We recorded two different styles on the song “All Through the Night” and the results were surprising. In my opinion the first style was much more like my talking voice and laid back. From the recording, it was very blurry. I could barely hear what I was singing it was more like mumbling the words out loud. I also felt that the tone wasn’t projecting out and was buried in the piano accompaniment. The second style was much more awkward to sing but it was projecting. I could actually hear the lyrics and surprisingly all the worlds were clear. I love how the voice floats above the piano accompaniment. By listening to the recording over and over again, I prefer the second style over the first style because it requires small amount of mouth movement
As the time comes to induct new songs in the American Music Hall of Fame, I submit my three choices for admittance, and believe they reflect American culture and have artistic value.
Analysis of 7 O'Clock News/Silent Night by Simon and Garfunkel In expressive arts we are studing the topics the 60’s. We listened to the song “7 O'clock News/Silent Night” Simon and Garfunkel. In 1956, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel were juniors at Forest Hills High School in New York City. They began playing together as a group called Tom and Jerry, with Simon as Jerry Landis and Garfunkel as Tom Graph, so called because he always liked to track hits on the pop charts.
Josh Ritter’s “Another New World” is a somber and haunting song, released in 2010 and under the genres of Alternative and Indie. Its purpose is to describe and entertain, much like a story. The audience stems from this purpose, and includes those who enjoy storytelling, or the alternative type of music. The interpretation of this song is influenced by the subject and voice, and the effect of this piece relies heavily on the use of sibilance and personification.
The music industry has undeniably evolved over time and through the betterment of technology, music has the ability to be heard worldwide. Most artists become popularized through the internet and social media, but numerous composers have become well-known through the music they produce for movies. Soundtracks are extremely popular today, especially with the ever growing entertainment industry. One cannot simply hum a tune from a classic Disney film or any other well-known film without others recognizing the piece. The relevance of soundtracks in our culture today would make the main theme from the film “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” a perfect piece to include in this course.
Godspell is a musical that explains various parables from the Gospel of Matthew (and a few from the Gospel of Luke.) The production of Godspell put on at Carthage took a modern approach to the Broadway classic. Instead of philosophers debating religion during the opening, it was college students venting on the internet. Additionally, the actors chose not to don clown makeup after choosing to follow Jesus, but instead, each wore a pin to demonstrate their allegiance. The music is set to modern beats but the lyrics are derived from popular hymns.
For such a small word, “Family,” can mean so much. In a dictionary one may read family as people with common ancestors, but a true family is people who stick together and support one another at any cost. Both books, Night by Elie Wiesel, and, Unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand display the theme of family relationships throughout the story.
While reading page nine through fifteen in the Wake Tech English 111 Reader I learned new strategies and tips on how to improve my song summary essay. I learned how to implement new strategies in my song summary essay so that I could write my introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion proficiently in my paper. Mutually, before reading the Wake Tech English 111 Reader I also did not know that when writing a rough draft for an essay a conclusion, introduction or body paragraph could be written first. Similarly, Ashley I always thought that an introduction had to be written before any other part of an academic essay. Primarily, I thought that an introduction had to be written first because my previous English teachers stressed
In my viewpoint, everyone was preparing for the day in which they should give the answers. every group should have one response form the clues that they have. Each pair had different answers, which were wrong except judge Ford and Sandy. however, they decided to give no answer to protect Westing's ex-wife in page (138). Crow was worried because she felt that they will know about her in page (139). When they shared their responses, Sydelle was the closest one to the answer because of the words song in page (145). However, she chose the wrong person from the song, which was Otis Amber in page (146). Then, judge Ford gave them time to give another answer individually in page (148). They sat watching each other to think who the answer is. Wile
The piece of art I chose is is a song that I listened to a lot as a kid and still listen to today. The melodies and instruments transcend the lyrics. However , the lyrics hold so much more. I lived on a fire station as a kid when this song came out. Actually it was a tape in 1985. I thought because of the association with my dad being gone on fires all the time, that this song “The Working Hour,” related to him and his need to be away working on fires all the time. As an adult, I still feel those feelings as I did when I was 7 yrs old, however now I am the one working. I do the same job, and the working hour means something more to me now then it did when I was a kid waiting for my father to return from fires. This was a time when work to
Art is in its purest sense, humanity collectively trying to impress, relate, and grow with one another and themselves. Music is the art form that embodies all the greater characteristics from other art forms, and puts them into one. In the words of Frank Zappa “Art is how we decorate space, Music is how we decorate time.” Music carries the ability to paint pictures, tell stories, and even showcase the time period they came from.
At first listen, “Breezeblocks” seems like an ordinary “trip-folk” style of music by the foursome also known as Alt-j, but if you listen closer it is discernible that the lyrics go much deeper into the psyche of someone deeply in love and what happens when the love is not reciprocated.
The Sound of Music debuted in 1965 thanks to the music of Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and direction of Robert Wise. The Sound of Music originally premiered on Broadway in 1959, but Robert Wise produced and directed the 1965 film version. The lyrics featured in the 1965 version are hardly changed from the original. The popularity of the 1965 film allowed for the soundtrack to live a life of its own with many of the songs being released as singles. Even the song “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” has recently been remixed for a State Farm commercial. On the surface, the song seems to be a typical love song. Unfortunately, the song has lyrics that covertly portray women in a negative light. These negative aspects were not uncommon thoughts during the 1960s. In the 20th century, women were still seen as inferior to men. This idea is accentuated by the way the male character treats his female love interest in the song. Oscar Hammerstein’s lyrics and Robert Wise’s stage direction in “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” purposefully echo the subconscious thought people had that women should have a lower status than men in the workplace.
Danny Torrance is a clever five year old boy. He loves his father, Jack, and often times waits for him to return from work for hours at a time. Danny, despite the love he has for his father, is isolated from feeling loved by Jack. Jack has physically abused Danny many times in Danny’s short life. The first instance was when Jack dropped Danny on his head as a baby while Jack was heavily intoxicated. According to studies done by John M. Grohol, Psy.D., head trauma at an early age can be the beginning of mental illness and can initiate psychological issues in the future. “Psychiatric issues, including hallucinations and delusions, are certainly more common after
Music in The Music Man Music is an element that can modify the atmosphere of anything. Whether it is in a movie, a party, or in a musical, it can change the scene from melancholy to cheerful. In The Music Man by Meredith Wilson and Franklin Lacey, music is the most important element of the production as it drives the plot and changes the emotion of the audience to match what the playwright imagined. I watched this musical in the Performing Arts Center of North Royalton High School, Directed by Megan Dolar.
Scenario by A Tribe Called Quest is a song that gets someone excited for a journey. It most recognizable part, the chorus, says “Here we go yo, Here we go yo, so what’s the scenario?” The reminds me of Santiago getting ready to begin his journey and the reader thinks to themself “Here we go.” Also the mentioned “Scenario” can symbolise Santiago’s preparation to face anything that could possibly be coming ahead of him in this adventure.
