The atmosphere of the Dixie stampede will make individuals feel as if they are in another world. According to Jim Rule’s article, “Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede to Unveil New Look in 2015,” “Our guests will be transported into the middle of the woods on a star-filled night without ever leaving their dinner seats.” Inside the arena, 12.5 million LED light bulbs produce interactive lighting. Throughout the show, the strobe lights project stars and stripes on the performers and the stage. Some individuals who have certain disorders might consider the flashing lights a downfall, because the lights are so bright and illuminating. The atmosphere is spectacular, and the entertainment makes the show more appealing. “This show is more than a story, it’s an adventure” (“Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede”).

At Yosemite National Park I got a chance to truly experience the nature and wildlife around me. The Merced River ran through the valley, and I could hear the sound of the rushing water from far away. I could hear the whistle of the wind and the birds chirping from high up in the trees. The vivid colors of the flowers there were incredible. On top of Pride Rock, there was a splendid view of famous landmarks including the Half Dome. From OMG Point the view of the valley below was absolutely breathtaking. --Some plants and trees had a nice scent to them.-- The Jeffrey Pine tree had a pleasant aroma of vanilla. I also got a chance to smell the fresh scent of earth when rain was falling on the last but one day of the trip. --We got to taste the leaves
Dolly Parton’s 1973 iconic “Jolene” is a tale about a woman pleading her husband’s mistress to stop seeing him because she knows she can't compete with her beauty. Even though,
Houston is known for their variety of concerts from rock, pop, rap, christian, and country but the most popular concerts here are country. Carrie Underwood is known as the “Queen of Country” in the music industry, she is an amazing songwriter and an outstanding vocalist. This past spring, I was able to experience the best performance of my life. The tour was called, “Carrie Underwood: The Storyteller Tour, Stories in the Round.” But being able to go see this show was way harder than I originally anticipated it to be.

This week I visited the Redlands Bowl, down on 25 Grant St. The Redlands Bowl is an amphitheater that is used for both musical and theatrical performances that are free of charge to the public. The Structure as it stands was built in 1931 by Florence and Clarence White as a gift to the City of Redlands. Every summer the Summer Music Festival is put on by the City at no admission cost. The Festival is the oldest continuous music festival in the United States, and the festival lasts from late June through August. The Redlands Bowl serves as a venue for community events and various productions from time to time. Redlands used to put on a production at the Redlands Bowl called the Redlands Shakespeare Festival that was started all the way back
There is seating down in front of the stage and on the balcony. We were escorted to our seats and told we can go to the buffet and get our food and the show would start in a few minutes. The curtains of the stage are special to House of Blues, they’re called “Crazy Quilt” curtains. They pay respect to enslaved Africans who used the Underground Railroad as passage to freedom. The Jacob’s Ladder Pattern is representative of this. The venues are very inspired by the history of Black Americans. Each House of Blues has a metal box that is filled with Mud from Delta Mississippi. They do this to remind that every performer has the roots and spirits of the South. As we got out food, we walked down the halls and saw more art work, statues, paintings, and various other items. They had chicken and waffles, fruit, mac and cheese, jambalaya, eggs, bacon and sausage, and a lot more. We got back to our seats with our food and a screen came down on stage and a video of Kirk Franklin started to play. He described the brunch and its beginnings. Then people came out clapping and singing. Then the curtains were drawn back and the gospel choir was there. The men dressed in suits, and the women dressed in skirts and
The party was held in a private area in Frontierland at the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree. Sources told Us that the couple rented the private section and included gold blow-up balloons and a stage. The observer added that there were also several large Mini Mouse balloons mixed in with yellow and red balloons.
During the show was entertaining they had Beyoncé, Madonna,Adele,Tina Turner ,and Cher impersonator. While they had an intermission during each performance they would ask for anyone if was their birthday or they were bachelorette. They would bring them up on stage and sit on stage ask questions. Like what’s your age, name, and if you were married or not. If you were up there for your birthday. The night I went we didn’t have any bachelorettes there so I guess would be interesting on what they would do. Also the favorite word there is bitch and I love that about the place. Also while my time there everyone was very welcoming and happy to be there.
The drive to Memphis, Tennessee was long, and dreadful. I endured a full day of nothing but sitting on a bus. I couldn't wait to finally get to Memphis! I had never been to Tennessee, and I was full of excitement like a bee that spotted a beautiful flower. All the way down there all I could think about was all the different sceneries I was going to see. Everywhere traveled was a new experience, and I was beyond excited to take on this one.
In the reading this week, I learned more about how songwriters develop their songs in their own way. I learned about Dolly Parton, Isaac Hayes, Walter Becker and Donald Fagen of Steely Dan, and David Bowie. Starting with Dolly Parton, she is very dedicated to her work; she works really hard for what she wants in her life. When she was growing up, she said that most of her family was very interested in music and songwriting. I thought this was interesting because she learned from her family, and developed skills from them. When she writes, she explains that creating songs happens in many different ways. For example, she might come up with an idea, write it down and later come back to it. Most of her pieces are made from experiences or other people who she knows. Like Jolene, Daddy Come and Get Me and Down from the Dover. She says that when you write it should be free, which reminds the advice of the book “Free Play.”
I stood there at the carnival looking at the night sky with the shiniest stars in sight and the crazy lights from all the stands and rides, but what was best was the feeling the cool fall breeze blowing just when and old friend of mine, Montressor, bumped into me.
The picnic has also had support through the press. Scott Barretta (2015) states, “New Orleans community radio station WWOZ will broadcast all of Saturday’s shows live at http://wwoz.org, while the Memphis-based syndicated radio show “Beale Street Caravan” will record performances for future broadcasts”. Also Highway 61 featured a show on the festival artists, which is hosted by Scott Barretta and WREG News Channel 3 featured a television promotion for the festival. The music performed at the North Mississippi Hill County Picnic according to Scott Baretta (2015) “Is characterized by nontraditional song structures, an emphasis on the groove and few chord changes, caught on with international audiences in the 1900s”. The show American Roots, which is a national radio show, features tracks from the picnic. The Italian Blues magazine did a full feature in 2011 and the Switzerland Blues Rules festival was created after the North Mississippi Hill County Picnic and features some of the picnic artists yearly.
Turning 50 later this year and a mother of one, Twain hasn’t lost her audience in a genre severely dominated by men. According to Billboard’s 2014 year end chart, of the top 25 country artists, only 2 included a female artist, making Twain’s established popularity all the more impressive. Yet, Twain largely avoided playing the sex card, unlike many of her country contemporaries. Her show is suitable for everyone, perhaps due to her maturing age, or possibly to cater to her wide demographic. Despite her last hit being from over 10 years ago, the ages of the audience ranged from 8 to 80 and although the gender divide may have been slightly tilted toward the ladies, there were plenty of men in attendance. It appears that Twain still has a place within youth
