When we speak about adoptions, we commonly think about a couple going into a legal contract to care for a child that they themselves did not bear or we may think about a pet. With both of these cases there are careful considerations that we need to take into account. For a child the parents to be may be thinking about if they want a boy or a girl, what kind of diapers and formula to purchase, and how to furnish the room, just to mention a few things. For a pet we will take into consideration the species and the breed. Do we want a dog, cat, fish, snake, and what are the implications of having that pet. What is the best type of nourishment, shelter, and care is widely researched. If we spend so much time researching all of these things for children and pets; why are we not spending the time that we need in researching our plants? After all, without the proper shelter, nutrition and care plants will not be able to flourish. …show more content…

This raises the question: How is this possible? In order to understand the validity of the statement we must first understand our past. If anyone were to state that there is an African influence in Egyptian history most of us would not think to challenge this statement due to the close proximity of Egypt and Africa. When you take that into account, it would be hard to grasp the concept that there would be an African influence in America before Columbus due to the distance in between Africa and America. It is interesting to know that “the negroid element is well proven by the large Olmec stone mountains “(Sertima, 1976 p. 21), therefore we must take into account that there was an African influence in America before Columbus had arrived.
