As mentioned in our discussion topic, the abortion debate has been centered on the rights of the mother or the rights of the fetus; however we seem to leave men out of the decision. While it is true that the woman is the one who will carry the baby in her womb, it is also true that the baby is a product of two persons not only one. As Edge and Groves mention in chapter 11, the topic of abortion is surrounded by many controversies, and it is nowhere near to be resolved. In my opinion, it would be good if the father had an opinion in the matter, because like I mentioned earlier, the act involved two persons, and both have responsibility. In many cases the father is the one who wants the mother to abort, either because they are too young, or
The issue of Abortions has been a controversy for years now. There are two main groups for this problem, Pro-Life, and Pro-Choice. Pro-Life supports the human rights of life should be embraced, by religion and ethics. Pro-choice is when someone wants to make this choice without no remorse of human life, but because someone wants no part of it raising one.
Abortion is a very controversial issue with having no ground of common agreement with two polar opposite viewpoints. Abortion is-the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy (dictionary.com). Abortion was legalized in 1973 because of the court case Roe v Wade, she challenged the texas laws of abortion, her life was endangered if the pregnancy would be continued she won the court case making it legal for Roe, a group took the case to the supreme court and made abortion legal for everyone(procon.org).The two contrasting perspectives i'm addressing are for abortion these people are for the women making the choice and for planned parenthood, and against abortion, not killing innocent human beings because of inconvenience to us.
Abortion is a controversial topic regarding the rights mainly of the fetus and the mother. Men’s rights and involvement are generally overlooked in the abortion process. Since females are the carriers of the embryo, most of the time the male’s input is not incorporated into the final decision. There are several debates regarding abortion and whose choice it should be to terminate the fetus. Every father has different expectations in a pregnancy and how much their decision should be included in the abortion depends solely on their involvement in the mother and embryo’s life. When the female deliberately engages in sexual intercourse, it becomes her responsibility to allow the fetus a right to her body and to include the father’s input. If
For years, the mother-to-be was, and still is, the sole decision maker of the choice to terminate the pregnancy, whereas the father has little to no say in the matter. In most relationships the decisions are two-sided, parenting included, so why is the choice to keep or abort the fetus one-sided? Men and abortions have never been addressed positively or addressed at all. The stereotype of men wanting an abortion solely to relieve himself of his parental duties is perceived as a norm in today’s culture that generalizes all men. It is essential that the woman and the man involved in the conception of the fetus come to a mutual agreement on whether or not to have an abortion. Every choice up until the point of conception, throughout the pregnancy,
Abortion has been a controversial topic regarding the political, religious, spiritual, and economical views of many Americans throughout history. Understanding the difference between pursuing abortion or rejecting it at the end is an individuals option. Abortion refers to the voluntary termination of a pregnancy, resulting in the death of the fetus or embryo.(CITE) Therefore, throughout the entire life journey of Congress and legal rights, there has been a drift of thoughts towards abortion. It can be represented both parties that advocate for “pro-choice” or “pro-life” and there can be two sides presented with both arguments. After many debates and thoughts on this legal topic, one must consider if it fair and valid to legalize abortion
The population that is skeptical of the approval of abortion is primarily concerned about the fetus. Fetal rights are primarily used to argue against the fact that while women have the right to abort, fetuses also have the right to life. The term originated after Roe v. Wade as a defense for fetal life, following the Court rule that a fetus is not a person under the fourteenth amendment (Fetal Rights 1). However, some pro-choice activists argue that fetal rights should not even exist. According to the Gale Encyclopedia of American Law, “Historically, under both English common law and U.S. law, the fetus has not been recognized as a person with full rights. Instead, legal rights have centered on the mother, with the fetus treated as a part of
Abortion is, easily, the most controversial topic in the United States today. Some think it should be illegal, some think it should be legal but with restrictions, and then there are those who think it should be legal and free to access when wanted or needed. It usually ends with the Baby VS. Mommy debate.
