In my opinion, ‘Eye Contact” deserves 3.5 out of 5 stars. The film was not as scary as it could have been. It would have been scarier if rather than using a shadow as the fear factor, a man was used. The shadow was implied to be a figure of a man, but it would have been more suspenseful if the shadow had more developed features. In the film, Allison Mickelson, the runner, was being followed by a mysterious shadow. The shadow was always present each time she turned around to peek, and the shadow followed her all the way home. When she arrived home she frantically called 911. While calling, the shadow entered her home and she dropped the phone mid-call. The film-maker was successful in creating suspense but not so much making you feel
Ever since the creation of horror there has been more than what meets the surface. Movies in the horror genre require much attention to the details of the film. Whether it be sound, acting, visuals, and the overall foreshadowing of the story. A truly good horror movie utilizes all key aspects of suspense. The 1980s horror movie The Shining, directed by Stanley Kubrick utilized these aspects very well. This allowed The Shining to be one of the most successful and truly suspenseful horror films of its time.
Right off the bat, the tone of the 1995 movie is suspenseful. In the first 20-30 minutes alone, several suspenseful and frightening events take place. The very first scene after the initial credits shows people walking in the woods at night during a storm to
To begin, the suspense laden film, Eye Contact, deserves 5 out of 5 stars. The short story begins with a woman taking a job on a trail up to a lighthouse. She appears to be running in a remote part of a forest. However, a second mysterious character comes into view when the woman spots him staying up at her. Once making it to the lighthouse, where she had been moments before. The film incorporates elements of story like a suspenseful plot, eerie setting, as well as a man versus man theme. These elements helps the film maker create a panicked and worried feel for those watching.

Interpretation and understanding are essential portions of films since it allows the viewers to comprehend the plot. Concurrently, there are films that allow the characters to make sense of their own issues within the footage and engage in the perception of it. In the films, Rear Window (Hitchcock, 1954) and Ali, Fear Eats the Soul (Fassbinder, 1974), the characters are shown interpreting their views, looking for meaning, and forming judgements, as a consequence causing reaction. Both films exhibit the protagonist watching and interpreting its surroundings based on what they see close to them. Thesis
This isn't just another family road trip comedy as I thought it would be. This was a dark and quirky comedy at its best. The script and acting was brilliant, the characters were unusual and the ending was eventful and unpredictable. The grandpa said a lot of things that were probably inappropriate for younger watchers, and he used drugs, but they he ended up dying, which is a positive anti-drug message. Overall a beautiful movie, but parents need to be careful about showing even the edited version for
The imagination that went into the creation of the story line of this film keeps me in awe. This is the film that we have been waiting to watch for years. Ghost and masked killer films are scary but, that is what all directors are producing now. To see Fede Alvarez
The movie is very engaging and had an auteur that made this movie stand out from other movies. While watching this movie over and over throughout the years, I would notice more detail. The fight scene in which I have chosen to analyze caught my attention each time. This one scene included hidden details that can only be noticed if paused and analyze the scene closely.
I did not like the film because the plot was uninteresting to me and it was a dark film. The opening was very unclear, there was no dialogue, and the viewer was made to guess what was happening. People who like drama would probably enjoy the movie for the ending and the acting of Daniel Day-Lewis. I would not go see the movie in theaters. I would only watch this movie if I was bored at
Cold winds blow on a calm New Jersey night. Police sirens create crescendos that fill the air. The moment you begin watching Running Scared, you will be placed in the middle of one of the most fast-paced, suspenseful films that will have you craving every running minute. Viewers’ eyes will widen the very moment the opening scene is presented as he or she is thrown right into the action with the actors themselves. Paul Walker works with New Line Cinema to bring a film for ages to come. This crime thriller will reach every pleasure that movie watchers seek in an unforeseen film through its intense, prodigious cinematography, suspenseful storyline, and synchronous soundtrack.
As far as lighting in this movie, seems like audience are stack because lighting gives the audience a free feelings of the movie. In fact, (Act2, scene3) the dialogue that Porter conveys is very long in one scene and also the lighting is so low it feels like being in prison. Al though the movie was not horror, the lighting should have been lighter.
With its dark and twisting storyline and fascinating themes surrounding the idea of family, it strikes comparisons with Tobe Hooper’s 1982 haunted house story Poltergeist.
In the recent year, new subgenres of movies has been created due to the exploration of new technologies and total reconstruction of the genre. One such genre that has been gaining a lot of popularity is “Observational Horror”. “Observational horror films are those that appropriate the aesthetic of observational documentary cinema’s handheld camerawork” (Raimondo, 2014, p. 66). This aesthetic of the camera playing a big part in the movie and the movie being shot by a character mimics how a video would be shot in a real situation, thus making the events of the movie more relatable and horrifying. It possesses many qualities that make the movies more engaging and frightening.
On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being excellent) how do you rate the film? Explain your answer.
The film had a more serious element to it, making the fear in the film more horrifying. The first half of the film was weird it also took a decent length for things to rumble. Yet unlike the original the death scenes were more gruesome, I closed my eyes in some scenes. Horrific sounds of people screaming sounded so real it scared me. The effects were sweet but the acting was a terrifying tale of chaos on it's on level. I couldn’t have cared less to what was about to happen to these people with their mediocre skills they call acting. Terrifyingly bad acting for a horror film can make it legendary or destroy it. In this storytelling the acting was butchered like a cold slab of rotten meat. I totally thought the homage to “The Shining” was a pleasant trip down memory lane to a better film, but the effects as well as deaths were grisly disturbing images which was one of the things I was digging about this film. To me the connection to the characters weren’t as easy going to which the original
