CHAPTER TWO The Golden Key The sound of soft squeaking against the wood floor awoke me from my dream. I sat up with a jerk and cracked my head on the bed frame. A bright light flashed and then a sharp pain shot across my forehead causing me to wince as I glanced around searching for the noise. A goblin appeared out of nowhere before me sitting cross-legged in my grandmother's rocking chair. "Good morning, Aiden," he said with a unpleasant smirk as he drummed his bony fingers on one his spindly legs. In the sunlight that filtered through my bedroom window he looked ghastly. He was older then the hills, had leering beady red eyes and sharp, shiny fangs that glistened. His skin was an awful shade of greenish-yellow and covered with warts. A shadow fell across my bedroom floor. I looked out of my window and saw witches on broomsticks flying past. Gripped with fear I …show more content…
You're Parents have been whisked away. Not on a dream vacation to a tropical island. But instead, unfortunately for them," he snarled curling his lip and giggled a little, "they've been sent to HORRID place! A place where nightmares are real and creepy creatures are everywhere." "What are talking about?" I replied. "You're a liar. My Mom's probably in the kitchen and Dad, well ... he's someplace around here." "Really, well call for them then and see if they come. Wait a minute, let me call Mummy ... Daddy ..." he laughed and it sent chills down my spine, "come out come out from wherever you are! Shh ... listen Aiden," he said, cupping his hand around his ear, "there's no answer Oh, now I guess you'll have to take back all of those mean and nasty things that you've said about me. I suppose I'm not lying after all. So here's what it all really comes down to. The next time you see your Parents, would you like to see them dead or alive? It's up to you. I personally could care less." "Alive of course!" I shouted and my blood was boiling. "You hurt them and I'll, I'll
“I thought you were by yourself, because I didn’t see your family. So I got nervous.”
Montag and the gang reach the ruins of the city that they once called home. Montag says “This is all that is left of our world now, we must make our own existence.” As he pronounces his leadership of the clan he hears a familiar voice. “Guy!” cries Mildred as she climbs into the arms of the man she onced loved with all her heart. “Mildred, I thought you were dead. I thought the atomic bomb killed you!” Granger asks politely, “Who is this woman and what does she have to do with you?” Montag responds “Her name is Mildred Montag and she is my wife.” Granger puts his hand out as a show of respect and she shakes it firmly. “Ok, Mildred here comes the hard part are you going to accept the fact that books are going to help us rebuild this city?” Mildred responds “Yes, I do think that books will help us rebuild the city.”
The heavy white door of the brightly illuminated log cabin opened up. A man stood in the doorway. He was old, with a grey beard.
Goldie laughed warmly at Edmund, no malice in her tone, shaking her head. "Of course I concern myself with your Papa! I can only imagine what he thinks I must've done to you to keep you out here so late, and after being so kind as to offering me a place to live." She took his smile and flashed one of her own, patting his hand comfortingly before pulling away to fetch her clothing.
Law enforcement rushes in to surround Tendou, the villain Kuroo's just defeated, as Kuroo himself does his best to stay inconspicuous. Some photographer snaps a picture before he can fully melt backwards into the shadows, and he winces.
Nathaniel sat on his horse beside the local ironmonger's shop. There wasn't a light on in the whole street, but he would see it coming. Most had decided to make it an early night but some, those who also knew of its route, were peering out from windows. Constantly parting gaps in the curtains, where several faces gawked. The elderly, curious children. Families peering out as though they knew something awful, yet sickeningly festive, to their community was on the verge of passing their properties. Everyone was waiting for it and they knew of Nathaniel's intentions of trapping, hopefully killing, the mischievous being. Not everybody was happy to
“Let’s just go back to our seats,” I replied, “I have no idea where he is.“
“Well, I’m sure your mom would explain if…” he trailed off, looking toward my house.
“I...I don’t know. Sometimes I wish dad would just come back. And other times I wish he was never alive. He left us, to suffer with an alcoholic mother, while he’s probably living a good life with another wife who’s 20 years younger than him.” I rolled up my sleeve, tracing the scars on my wrist. We stared at the passing cars, hoping one of those was mom’s.
The air in the world is unclean as the bodies of the deceased roam the planet looking for someone to devour as their next meal. Many people are struggling to survive from these creatures as well as other dangers. Some humans have rioted against each other and killing themselves in the process. But there is one person who managed to find a group that took him in as one of their own and his name is Nick. The group’s leader whom Nick is with goes by the name of Zhao, an ex-convict.
“You told him you had some information to share. You wouldn’t give it to him, so I’m here.”
Kilcoyne was uncertain. She knew today was the day she had to ask him for he would slip from her grasp forever. Dirge was quite older than her, 5 years, to be exact, and she felt as if he had only seen her as a child. She had tried many things to impress him, pinning her hair in a new updo, wearing skimpy dresses that hugged her figure, or cracking mature jokes. But she felt like a baby trying to seduce an old man.
“Do you honestly think that I don’t know about the conversations that go on in this family?”.
"See, dad still cares. He sent someone to look after us" she said. Mom stayed quiet and I growled.
The same moment I decided to quicken my speed, a deer burst through the night. I screamed, stumbled and hit the ground with a loud thump. I sat on the moist ground for a moment to try to recover but my heart began to throb as if it was beating within my throat. It was just a deer I told myself, I had to be brave. Trying to get myself together I began to feel this hot puffs of air on the back of my neck. “It’s the goblin!” I screamed as I rapidly rose to my feet. My head spun like an owl as I went to look for what was behind me. I looked to the ground and discovered a little white dog. “You scared me to death little guy. What is a cute little puppy like you doing in a dense forest like this?” I said to him. I was relieved it was only a dog instead of the ghastly goblin, but I only made it half-way home by then. As I proceeded on the white little dog followed me. I felt more at ease now that I had him following me but he would not be considered much of a watch dog to most