The history of 'abortion ' in the United States is more complex than most people imagine. Abortion and issues surrounding abortion are involved in intense political and public debate in the United States, law varies from state to state with regards to state legislature of abortion. 'Until 1973, the control of abortion, was almost entirely in the hands of the government of the state. ' (Vile. M. J. C, 1999, P203) The focal legal debate surrounding the issue of abortion is whether a foetus has a basic legal right to live, which turns on to the question on when a foetus is potentially a person (when it becomes 'viable ') and therefore should be ultimately protected from this point. 'Pollitt identifies that to have the legal right to have an abortion, was a transformative event for women’s liberation: it saved women from death and injury; and enabled them to commit to education and work. It also changed how women saw themselves; as mothers by choice not by fate.’ (Kennedy. S, 2014, P56) This essay will critically discuss the role and variety of actors involved in the discussion of abortion in the United States, and the impact they have politically, socially and economically, by critically exploring relevant theory.
American suffragist Elizabeth Cady Stanton once said, “When we consider that women are treated as property, it is degrading to women that we should treat our children as property to be disposed of as we see fit” (Jenson). The pro-life vs. pro-choice abortion debate has always been a controversial topic in politics as well as the field of women’s health care. Many on the pro-choice side of the issue cite a woman’s right to make decisions for her own body as justification to continue the practice of abortion. The pro-life argument is that a woman and her child are separate entities and should be treated as such. Although legally and socially accepted in the United States, abortion asserts that a mother’s right to terminate
Women that push for an abortion do not always have a partner that agrees and supports their decision for terminating the pregnancy. If the father is willing to support and care for the fetus, it is wrong for a woman to go against his wishes and follow through with an abortion. For a father to want to be involved in the fetus’s life means he is willing to take on the responsibilities of having a child so he should have a say if his fetus should be terminated or not. The Becoming A Father/Refusing Fatherhood article states, “To be a father-as-progenitor a man simply has to provide the sperm that leads to conception, whereas to be a father-as-carer a man has to take on a variety of social roles. The roles associated with the father-as-carer
The father should also have a say in the abortion but that's not all. If the person that is getting the abortion is under age then it is also up to the parents of not only the mother but also the father and even then it is about the child and the child should have a chance at a life and if the family didn't want the baby they could have gave the baby up for adoption yes i know people say that if you just throw the kid in a home that they will be there forever and not get adopted. Yes sadly this is true a lot of kids even now don't get adopted but it would give the world more people to feed it with new ideas.
There are always a number of heated debates within the United States. These debates area always a hot topic and very controversial issues. Due to how controversial they are is why they become such largely debated topics with many people having very different views on the specific topic. For example there is a Democratic and Republican party in the United States people either stick with one side or the other due to their beliefs and sometimes can be neutral or on the other party’s side for certain topics. Abortion is a very controversial topic as it always has been all around the country but more specifically in the United States. There are two sides to the debate those who believe abortion should be legal and their organization is known as prochoice. On the other side there are the group of people who believe that abortion should not be legal and reverse the laws from what they are today this organization is known as prolife. It seems as though both of the organizations are very extreme while there can be some people who a neutral and believe in some ideas from the prochoice yet they also agree with some of the ideas from prolife. The two sides to the debate on abortion are known as pro-choice and pro-life although this topic is very controversial, today there is also a history of abortion laws and a very important case known as Roe vs. Wade which played a huge role in determining what laws on abortion are in the present.

The morality of induced abortion is one of the most controversial moral issues of our time. Abortion has grown to be one, if no the most, debated argument of modern times. In the following web-page, we will be discussing abortion in three of its major aspects: Public Opinion, Congress and Courts, and Interest groups.
Furthermore, abortion is a safe procedure and doesn’t cause health issues such as cancer or infertility contrary to popular belief. According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) article, written by Raymond EG and Grimes DA, titled, The comparative safety of legal induced abortion and childbirth in the United States, it stated that “The mortality rate of a woman dying from abortion is 0.6 people per 100,000 while the mortality rate of woman dying from giving birth is 8.8 people per 100,000.” This shows that abortion is a safe procedure compared to childbirth. Even though that’s the case, we don’t see any controversy around childbirth even though childbirth is 14 times more likely to result in mortality. The only reason
