The renowned Theoretical Physicist, Albert Einstein¸ once said, "Old Man's Advice to Youth: 'Never Lose a Holy Curiosity.'" LIFE Magazine (2 May 1955) p. 64”. Curiosity is neither a good trait nor is it a bad one, but it is a characteristic that everyone possesses. While some choose to pander to their curiosity, others may choose to ignore it. Does one’s social class correlate with whether they ignore or explore their curiosity? A well-known philosopher by the name of Karl Marx created the idea of Marxism. Marxism is a method of socioeconomic analysis, analyzing the relationship between social classes. Bourgeoisies are the business owners of our current capitalist society. Bernard is an Alpha Plus, but due to his stature he is not treated as one, the discrimination he faces leads him to question himself and the society around him. But, unlike Mustapha Mond he does go past questioning, this is because he is scared of the consequences. This is evident throughout the book due to Bernard’s place in the world state he can only question society but he can’t do anything more than that as he has a fear of being alienated by society. It is evident that Bernard is not like the other Alpha Plus males, when he is in the charge room one day and he overhears Henry foster offering his girlfriend to another colleague, Bernard was disgusted. He does not objectify women like the rest of society in the World State does, but due to his fear of being alienated he remains quiet. Whenever Bernard is discriminated or treated unjustly he wonders “would the creature treat his with respect due to his caste?”(55), this question haunted him. The quote shows that Bernard questions if he will ever be treated with the same respect others in his class get by people in lower classes. Bernard is unlike Mustapha Mond, he only wonders why he is treated unfairly he never goes out of his way to figure out why he is not treated fairly.
