Words of Courage The way someone views life should be beyond imaginable. Author, Tupac Shakur, gives narrative poems of his views of life and what should be granted to the world. Each poem displays an overall theme of endurance despite the boundaries he faces as well as the world. The poem “Liberty needs Glasses,” explains how there should be more freedom granted to the people. Tupac explains how the freedom “given” to us is an understatement. Although slavery is over, peoples’ minds are still shackled. The meaning of freedom between citizens and the government are observed differently between the two groups. In addition, the poem “The Rose that Grew from Concrete,” gives a narrative poem of persistence. Individuals are capable of having dreams bigger than themselves despite the boundaries they face. Tupac explains that having struggles is the road to someone’s dreams becoming reality. Discouragement is only in the mind of an individual and should not interfere with any bodies goals they are trying to obtain. Furthermore, the poem “Life through My Eyes,” gives an analysis of what life is through the eyes of the author. This narrative poem resembles pain as the author gives his past a recapitulation. As many narrative poems would be, it is highly emotional. Lastly, the poem “In the Event of My Demise,” the author shares how he would like to be remembered. It is important that one reaches their goal
In our readings, the authors yearned for a more simplistic approach to life and looked back on their lives and wondered if they are living correctly. They had left the human restraints of society, that separate them from nature, to search for the answers that no one seems to have the answer to. “ I had crossed the highway, stepped over two low barbed-wire fences...” (Dillard 6) “I’ll
The poem “The Rose That Grew from Concrete” by Tupac is about having dreams, ambitions and obtaining them, despite the circumstance one is put in. The rose disguises an individual who has been raised in burdensome ghettos, which is represented as the concrete. The rose is found “Proving nature’s laws wrong it learn 2 walk without having feet” henceforth no one expected one coming from the burdensome life of the ghettos to make something wonderful out of themselves. Subsequently “By keeping its dream it learned 2 breathe fresh air,” undoubtfully, as one focuses on their ambition, nothing, even the lack of a good people and surrounding will not get in their way. On the grand scheme, I have a dream as well, to complete university with very high
If you were born in dangerous place with even more dangerous people around you, would you still push through life and try as hard as someone without a set back would or would you take the easy way out and drown yourself in self-pity?
Tupac Shakur was an iconic artist, actor, and poet in the 20th century. He was born on June 16, 1971, in Manhattan, New York, and raised by his mother, Afeni Shakur. In conclusion to sum up everything in the essay I wrote poverty in the African American society is a big problem, change needs to come to give the women of our generation the respect they deserve for being strong. The respect level for women is undeniably strong and many people do not care or give little effort to fix it. The song “Keep your Head Up” shows me that Tupac can see most of the American society abusing women. The women goes through so much when a man get up and walk out of her life and especially if there is a baby in her stomach or in other cases a baby already born. A woman goes through so much, but men and other people will never know the pain, but at the end of the day the best thing you can do is pick your head up and keep
Therefore, his objective was to get society to see through his eyes in the hopes that it would awaken their minds and spark a change. Ginsberg was critical in identifying all of the constraints placed on society and was outraged when those that chose not to conform were punished or expelled from the universities. This social culture was cause for his intense feelings of sadness yet hope for a brighter future. Ginsberg was passionate in promoting individuality and creativity and didn’t hesitate to oppose the way society and in particular universities, wanted people to think and behave. As a result, his passion inspired his tone of the poem to be critical, outraged and
Tupac is probably one of my favorite artist or the best artist to every live. I started to like listening to Tupac because of my uncle he was a big fan of him and used to listen to all his albums he has made. The first time I listen to Tupac he really caught my eye the things he used to talk about in his music really caught my attention. I used listen to his music while cleaning up the house. The things I really used to like about his writing is he used to talk the less fortune and people who was struggle and the drugs and the gun violence. For most kids growing up in this in these type o this type of places they could relate to him and understand where he coming from. He was talking about how felt like he had to grow up to fast and to become a man at an early age. As growing up in certain condition I could relate to some of the things that he is saying throughout the things he says in his songs.

“The underdog just turned to the wolf” (Big Sean, 2016). An underdog story is always inspiring to people who are trying to achieving a goal. The songs “Lose Yourself” by Eminem and “The Rose That Grew From Concrete” by Tupac Shakur are great examples of underdog stories. Both of these art pieces show unexpected growth, doubt of the protagonist, and motivates the reader.
Poetry has a special ability to drive in a main theme or point in the same way that a powerful image can. It does this through careful selection and use of the language, ensuring the words create an image in the minds of the reader that is even stronger than the words themselves. Like a powerful image, poetry can transfer a sense of meaning directly to the subconscious brain without the conscious mind realizing it. By paying special attention to how this is done within the poem, analyzing the words used and how they are put together, the meaning of the poem moves back into the conscious mind and can relate profound meaning regarding the human condition or the state of society. In his poem “HOWL”, Alan Ginsberg attempts to comment on the state of modern society and its effects on the “best minds” and “angel-headed hipsters” as the hipsters become crushed under a force collectively termed Moloch from which the only escape is madness.
short poems from the Modern poet Daniel Saint and G Yamazawa , creates a poem that describes life itself in many aspects. As you move through life it becomes harder and arder each day. Living makes cynics and pesimists , living makes eac day more confusing as you finally are able to see things for what they are , once blinded by positivity and optimism the veil is lifted and we start seeing life for how ugly and dissapointing it truly is . There is no peace in the world , its not realistic , peace is how you choose to respond to the crap that surrounds everyone.
Symbolism and imagery convey the speaker’s initial mindset that life will always remain dull and gloomy. For example, what begins as a sorrowful day transitions into the speaker’s whole life, which he describes as “cold, and dark, and dreary,” (7). Addressing the entirety of life in this manner identifies immense emotional unrest. This negative mindset influences the belief that there are no moments to cherish in life. In addition, the speaker discusses his unsettling thoughts that “cling to the
The central theme of this poem is that wealth and status don't ensure happiness. While reading this poem, it guides students to uncover the theme and make connections to the world they live in today. The poetry makes it about a wealthy celebrity today who have died unhappy or who have fallen out of the spotlight. In this composition, the theme is the existential aloneness of each human being.
One of the aims of this project was to provide an opportunity for individuals, and more importantly the oppressed, to liberate their minds. Language has immense power in liberating and creating transformative social change. Freire (2005) states that language is never neutral and cannot exist without thought (p. 96). Despite the fact, language can be used as a tool of control by the oppressors. It also holds the ability to be used as a means of liberation. Using creative language, such as contributing to the community poetry project, can grant individuals the ability to contemplate how their individualistic modern-selves fit within a greater community. This can lead to realization.
