In Neel Burton’s article, “Is Ambition Good or Bad?” Burton insists that ambitious people achieve for the “sake of the rewards of the achievement,” including that of money, honor, and title. He claims that no person may alter their ambition, much like any other characteristic a person may own. He supports his claim by first mentioning Ethics (1677), “everyone endeavors as much as possible to make others love what he loves, and to hate what he hates,” because he who has achieved one persons following, will soon achieve another “for which to keep on striving,” (4).
