We all know about the civil war and the struggles to win so slavery doesn't have to continue. I have picked three storey’s that will relate to the civil war the first story is about Frederick Douglass an American slave. Then I will present Across Five Aprils a story about men discussing about the civil war. After Across Five Aprils we will be discussing about Gettysburg Address, a story about our victory in the civil war. All of this story’s will be surrounding my thoughts about my thesis statement. Gettysburg Address is manly about the famous speech that Abraham Lincoln gave to the people.He gave this sentence to the people to give them hope so they can keep fighting.He wanted people to get inspired by his famous speech so in the process people join the civil war to help slaves be free.He thought if it worked maybe people will keep going to win the war.In this article the speech was to support the reason there fighting for is to make the name american mean free for all.They give this hint because in the speech it was mainly about the civil war.It made solders try there best to win the
Lastly the Gettysburg Address was one of the main turning points in the war. In Document D Lincoln talks about how the soldiers on the battlefield were holy for fighting in Gettysburg. President Lincoln gave the Gettysburg address, during the address Lincoln talks about the soldiers that were fighting in Gettysburg. Also Lincoln addressed slavery in the Gettysburg address, Lincoln asked his supporters to help the slavery problem.(document D). The supporters tried to help Lincoln by giving freedom to slaves.
Frederick Douglass was very fortunate to have learned how to read. In his time if you were a slave and had no education you couldn’t escape to freedom. Frederick Douglass’s key to education was his mistress (155). At first she was very nice and was giving him the education he needed and wanted but then from the influence of her husband she became rotten and denied him the right to his education “My mistress, who had kindly commenced to instruct me, had in compliance with the advice and direction of her husband no, not only ceased to instruct, but had set her face against my being instructed by anyone else” (155).
