It is 2031, and October 19th is here! Many Americans know what this means: it is the 250th anniversary of the surrender of British forces at the Battle of Yorktown. Many men and women, have laid the foundation of the richest and most powerful country in the world: the United States of America. In the process many have lost their lives and made sacrifices. Multiple people made sacrifices to create a base for our nation. Simply stating you were a Patriot was treason to the King. Since they had no say on their government, the Patriots took action, such as with the Stamp Act which led to the Boston Massacre. Patriots established the First Continental Congress, and they decided to raise an army. It took leaders such as George Washington
In the early years of the United States of America, colonists were trying to gain independence from the surrounding nations and had a difficult time accomplishing it.
In addition the Colonists wanted independence from Great Britain because the king created an unreasonable taxes. Of course was unreasonable because that is what the king wanted He wanted to make the taxes unreasonable so he could get the money. The Patriots lived in Jamestown,Virginia in 1607. Now what did they do? Well they decided to do crafting and trading which was popular back then so that they could get money. Secondly , they created juries of men called “ Committees of Safety”. Finally, they wanted to resist by boycotting or not buying British goods. To put it that way they basically stopped buying British goods so the British will not get as money as they used to do. Now let us talk about the Loyalists
Colonialists were in search of a better life in the newly discovered land of the Americas. Ties with their mother-country of Britannia, over three thousand miles away, resulted in miscommunication and arguments. Eventually these arguments and miscommunications lead to the Revolutionary War, provoking many American Colonists to join the Continental Army. Each soldier from the militia to the regular recruits had reasons to fight; many of these reasons were influenced by the first Age of Enlightenment and other reasons were formed by personal experiences with the conflicts of Britannia and the American Colonies. The movie, The Patriot, presented many reasons that are supported by major historical documents, such as the Declaration of
The Parliament and crown declaring laws to a country, on the other side of the world, was beyond the Patriots in America. With more regulations and rise in taxes, Patriots did not anticipate on letting Britain rule them but rebel and gain their independence. Amongst many were Patrick Henry and Thomas Paine, who proved to the “candid world” that the break from Britain was justified.
For many years America has been under the British rule with egregious taxes and an abundance of rules that were difficult for any man to follow. With the British taking charge of the Colonists they began to think of ways to rebel and oppose the British. They started with the Boston Tea Party; a historical event that changed the colonies forever. Patrick Henry gave a speech to the delegates using persuasive elements such as ethos, logos, and pathos, to push these men into a war against the british to one day be a free country.
During the tense times before the revolution the colonies were fed up with the monarchy of England. Many colonists were thinking of ways for the colonies to branch off and govern themselves. During the time before July 4th, 1776 the colonists were treated poorly by the english rule. England collected unfair taxes and took the many resources from the colonists. The people wanted more
"The distinctions between Virginians, Pennsylvanians, New Yorkers, and New Englanders are no more. I Am Not A Virginian, But An American!" (Patrick Henry in 1774 after the Boston Tea Party.) American colonists gave everything for independence. While independence did not come immediately, many events triggered the Revolutionary war and eventual forming of the Nation we call home. Colonists banded together through oppression and tyranny caused by the British. Prior to the Boston Tea Party, the colonists quietly adhered to Britain's rules and taxations. Over time, angst and anger built up which erupted into the iconic Boston Tea Party. Men came together as brothers in the light of independence and nationalism for their country. The Boston Tea
Due to the conflict during the French and Indian War, tension arose between American colonists and the British government. This caused Americans to unite together to fight for their rights against the British. The Americans boycotted English rule, but this did not work so their only option was to go to war. The tension between the British and the Colonists lead to the revolutionary war. The American colonists were justified in waging war because they were unfairly taxed, their freedoms were denied and the British deceitfully killed the colonist.
American colonists mainly descended from England and were loyal to the British Crown, however, politically the decisions made in the Continental Congress and the stopping of salutary neglect angered the colonists, socially, as a result of unfair taxes, colonists from all the colonies began to rebel and thus have their interests aligned which developed a sense of social unity, and economically after many unjust acts were carried out by the British Empire, the colonies began to help one another, therefore between 1750 to 1776 colonists began to cease their loyalty towards England and develop an independent American identity.
They were loyal to the American government and were mostly interested in the war. They wanted America to get the justice they believed it deserved and were ready to do whatever it took to do so. Not all patriots were interested in war just a few years after the American revolution, but a particular group called the “Warhawks” definitely were. The Warhawks wanted to go to war with Britain and were quite happy to hear about the call to arms in 1812, mainly, because they had suggested president Madison to do so. Having patriots in America may have been why their army was stronger than the British, Americans were more enthusiastic about the war.
In the battle for independence from Great Britain, the founding forefathers of our country came together, uniting for a common cause they would end up fighting for with their lives. Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Benjamin
The patriots wanted to branch off from Britian, but they needed support from the public of the colonies. The people the patriots needed the most were the loyalists, in which wished to stay under the British rule. To swaid the loyalists, patriots made joining them look as if something as heroism. Patrich Henry says in the infamous “Give me Liberty or Give me Death” speech, “The battle, sire, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave…”This is used to make partiotism look
The Patriots fought for an admirable cause, as stated in the Declaration of Independence they believed in fighting for the "unalienable rights: that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" (Ford.153). However, they took these "unalienable" rights away from the
Creating the United States was not easy from the start, but instead it took much sacrifice to become what it is today. There were many factors that helped this nation grow from just the original settlers that discovered America. Some of these issues were more monumental than others, such as the political problems we faced in the beginning. Political conflict could easily be named the largest problem in early colonial history. Early colonists had to learn from other governments and face the British in order to create a society and to make that society a freer place to live in. There were many sacrifices made in order to develop the colonies and then to create a new nation from these original colonies. The colonists battled Parliament until there was a Revolutionary War. The Revolution was actually one of the biggest turning points for the colonists, and these sacrifices helped shape this nation in ways that we still see today.
I would first address the problems that patriots have in there point of view. One of those problems is over taxation of citizens in colonies and plantations. King George III created laws and policies that took away colonist god given rights. For instance the British Government only allowed the colonist to sell goods to buyers in the United Kingdom, by this time England had most control of the Atlantic and if you were caught trading with Spain or France your ship will be searched and you will be fined. These such acts angered colonist to create Groups such as the "Sons of Liberty" and to start the American Revolution. England's King George III is greedy and wants america's money. Staying will Britain will mean certain death, they can't even
