Hi, I'm Alfredo Buccat. After graduating high school, I joined the Hawaii Army National Guard (HIARNG) and was able to retire from service after nearly 21 years of service. As a member of the HIARNG, I was fortunate enough to take advantage of education benefits the military has given me. These education benefits helped become an Emergency Medical Technician with the military, which eventually led me to become a Registered Nurse (RN) in 2004. I currently work at The Queen's Medical Center - Punchbowl Campus, working the night shift as a Medical/Surgical/Telemetry RN with the Float Pool. After being out of school and currently practicing as a bedside RN for over 12 years (and as a retired Army Nurse), I've decided to go back to school to broaden my knowledge in nursing (theory and research). Upon completion of this program, I hope that it'll help open up other nursing career opportunities that were not available to me as an Associate Degree RN. While waiting for this program to start, I've also completed several courses in Healthcare Administration; hopefully, the combination of these two programs/degree may also open up other opportunities in the administrative portion of the healthcare industry. …show more content…
My wife, who is also a RN, along with my military colleagues, was instrumental in putting me to the path of becoming a RN. My wife and I have two wonderful kids, a boy, who is in high school and a girl, who is in the intermediate grade; both of which have vocalized their understanding and have already given me their advance forgiveness if I miss any of their activities during this Executive RN Program. I am also fortunate enough to have the support of my healthy parents who continue to assist my wife and I in nurturing our children and by providing paternal guidance (lets face it, having kids does not come with parental
At this moment in time I am unsure of the nursing role that I am seeking, I am learning more about family nurse practitioner and acute care nurse practitioner as the days go by. Each field has its benefits, and whether I choose to go with FNP or Acute care I know that I will be making a positive difference in the field of nursing. Although I am a little bit unsure at this time, I feel that I am leaning more towards acute care. I love the fact that a nurse practitioner can work in many different specialties like being a nurse practitioner midwife, to working in the emergency department or even working at a clinic in a rural area, the possibilities for nurse practitioners are endless and I am very grateful to be in this program. Working at the hospital provides exposure to many different ailments, and being able to focus on one specific ailment and treat it is where my interest is in. I find the cardiac system to be complex and interesting, arterial lines, chest tubes, and hemodynamics are very interesting to me.
I completed ten years in the U.S. Navy, four of which was active duty. I then decided to go to college to pursue my dream of becoming a dental hygienist. After realizing how hard it was to find a full-time job upon completion of the program, I decided to return to school to become a dentist.
My goal is to be accepted into the LPN/RN Bridge Program May 2017 and graduate in May 2018. I have been an LPN since 2007 where I have spent 9 years in the Emergency Department at Welch Community Hospital. I have absorbed a great deal of knowledge in the time I have worked, in addition will continue to endure more information daily. I can voice that I still appreciate what I do for a living and want to continue to learn more for myself along for my patients. While being in the Emergency Department for the years I have has driven me to apply for the RN program. Thru the type of work, I preform I receive joy when recognizing that I have assisted them to heal. I plan to apply at Pikeville Medical Center once graduated and apply for an ER position.
In the meantime, my short term goals are to finish school first. When I finish schooling at Kaplan University I hope to land any entry-level job as an administrator for a medical or rehab center. Hopefully I gain enough experience my entry-level job to excel in future career. From there I want to work on my master degree for healthcare administration. I have decided yet on what school I want to attend yet but it must uphold a great system where I will receive plenty of help. My next step in my career is apply myself toward getting and being the best assistant nursing manger there is. I will have attain a minimum of two years of experience as an assistant nursing home administrator in order for me to become the license nursing home administrator. My dreams aren’t overnight success but they are worth the dedication. My school is helping my pursue my dreams by providing great services and

Starting the Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelorette of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at Jacksonville University in June 2015 was a simple transition for me. I had graduated an Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) program in December 2014 and became a licensed RN in January 2015. I had just gotten hired for my first nursing position the month prior to the start of class and had not yet started working. I was very much still in student mode. While this makes it a bit easier to learn and process information in a classroom setting, I had no real world experience to help guide me. Through the knowledge I have gained as a student at Jacksonville University I have become a competent and well-rounded nurse. I am able to quickly problem solve and utilize critical thinking to identify and rectify issues. I have even put together, and will be presenting, and presentation about nursing practice for staff members at the facility where I work.
After graduating nursing school in 2008, I started working as an Operating Room nurse (OR) at a level one trauma center, which specializes in neurosurgery. I now scrub and circulate neurology, urology, ENT (ear, nose and throat), and plastic surgeries. I am also a charge nurse and in charge of orienting new nurses and graduate nurses. The OR is fast paced and challenging.
I have a 10+ years of extensive work experience as a registered nurse in a cardiac unit. During that time, I developed the skills to deliver impeccable health care and service towards patients. I have been trained in monitoring patients, updating information on vital signs and documents of effectively monitor their health. While working at Loyola Hospital as charge nurse, staff nurse, and preceptor nurse, I was tasked with assessing the condition of patients. I firmly believe that I will bring the energy, positive attitude, and dedication necessary to thrive in your hospital’s environment. As a recent graduate from Kaplan University for RN-BSN program, it has provided me a stronger knowledge base, and leadership skills. I believe that I can
My career goal for the near future is to become a registered nurse. As my career advances I want to use my Master’s degree to help me propel myself above other. Secondly, we are looking to pilot a community paramedic program which I am very interested in leading and helping organize within our community. Furthermore, I am looking to expand my skills and knowledge as a skilled professional. This degree will allow me to grow as a nurse and apply the knowledge learned within this program in a real life scenario. I would like to work as an advanced practice nurse in an acute care setting where I can help the most amounts of people possible. I also want to give back as well and teach others as much as possible. In our department we have hired many new registered nurses who I have been trusted to orient. This has given me the knowledge and confidence needed to prepare myself for a leadership role within the department and provide the necessary feedback to others to allow them to continue to grow as
