Alexander the great is a strong leader for taking over 70 cities. He was born in 356 B.C.E in Macedonia. By the age of 20, he took his father throne. His journey took him 8 years and claimed 70 cities. After all his greatness, he died by a fever in 323 B.C.E. How great was Alexander the Great? Alexander was great because he was a military genius and a inspiring leader. The reason Alexander is great is because he was a military genius. In document B, it states “when Alexander saw this, he move his troop in all different directions to puzzle Porus.” This sentence shows how he used his head to confuse Porus with his tactics. This tactic confused Porus and Alexander was able to surround them. Alexander was a strategic military genius was a reason
One reason Alexander was great, was because he was a military genius. As stated in document B, “When Alexander saw this, he decided to move his troops in all different directions so that Porus would be puzzled…(Doc B)”.
One reason that Alexander doesn’t deserve to be called great is that, he slaughter thousands of people. In document C, it states that, “Two thousands men of military age were crucified.” The evidence shows that many people were killed while he was growing his empire. Also, the evidence shows that he is mean because many people were killed in the fighting.
Alexander the great was a military genius here is why. In Document B it states that "Alexander got him into the habit of making these corresponding movement. This actually went on for quite a long time Porus no longer reacted." Alexander used this as a way to get Porus to not react any longer so he disbelieved that Alexander was going to start the
The finale reason Alexander was great is because he was an inspiring leader. For example, in document A, it shows all the places he conquered, this shows he’s an inspiring leader, because of what he could accomplish, which could be inspiring. Also, it shows how far he walked and how determined he was which could inspire somebody. Another example, is in document F, this shows how inspired Khushi is because of Alexander The Great, which could rub off on somebody else, and it tells us all the things Alexander did for him and how grateful he is, which is very inspiring.
Many historians have argued about Alexander the Great and if he deserves to be called great. Being 20 years old, Alexander the Great conquered most of the Persian Empire. His father, Philip II, was assassinated and Alexander III ruled over his father's Macedonian Empire. He and his army was called invincible but Alexander gets struck down by a disease called malaria in Babylon. How Great was Alexander the Great? Alexander is worthy to be called “Great”because he helped spread the Greek culture and he was selfless.
Alexander killed thousands of people, taking over cities with violence for power you don’t need is not something you would do if you were great. In document C it says “The remaining survivors, some 30,000 in number, he sold into slavery. Two thousand men of the military age were crucified.” This shows that Alexander was not great. He used violence against people, to overcome cities he did not need just for more power. He destroyed homes and took away lifes. So many people were caused to have a painful and violent death because of Alexander. In document E it gives the estimated amount of enemy soldiers and civilians killed in just four major battles, 100,00.
Evidence of this is that many of his enemies would surrender before the war began if they heard rumors about a possible attack on their empire (Doc C). Next, Alexander had one of the biggest empires ever as it stretched across 2,000,000 square feet of land! His empire also continued to grow as he went along his conquest, it took 11 years to reach full potential in size and strength (Doc E). The intense and well taught warriors are on last reason he had a very strong empire, Alexander recruited and highly endured his men to their full capability (Doc D). This evidence clearly states that Alexander the Great lived up to his name. These reasons also show that he was a smart leader and general, had a great and feared reputation from enemies and allies, and Alexander strived for full
Alexander the Great conquered a lot of land and showed many qualities of a great leader. Alexander became king of Macedonia in 323 BC at age 20, after his dad died. Alexander took on his dad's legacy of conquering Persia and continued conquering land. Alexander the Great deserves this title because he spread Greek culture throughout the Ancient world, he had great leadership skills, and great military tactics and leadership.
Alexander the Great lived over 300 years before Jesus of Nazareth. Alexander the Great was born in 356 B.C.E. His father was King Philip of Macedonia, so Alexander grew up inheriting his father's fighting skills/warfare. Once his father died, at age 20 Alexander took over the throne. Although he was still very young, he soon went on to become a military commander. When he got on the battlefield, he continuously won war after war. He lead his troops to victory; he was determined to win every war, and train his army with intense labor. He was known as the most powerful military commander to ever live. How Great was Alexander the Great? Alexander the Great was a military genius, and he was an inspiring leader to others.
Alexander the Great, born of King Philip of Macedonia, was one of the greatest conquerors of history. In my opinion, Alexander was a great leader and warrior. For example, in Document B, Alexander used strategy to win over a battle. The strategy he used was complicated, but well thought out; Alexander moved his troops in all different directions to keep Porus puzzled, and took his cavalry to various points along the river bank where he would create a war cry so that Porus would parallel the movements on the other sides of the river until he no longer responded. Now Porus elephants were boxed in, and the elephants trampled their own men because they had no driver's upon them. In this way Alexander won a battle, and through his cleverness, he
Alexander was a good general, he won lots of wars, and had great strategies. The article states,”He realized that he could not cross at the point… When Alexander saw this, he[decided] move his troops in all different directions so that Porus would keep puzzled,”(Arrianus, Document B). Alexander had a good idea, if Porus and Alexander went head on head it would be even but, if Alexander could attack Porus from all different sides he has an advantage. The article says,”At night he would take most of his cavalry to various points along the river bank where he would create a clamour, raise the war cry and produce all other such noises as would come from men preparing to cross river,”(Arrianus, Document B). Alexander made the noise so Puros would get his men ready for war but, Alexander figured out Porus movements, and he could then send his troops to attack Porus. Alexander was a great conquer because he had so many great strategies when he went into war, helping him expand his vast
A final reason Alexander is great is his military. Alexander moved his troops in different directions. The enemy wouldn’t expect it. Alexander moved his troops to the river bank, and he took most of his cavalry. “ He would create a clamour, raise the war cry and produce all other such noises as would come from men preparing to cross the river” (Doc B).
Alexander was a great leader because he was a inspiring leader to many later coming kings. According to paragraph 8 of the background essay “Julius Caesar wept in front of a Alexander statue because he had conquered so much in such little time”. This proves that even Caesar was inspired and awed by Alexander. According to document E Marcus Macrinus had Alexander sewn into his clothing for 540 years. Alexander really had to inspire Marcus to make him put Alexanders face on his clothes for 540 years. Alexander really inspired
Alexander cared about his army and there needs. According to document D, “The army was crossing a desert of sand and the sun was already blazing down on them. They were in need of water. As they went on a party of light infantry which had gone looking for water. They found some and poured it into a helmet. They brought it back to Alexander, Alexander took the helmet and in full view of his troops poured it on the ground,”(Arrianus Doc D). This shows that Alexander the great was truly great because he showed concern for others. When he poured the water on the ground he showed brotherhood. Brotherhood meaning if he was not going to drink the water the army would not either. This trait is good to have so that one can be caring for others and it makes one a good leader so they will be able to succeed in life. Next, Alexander was aware of others. According to document C, “When the last organized resistance was broken, Alexander and his army went on a wild search. Alexander had ordered that all except those who took safety in the temple were to be put to death,”(Green Doc C). This shows that Alexander the great was really great because he showed concern for others by honoring those who took safety in the temple he saved their lives. When one does this they are saving many lives and am being very honorable just like Alexander was. This trait is important to have in life so they can succeed in life by honoring others and their choices. In summary, Alexander the great was truly great because he showed concern for
Alexander the Great was undoubtedly one of the greatest military leaders of all time. Alexander’s strategy was to use terror and kindness to conquer an empire. The towns and cities that resisted him would burn to the ground and their people sold into slavery. The towns and cities that surrendered would keep their government officials, and Alexander would help them rebuild damaged property. This strategy allowed him to never lose a battle.
