However, the American automakers do not have hybrid cars on the market and this has postponed and possibly prevented the widespread use of hybrid cars and their possible replacement of gas-only cars. The gas-electric engine integrates the low air pollution aspect associated with the electric engine and the high power output of the gas/ internal combustion engine. This paper examines how air pollution can be reduced through the use of hybrid engines. Hybrid cars offer more benefits in maintenance, are cost-effective, and most importantly eco-friendly.
