The world has always considered the United States to be the world's greatest power and is therefore considered a paradise for those who dare to immigrate from distant countries or continents. However, not all countries or continents run the same fate. China, for example, although China is one of the largest exporters in the world and is able to match first world countries, China is still considered a third world country because of its socioeconomic problems. However, how do Chinese immigrants differ from their countrymen? The most common difference is that they practice their traditions differently due to American influence. However, many Chinese immigrants see this opportunity to do unimaginable and wrathful things, for example, they combine the American dream with their old tradition of being the best in everything. Amy Tan, a writer of Asian origin described in her story "Two Kinds" as an Asian mother and daughter have many differences due to the place where they were born and because the mother tries to force her to be a child prodigy while the daughter decides to be Away from her mother. The story reflects certain similarities of how the Chinese perceive the American dream and how they use it in the relation with their children. During the story, the girl explains how her mother forced her to play the piano to the point that the girl stop playing and her mother considers her dishonored. She stated: “Only two kinds of daughters," she shouted in Chinese. "Those who are obedient and those who follow their own mind! Only one kind of daughter can live in this house. Obedient daughter!” (Tan 5). According to Amy’s mother, the fact that Amy was unable to play piano perfectly and her forfeit make her feel unable to raise her daughter correctly.
