This story describes the life of the author's father. Although, it is odd he never mentions any personal memories of his bond with his father. While the author was growing up it seems as though his father was too concerned with his struggles of life and never built a bond with his son. In today's society economic, social, and other desires hinder parents and children from having effective and valuable relationships. His father was occupied trying to locate a stable job for his family. His father's drinking problem and adulterous ways of living joined with constantly moving made it difficult to have a steady relationship with his son. I spotted that the author did not mention about his wife and son and their relationship much. Therefore it is likely that he would suffer from the same incapability to form a bond with his son, just like his father was unable to do with him. From the very beginning of the story, the inescapable conclusion was known, foreshadowing its tragic end. Jefferson,a young black man, was convicted of murder and sentenced to death. The story is about the events that took place from the time of conviction to the time of the execution. The two main iconic figures, Jefferson and Grant Wiggins, fought not to change the outcome of their positions but to change the outcome of their personal fate and the fate of others that surrounded them. This shift in themselves led them to discover more about themselves in a short amount of time than what they have learned in their entire lives.

The show follows several ‘mini-divas’ and their ‘attention-deprived parents’ as they make their journey through the world of child pageantry. It teaches the girls corrupt and superficial values, puts their futures at risk and also leads to parental pressure and what may be considered by some as child abuse. It give the girls a false sense of accomplishment they do not deserve.

Now, in the twenty first century, girls ages four to seventeen wears a full face of makeup and fancy little dresses, walking down a runaway getting judged whether or not they look good and if their posture is just right. Beauty pageants for young girls can make them feel like their worth depends on physical beauty and not on their character which is why beauty pageants should be discontinued because they make young girls feel emotionally empty and physically unattractive when they lose these beauty pageants. Parents are putting their young girls into something they can not comprehend and so the child is confused. Parents start their girls out when they are less than a year old, and they eventually start wearing makeup, using self tanner on their delicate skin, wearing fake eyelashes, fake hair pieces and even fake teeth just to get judged on stage.
