Africa is the second largest of the earth's seven continents, covering about twenty-two percent of the world's total land area. From its northern most point, to its southern most tip is the distance of nearly five thousand miles. Africa is both north and south of the equator. The Atlantic Ocean is located west of the continent, and the Indian Ocean is on the east. Width of the continent is also nearly five thousand miles. Although Africa is so large, much of it is inhabitable. Desert soils, which have little organic content, cover large areas. The Sahara Desert, in the northern part, covers more than one fourth of Africa, and the Kalahari Desert is in the southern part of the continent. These two deserts are a
To begin with, West Africa is known for its interesting land features, landforms, and its gradually changing climate. For example, Lake Chad is one of West Africa's well known features. Lake Chad is one of Africa's largest freshwater lake, and is know for its shrinking over time in size. Some other rivers located in this region include the Senegal, Niger, Volta, and the Benue river. Oceans surrounding this region include the Atlantic Ocean which is south of this region. The two types of coasts in this region include a
The county of South Africa is an economically flourishing country and probably the most advanced country on the continent of Africa. However the entire continent of Africa is probably the most undeveloped part of the world. Why is South Africa so different from the rest of its continent? Karen Politis Virk explains that it is because of South Africa’s developed economy and diverse population (Virk 40). South Africa has three main ethnic groups: African, Afrikaners, and the mixed race. The Afrikaners and mixed races have many roots to Europe and Asia giving the nation even more diversity and a culture melting pot. This set the nation apart from the rest of the African nation in which the majority of the residents are of native African

Africa is land of various climates, deserts to the north, in the middle of the contenent, lays large jungles, and plains and mountains to the south. The whole southern end itself is various, not only in its in its cultures, but its peoples too. Between the beginning of the 19th century and the beginning of World War I in 1914, there was a power struggle between 3 major groups of people: The British, who had once inhabited the Cape Colony and had returned, the Native Africans, who had been there for some time, and had learned to live off the land, and the Boers, the descendants of the Dutch who had lived in the cape until the British returned. All of these people held power, but none of them held on to
Africa is a grand and glorious continent, and is home to some of the most wonderfully intereddting and diverse countries you will ever visit. From South Africa to Zimbabwe, Morocco to the Seychelles, Africa gives travellers the best of absolutely everything.
I am interested in the growth and development of South Africa and so that is why I chose something to do with the economy of South Africa. Another reason behind me choosing this topic is because it is and will originate from a place close from home, Durban. South Africa can grow through trade and this project promotes that in that there is the Dube Tradeport and The King Shaka International Airport. The goods that are at the Dube tradeport and come from the tradeport, will be what will be exported and imported in South

Christina: When you picture Africa, what do you see? Some may answer that they see the wide open plains of the Savannah and the immense diversity of animals that inhabit it. Others may envision the huge thriving cities in South Africa where tourists often visit to enjoy the beaches or take a stroll through a national park. Even others may imagine the indigenous peoples who still live all throughout Africa and whose ways of life are so starkly different from those of Western societies and other parts of the world. No matter what you imagine, it is easy to see that Africa is associated with a variety of images, but which one is accurate?
Have you ever wondered how it would feel to be considered inferior because of your race? The people of South Africa had to endure racial inferiority during the era of apartheid. The apartheid laws the government of South Africa made led to an unequal lifestyle for the blacks and produced opposition.
South Africa has a vast history of colonialism, migration and emigration, racial and gender segregation, epidemics, income inequality and extreme violence that has intrinsically affected and shaped the Healthcare System (South Africa Info, 2015). The apartheid is a major contributor of the problematic health system. Although, development in the public healthcare sector has occurred over the years, it still lacks adequate leadership and good management. Despite the policies initiated to benefit the citizens, a lagging implementation system is derailing its potential. South Africa has political and economical changes it has to undergo in order to produce an effective healthcare system. (South Africa Info, 2015)
Apartheid was an act that South Africa performed. It seprated whites, blacks, asians, and others. The rule didnt allow them to go to the bathroom together, live together, and they couldnt marry each other. This happened because the afrikaners (dutch) took over this land from the blacks, and in order to stay in power against them they seprated them. Unfair living conditions, country events, and incredible people helped to stop Apartheid in South Africa.
Aids Nearly 13 % of South Africans in the ages of 20 - 64 are infected with HIV. Between 6 - 10 million South Africans are likely to die of AIDS in the next ten years (The Economist May 27th 2000).
The country has 9 Provinces, each with its own government with a provincial legislature, premier and executive council. Each province is different in its own way with unique landscapes, populations, economies, and climates. Before 1994, South Africa had only four Provinces and those four provinces were divided into racial and language groups.
