This week the Jay Mountain church caught fire. The fire is unknown or how it started. There were five children in the building at the time. They got out safely thanks to the three boys that saved them. The boys names were Ponyboy Curtis, Johnny Cade, and Dallas Winston. Johnny Curtis and Ponyboy went into the burning fire by going thru the window. They found the five children in the back room. The church collapsed on Johnny Cade. Johnny Cade has a broken back and likely won't be able to walk again. We talked to Ponyboy Curtis. Ponyboy said “it was a no brainer”. He said he wanted to save the kids. Ponyboy said Johnny would have said the same thing. After we talked to Ponyboy we talked to Jerry Wood a teacher
In a small town called Windrexville there was recently a fire at an old church on Jay mountain. A small class was going there for a picnic with their gardian Mr. Jerry Wood until a fire started and children were trapped inside. Thankfully, a red car arrived and three young boys rushed out of the car to save the kids while the church was crumbling down.
In the novel, The Outsiders, by S.E Hinton, Johnny made a choice that ultimately drove the plot. Johnny made a big choice when he decided to kill one of the Socs to protect ponyboy. There are some reasons Johnny made that choice as shown in the text when he says “ I had to, they were drowning you pony”[Hinton 56]. Ponyboy was extremely grateful that Johnny did that but he was also very nervous because people were going to find out that one of the gang members from Socs has been killed. If Johnny didn’t make that sacrifice then Ponyboy would have probably not have made it as Johnny explains in the text when he says, “They might have killed you”[Hinton 56]. Ponyboy was more focused on what they were gonna do to cover everything up instead of
Being known as the “lost puppy” of the gang has gotten to him, and he needed to show he was not just the quiet young boy of the group. I truly believe Johnny Cade should not be convicted of manslaughter. If your best friend who was always by your side was being drowned what would you do? Well, if I was in this situation I would definitely do anything I could to save my friend, which is just what Johnny did for Ponyboy Curtis.
He will forever be missed. You can donate to the box outside the church. He will forever be in our heart. Relating to the death there was a fire at the jay mountain church. at first the fire was just burning down the church. The forest was not affected but people started to worry after hearing children start to scream in it. After people discuss what to do a hero stepped up his name is PonyBoy. People told him to stop but he jumps into the burning building and his friend johnny cade jumps in after him. PonyBoy make it out with the kids but johnny isn't as lucky. Pony goes back in for him and it turns out that he was hit by a falling piece of timber. Pony come out of the church with johnny and is rushed to the hospital. Firefighters later show up and contain the fire. The church was the only building to be affected. Ponyboy is was later called a town hero. If he didn't jump in or if he listened to the adultes the kids could of died. Also if he didn't go back for his friend he would of died in pain. Pony went to the hospital to comfort his friend were. He got the news his friend would die.johnny was also called a hero with his friend. He jumped in behind him and tried to save more
Johnny is not justified in what he did and is guilty because he had the intent to kill. Ponyboy talks about Johnny and the previous attack by saying, “He would kill the next person who jumped him. Nobody was ever going to beat him like that again. Not over his dead body…” (Hinton 34). This shows that Johnny was changed by the previous
Johnny was a good person at heart. He helped those kids risk their lives even though he did not have to. Johnny could have stayed alive if he was paying attention to his surroundings. He got caught off guard when he was by himself, so when he was by himself he got jumped by the Socs when he was alone
Johnny and Ponyboy then suddenly think that they started the fire because of their cigarette butt. The boys jump out of the car to figure out what's going on and they ran towards the church. Johnny ran into the burning church trying to save the kids that were stuck in there and he was burned and injured severely. He and Dally were able to save all the children, but Johnny died later in the
One choice that had great impact on Ponyboy was Johnny killing the Soc, Bob. The sentence, “ ‘I killed him,’ he said slowly.’ I killed that boy’ ” pg.(56) shows that Johnny didn’t want to kill Bob but he still did. Johnny made this choice because the Socs were drowning Ponyboy. The consequence of Johnny killing Bob was that Johnny and ponyboy run away to not
On September 25th , 1965 Three Juvenile delinquents named Ponyboy Curtis, Johnny Cade, and Dallas Winston saved five kids from a burning church in Windrixville. The kids were going on a field trip to Windrixville and one of their stops was the St. James church. We interviewed one of the teachers named Brian Quinn and asked what happened. “The kids ran into the church and they were running way ahead and we had to try to keep up. After they ran in the fire began and we called 911,” said Brian. “Before the Fire Department came, two teenagers and a man ran into the church and got the kids out,” said Brian. We then asked one of the kids named Jordy Wheeler what
The Native Americans of the Great Plains Religion was all about the Sundance and dreams they had. There were people dancing around a fire ,starting the Sundance with a lady cutting down a tree to start it off. During it they would make sacrifices with people and continually hurt themselves for their horse god. So the gods they worshipped were the horse and buffalo gods because they were the animals they saw the most ,they also had the most benefits from them too. They used pipes and other materials during the Sundance to show where they should go next on their journey and who should they become in the future of their lives like vishions . The Great plains indians were very different from other indians with their horse gods and such violence
The main reason why Johnny killed bob was because Bob was telling david to drown Ponyboy. For example Bob said “ give this greaser a bath”. Also Johnny was going to be drown to death next if he hadn't done anything to stop it. So for nothing to happen to Johnny and Ponyboy Johnny had to do what he had to do.
The boys, Dally, Johnny, and Ponyboy were just coming to the church and saw it. It was just a normal afternoon until this happened. The boys saw a church on fire and they knew they needed to act fast. They went up to it close and could hear kids screaming. They knew they needed to get in there and act right away. The boys went into the burning down church. They went in and kept walking towards the sound of kids screaming.
Towards the middle of the story, a boy named Johnny had killed a Soc that was drowning Ponyboy. He and Ponyboy fled the city to another town, and hid in an abandon church there for a week. When they were going to leave, they realized the church was on fire and there was kids trapped inside. Johnny and Pony were good friends and they decided to go help the children. After they rescued the children, they had to escape the burning, ravaged building. A flaming, steaming hot beam from the ceiling fell on Johnny. After this happened, Pony passed out, “ I leaped out the window and heard timber crashing and the flames roaring right behind me. I staggered, almost
Evidence: He then told Ponyboy after Bob was killed that, “...they had a blade...they were gonna beat me up…” (Hinton 57).
Two juvenile delinquents from Tulsa, Oklahoma, saved five children from St. Mary’s Catholic Church last Friday afternoon. Witnesses state that students and their families from Windrixville Elementary School were having their annual Autumn Day Picnic on Jay Mountain. Parents and student were warned by facility members to stay out of the church for its structure was weak, and it’s an old church that had been there for almost eighty (80) years. Jill Salono, third grade teacher at Windrixville Elementary, said, “When I realized Justin, Bella, Olivia, Ali, and Timmy [the five children who were stuck in the fire] were missing, my face went cold, I truly couldn’t believe it. How could I have been foolish enough to leave them alone?” She said when her voice was quavering and Mrs. Salono started to cry. “When I heard them scream, I started shacking until Jerry; a good friend of mine stopped and said that he would get them. After that I feel to the ground and just cried.”
