Tips on choosing the best accommodation type for your trip this year

Who doesn't love getting away from everything for a relaxing excursion? Whether your idea of relaxation is heading to the quiet of the Lake District to hike to cosy country pubs or you much prefer a city break to enjoy the hustle and bustle of a busy town – choosing the right accommodation is key to your happiness.

There are plenty of accommodation options, too, whether you are looking for a hostel, hotel, motel, a flat or home rental, a swap, a couch surf or a hot camping spot, some tips are always valid.

1. No Dogs Allowed
Are you travelling with pets? Before you book an accommodation you will need to check to ensure that they accept pets. It would be disappointing to arrive at your destination only to discover Rover isn't welcome, so plan head when making your booking.

2. Location, Location, Location
One of the biggest mistakes people make is finding a good deal and not realising that it's located nowhere near where you want to be. If you're heading to London you don't want to find yourself two trains away from the centre of the city! So, take time to look at a map and see where your potential accommodation is located when compared to your ideal spot. This is especially true if you're looking to rent a flat or a house. If you do choose somewhere out of the way, make sure you know what public transport is available and how often it runs. Otherwise, you will need to consider a car rental service.
