How could societies from hundreds of years ago influence both the past and the present? When historians and archaeologists look back on the thriving communities of the Maya, Aztecs, and Inca their question is answered. These societies were introduced many products and ideas. The Mayan, Aztecan, and Incan societies heavily influenced the past as well as the present. The Maya, Aztecs, and Inca were tremendously influential in their prime and their legacy . Looking at the Maya, the first accomplishment that they achieved was creating accurate calendars by studying stars and astrology. This helped the society know the dates of important events like deaths or annual festivals. One of the other accomplishments of the ancient Mayan
The greatest of the achievements that the Mayans had came mostly from hard work and their genius ways of doing complex things and making them look easy. Documents A, D, And C talked about how the Mayans Used their minds to the best of their ability. For example, the Mayans built trade routes, created a calendar to tell the time of the month/seasons, and lastly, they created symbols for numbers to do math easier and more efficient.

Mayan, Aztec, and Inca Advancements. Did you know that the Incas were so advanced at stone masonry that they did not use concrete or anything like that when building structures, and something as thin as paper couldn't even fit between the rocks? The Mayans lived in Mexico and Central America around 1500 BCE, the Aztecs covered most of Mesoamerica in 1400 CE, and the Incas were in Peru during 1450 CE. The Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas advanced because of their astronomy, architecture, mathematics, and, most importantly, engineering. The Incas, Aztecs, and Mayans used astronomy for religious purposes, agricultural purposes, or calendars.
The Mayan, Aztec, and Inca civilizations brought major accomplishments to the world today. These accomplishments established them as advanced societies during their time without the influence of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Some of these accomplishments ranged from agriculture to architecture and on to writing and trade. Such as, the Mayans with their agriculture system of chinampas and there monumental temple/pyramids, the Aztecs with their trading in the city of Tenochtitlan, and the Incas with their road and bridge system connecting the whole empire.
The Mayan civilization had a large population of farmers, they also traded goods with each other, and carried their goods in huge dugout canoes along rivers and around coasts. This civilization prospered for centuries. They even studied the stars and developed sophisticated and accurate calendars. They also practiced religious rituals and worshiped a crowded pantheon of gods and goddesses, but the society was hierarchical, so they worshiped gods, goddesses, and their king by rank. This civilization was influential because they developed the science of astronomy, calendar systems, and hieroglyphic writing. Although the Maya was an amazing society, it grew to the point where there weren't enough farmers to supply them with resources and were then conquered by the Spanish.
The Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas had made multiple major accomplishments that have impacted our world today. For example, the Mayans had created a calendar containing three-hundred sixty-five and a quarter days and became one of the most accurate calendars of the known world. The Incas had accomplished creating irrigation systems that are being studied and used today. Another prime example is how the Aztecs had the largest city of the known world, which was home to over 150,000 people with a variety of highly organized markets. How was it that these three civilizations came to contribute so many accomplishments without any influence from other civilizations such as the European, Roman, and
Agriculture, especially corn growing, was important for the size and sophistication of the Native Americans.
•Aztecs – The Aztecs were a native group centered in Mexico, and thrived between the 14th and 16th centuries. In hieroglyphic writing, astronomy, and mathematics, the Mayan Indians were far ahead of any other people in the New World.(Foley 20) The Mayan invented a solar “civil” calendar including three hundred sixty- five days.(Ivanoff 86) The accuracy of the Mayan calculations is all the more extraordinary in view of the fact that they had no
The Maya were also great mathematicians. They are credited with having a more sophisticated number system than anyone else in the world at the time. They understood and used the value of zero at a time as early as 36 B.C.E. This is remarkable because not very many civilizations understood the concept of zero. They also had a number system with place values. It was a base-20 system. There is evidence of the Maya working with sums that go up to the millions (Mastin, Luke). As stated before, they also calculated the length of the year more accurately than the calculations used in the Gregorian calendar. These achievements are incredible, especially since they were isolated from the rest of the world until a while later.
The Mayan civilization society was very complex and intelligent; rising to become very influential to people in different areas and much of their influence is still felt today. Relics indicate they were very skilled in mathematics, education, astronomy and astrology, agriculture, architecture, and politics. They originated in the Yucatan area of present day Mexico between 250 and 900 A.D.
