The purpose of this paper is to provide you with written instructions on some of the basic guidelines with the new APA format (American Psychological Association, 2009). In addition, this paper is written in APA format to provide you with a visual image of how many aspects of papers should be written, from the title page, to headings, to references in text, and the reference page. A psychologist could automatically become a member of the Southern Society for Philosophy and Psychology (SSPP), by having the endorsements of two members, the payment of dues, and a membership in the American Psychological Association (APA). Nonmembers, with endorsements and payments of dues had to be voted in by the membership (Thomas, 2011); automatic membership for APA members was eliminated in 1940. Use the first sentence or sentences of the introduction to grab your reader’s attention and let them know what the main idea of your paper is. The introduction of the paper begins here in the first paragraph of your paper, on the line following the paper title. An APA sanction is, of course, a concept of fundamental importance that plays a paramount role in psychology and psychology research. The above mentioned sanctions that the APA ethics comittee might issue when imposing a punitive order against a psychologist who has violated an ethical standard are as follows: reprimand, censure, expulsion, stipulated resignation. These aforesaid sanctions should reflect on the severity or intention of the unethical act (APA, 2010). What's more, the punitive order of a reprimand would be considered the lesser of the sanctions, with resignation being the consequence for the most ridigedly enforced sanction of the APA.

August 2015 marked the “123rd Annual Convention [in] Toronto, Ontario California” (p. 1). At this convention, Dr. Aaron T. Beck expounded on his 15 year old theory that Cognitive Therapy (CT) was an effective treatment modality for Schizophrenia (p. 2). Consequently, Beck found that CT only showed successful outcomes for mild to moderate Schizophrenia and not severe Schizophrenia (p. 2). Eager to find an effective treatment modality, Beck modified CT to focus specifically on negative cognition which is more severe in individuals with severe Schizophrenia (p. 3).

According to the 2010 Census, the older adult population has grown a15.1 percent compared to the previous census. That percent represents a total number of 40,267,984 (Werner, 2011). This cipher, should call our attention as future mental health providers because the older adult population is increasing exponentially through the years. Consequently, it is important to be prepared on the most effective and accurate methods to keep this age population at a high psychological wellbeing state. The American Psychological Association (APA) has created a group of guidelines to assist the psychological practice with older adults.

The American Psychological Association estimates that approximately 90% of all people in the United States will marry by the time they reach the age of 50. Of those, an estimated 40-50% will divorce. Couples that remarry have even higher rates of divorce (http://apa.org/). Of the many potential presenting problems, a research study completed by Miller, Yorgason, Sandberg, and White (2003), found that communication was the most common presenting issue for both spouses. A similar study by Doss, Simpson, and Christenen (2004), identified communication and emotional affection as the leading causes for why couples seek therapy; wives generally reported communication first, while husbands reported emotional affection.
