First, great job in summarizing the bill into law process. Second, i am Glad to hear the National Defense Authorization Act has passed. For the past 5 year the budget control act has imposed caps on Defense spending. This years budget is 150 billion less then fiscal year 2011. Each of the military services remains underfunded, undersize and unready to meet the complex threats the world has to offer. The Air Force is a prime example of an underfunded and undersize branch. The Air Force lacks the pilots, maintainers and parts to keep flying. Its so bad that Airmen are stealing parts from retired aircraft to keep their planes flying. In additional to our Air Force aging, Airmen are left burned out with the increased workload. This story is very
- The Active Duty days you accomplish (Drills, AT days and TDYs/Deployments) count toward retirement. If you came from Active Duty you have already accumulated 1461 days (4 years) toward retirement. “Guard Babies” (someone who has only ever been Guard) will have a smaller retirement than you because of your Active Duty time.
The United States has and are doing everything they can to ensure our safety and safety of the nation. One thing they have done is pass the National Defense Administration Act (NDAA). NDAA is a federal law specifying the budget and expenditures of the United States Department of Defense (DOD). This act was passed by the Senate placing domestic terror investigations into the hands of the military.
1. This is a position paper advocating why the United States Air Force should not split into a separate Air Force and Space Force. This paper will discuss the advantages, disadvantages, and lastly, the position will be solidified by refuting the disadvantages of creating a separate Space Force.
To conclude, the National Defense Administration Act is a bill that has a controversial side to it. Since 2011 it was tweaked a bit implying that the president has the right to take anybody’s constitutional rights by detaining them without the Corpus habeas protection or fair trial. It also has many functions for example it funds our protection which are the Army, Navy, etc. It ensures our safety as well as it breaks our constitutional rights. Although, it protects us because it funds the military, it takes away our rights by simply taking a person to jail without fair trial, which goes against the
Have you ever thought about joining the Air Force? Well , if you haven’t, just imagine the respect you’d get for serving our country, the pride you’d feel for helping keep America safe. Imagine flying all around the world and meeting so many varieties of people, seeing lots of different cultures. (Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Quincy) Although the USAFA has its disadvantages, it teaches future service men and women many qualities that they can use in their lives. It also shapes these cadets for the military by teaching them discipline, responsibility, and good work ethic.
On January 7, 2011, President Barack Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 into law; the indefinite detention without trial of terrorist suspects, even for U.S. citizens seized on American soil. Justin Amash said, "The frightening thing here is that the government is claiming the power under the Afghanistan authorization for use of military force as a justification for entering American homes to grab people, indefinitely detain them and not give them a charge or trial.” (House Passes Defense Bill). No one should be aloud to have the power to say a person should be indefinitely detained without charge or trial because they could cause danger to other people. Conservatives are worried that this bill will liberate power for the federal government, to have American citizens detained indefinitely if they are connected to terrorism even if they only contributed once to the group.
1. The topic of this paper will be on listing solid solutions for reducing Air Force costs during the current fiscal constraints and then from these choose the best way to save the Air Force money. The Air Force has a duty to the public taxpayers to be good stewards of the finances that are entrusted to it and should do everything it can to find ways to save money. This also ensures that every cent is spent towards the Air Force’s mission to fly, fight, and win… in air space and cyberspace. One idea to save the Air Force money is expanding the Guard/Reserve component. Another way the Air Force can save is by streamlining and updating the military procurement
If that had happened the Germans would have completely controlled the air over Britain, cutting us off from our colonies and the Americas and all the aid pouring in from them and the rest of the world. If the RAF had been smashed then the U-boats would be free to terrorise the Atlantic convoys. Bomber groups from Northern France and Denmark would have had free rein to attack the Atlantic convoys with complete annihilation as the inevitable outcome. The Royal Navy, the largest navy in the world at the time, would have been smashed to bits by the unfettered Luftwaffe, leaving the North Atlantic at the mercy of the German pocket battleships; the Graf spray and Bismarck, and the United Kingdom would have been completely isolated, with the result
It is true that large military spending will contribute growth in the economy in a short term. It will bring more job opportunities to citizens who are directly involved in both the military and military-related fields. Not only that, but a large amount of assisting jobs will be supplied as well. For example, if a new military uniform making factory opens, it not only supplies jobs for the people working in that factory, but also supplies jobs for the people working on the cotton field and even the people who is a part of the transportation and distribution of the uniforms themselves and the materials needed to make them. Furthermore, it increases the employment rate instantly and significantly. Another reason one could argue for the increase of military spending is that if we maintain high military spending it can increase our nations defense capability, and after all, it is said that national defense should be our nation’s number one concern. This is so because it’s obvious that the more money government spends on the army, the better weapons, the better training and ultimately the better army it will be. They can protect their citizens better allowing them to live in safer condition without having to fear about themselves and their families well beings. Thus, satisfied citizens will put more effort into their works
Since the very beginning of air travel, the Federal Aviation Administration’s National Air Traffic Control (ATC) system has kept passengers safe and moved people and goods with unmatched efficiency, and it has continually evolved to meet the needs of the aviation industry. However, many have sought to hand over control of the ATC system to a private entity, separate from the FAA, dominated by the airlines, and unaccountable to the public. The latest of these effort comes in the form of a renewed push endorsed by President Donald Trump, in a misguided attempt to “Make Air Travel Great Again.” What would come with private ATC would be just the opposite: rising costs passed on to airline passengers and general aviation operations, and funds shifted from local general aviation (GA) airports to the nation’s hub airports, and unfair access to the nation’s skies favoring the airlines and leaving GA behind. Since the invention of flight, the sky over America have been free for anyone to use, but this may no longer be the case. The costs to the aviation industry will be staggering. Pilots, controllers, and other aviation professionals have not accepted a private ATC system in the past and must resist it again for the love of flying.
Military deployments are hard on everyone involved: family, friends, and even the person enrolled. While the time they are away may be tough, their homecoming is a fantastic time of reunion. Oftentimes, families and friends will throw their military loved one a homecoming reunion party. If you are thinking about doing this, keep these four tips in mind to ensure it is a smashing success:
I would like to attend a military academy because I would like to be the best that I can be, while at the same time, serving my country. Education at the AFA is comparable to the best universities in the country, including my prospective major, Astronautical Engineering; so, the service academy is an excellent academic choice for me. Additionally, only the best-of-the-best attend these academies, and being surrounded by such great people will be terrific to make new friends and network.
My primary reason for wanting to attend West Point Military Academy and serve as an active duty U.S. Army officer is to become the best version of myself that I can possibly be and to further hone my innate abilities and unique skill set to serve my country to the best of my ability, and help make the world a better place both on and off the battlefield.
My decision to become a Special Forces Warrant Officer was one that took much time and thought to make. The first thing I needed to do was determine the differences in the roles and responsibilities between a Special Forces Warrant Officer, and a Special Forces Operations Sergeant. Next, I had to think about how my training and experiences would assist me based on the path I chose. Finally, I had to decide which position would give me more personal satisfaction, and which I would be more likely to succeed in.
In all honesty, what keeps me up at night are mosquitos and my cat. But an essay on mosquitos and how I despise them wouldn’t be suitable or appropriate here. However, there are other issues that concern me; some mundane, some in a global context.
