Among the many religious changes that occurred throughout Europe in the sixteenth century, few were as widely influential as the Reformation. There were three streams of the Reformation: the common class, the educated middle class, and the monarchs and princes. All three streams wanted the church to be fixed and hoped it could combine old ideas and new ones. The Reformation was influenced by many different people, yet the most important was John Wyclif, who stated that the church did not need possession in order to be powerful. Different ideologies came from the influences of Wyclif, and many others. Lutheranism began in the mid 1500’s by Martin Luther, and he developed a doctrine of Justification by Faith where he wrote of how people stay in the church and get to heaven from faith

The Protestant Reformation was a major 16th century European movement aimed initially at reforming the beliefs and practices of the Roman Catholic Church. The Reformation in western and central Europe officially began in 1517 with Martin Luther and his 95 Theses. This was a debate over the Christian religion. At the time there was a difference in power. Roman Catholicism stands with the Pope as central and appointed by God. Luther’s arguments referred to a direct relationship with God and using the local vernacular to speak to the people. Luther’s arguments remove the absolute power from the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church in general. The revenue from the taxes paid to the Church would be reduced with Luther’s ideas, in part because of
In chapter 8, Gatsby reveals to Nick what his life was truly like. While reading about Gatsby's past the read comes to realize how much he changed just for one person. Gatsby was actually born James Gatz, a man from a poor family who had fallen in love with Daisy. With the love that James had for Daisy he was willing to give her up to try and better himself for her. James had known that the only way he could be with her, was if he was wealthy. When analyzing this chapter, we truly see how much James had changed himself and left his family just so he could have money to be with the women he loved. Now it seems to be something romantic, however one should not to gain more wealth to be with someone. The reader will read more and find out that, however Jay Gatsby had actually bootlegged to earn more money. It seems to be that Gatsby had been worried about his social status just to have Daisy back.
So with that being said, he turns to making his money by illegal ways like bootlegging. Daisy is to blame for most of Gatsby’s problems because of the way she feels about money, she has affected other characters due to this issue. Gatsby has to be the most affected by Daisy and her decisions, like not waiting for him when he went to war. Daisy has Gatsby head over heels, no matter what she does, he cannot stop obsessing over her and will support her in everything she decides to do. Even to the end of the book where she kills Myrtle, Tom’s mistress with Gatsby’s car. Despite the fact that he knows that she killed a person, he still wants to take the blame for her. A little before she killed Myrtle, Tom finds out about the affair she was having with Gatsby. Tom confronts them about it and Gatsby comes clean to him and tells him what he thinks is true. Which is that Daisy loves him not Tom and she wants to leave him, yet daisy is speechless because at some point she did love Tom and is not so sure she wants to leave him. Gatsby ends up dead because of Daisy bright idea of killing someone and her husband Tom blames it on Gatsby knowing that Wilson was going to kill him. This shows the type of person Daisy is, so she has made many decisions in her past that eventually came to hunt many others in the present till the end of the book her

The Reformation was a movement in the 16th century that was marked ultimately by rejection or modification of some Roman Catholic doctrine or practice and led to the establishment of the Protestant Churches. Although this was mostly viewed as just a religious movement, there we also many political and social aspects of it. In the beginning Johann Tetzel sold indulgences, a pardon for certain types of sin, the guilt that has been forgiven which was a position very harshly challenged by Martin Luther. Luther was later a German professor, but at this time came to be known as a seminal figure in the Protestant Reformation. Anyway, Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses which he wrote as a protest against the selling of indulgences. After this he was
Trying to make ends meet, he turns to selling drugs. By the time Jimmy finds love ones more and decides to settle down tragedy occurs. Trying to escaping from a drug bust at a friend’s house his attempts end up with a conviction for murder. Due to his illiteracy, Jimmy couldn’t read the false accusations he never committed.
From an economical standpoint, the Protestant Reformation greatly influenced the modern world. For example, the Protestant Reformation took advantage of the recently invented printing press. It helped to spread the use of vernacular and ideas, improved literacy, and increased nationalism. As a result, the amount of books and knowledge available skyrocketed. In 1500, there were 40000 books where in 1600 there were over 200 million.
Right before Ralph and Annabelle were leaving town to get married they stop to see a new safe. It was the newest version and it was right next to impossible to being opened. As they were admiring the new safe, a small, careless child climbs into the safe and locks herself in. In horror, Annabelle turns to Ralph in hopes he can do something, for if he did not, the child will die. In haste, Ralph makes a quick choice. He threw off his coat, got his tools from his suitcase and started unlocking the safe. “With that act Ralph D. Spencer passed away and Jimmy Valentine took his place.” I think this shows love towards Annabelle because Ralph is willing to give up his perfect life to make Annabelle happy. He changes back to Jimmy Valentine to save

He told her his real name is Jimmy Valentine and since they met he change his life. Annabel forgives him of what he did in his life and continue the plans and got married. 20 years later, Annabel had two kids named Johnny of 4 and Elizabeth of 6. So Jimmy decided to do what he knows best, robbing banks. Jimmy tells his wife he is going to get a second job but he is going to Mike’s house to pick up his old suitcase. Jimmy is going
In the story “A Retrieved Reformation” by O. Henry, Jimmy Valentine is a criminal who has just gotten out of prison for cracking safes and stealing money. He went back to his life of stealing, but when he went to one town for a job, he fell in love. Nobody knew him, so he changed into a person that was better than Jimmy Valentine. One theme in the story is that people are capable of change if they really want to. One example of the theme, people are capable of changing if they really want to, is when Jimmy writes to his friend saying “‘I wouldn’t touch a dollar of another man’s money now for a million’”.
The notion of flawed humanity is evident in Jimmy’s own parents. That they criticize him is devastating; parents are meant to love and support their children unconditionally. Jimmy’s lack of support from his parents and their praise of Crake is hurtful and painful for Jimmy as he does not possess any of his parent’s academic strengths or pursuits. Jimmy is a ‘word person’ who is surrounded by brilliant, scientifically motivated people; thus, Jimmy is separate from others because he can neither relate to nor converse on scientific topics. He relies on Crake to clarify details for him. This is significant because again, the reader must depend on what Jimmy understands. So if there is information that Crake shares with Jimmy, that information is subjected to Jimmy’s
