Andrew Jackson was an awful president because he acted as a king or a dictator and he caused the Trail of Tears. Andrew Jackson sold slaves in bulk and expanded slavery to the western states. He murdered many people including Charles Dickenson. Although Jackson was an orphan, he falsely stated that he was a “common man”. Andrew Jackson was a murderer. He caused the deaths of approximately 4,000 Native Americans and stole the land of them (http://www.cherokee.org/About-The-Nation/History/Trail-of-Tears/A-Brief-History-of-the-Trail-of-Tears). Jackson was part of approximately 100 duels (http://teachingamericanhistory.org/past-programs/hfotw/120528-2/). He even said “My God! Have I missed him?” (http://teachingamericanhistory.org/past-programs/hfotw/120528-2/). Andrew Jackson was upset that he missed the chance to kill a person. A murderer does not make a good president. The definition of murderer is “a person who commits murder; a killer; a slaughterer”(https://www.google.com/search?q =Dictionary). Jackson eventually became a General in the United States Army and later a lawyer. Most people at this time were farmers and few were lawyers or generals. Andrew Jackson campaigned as the “common man” while he was a wealthy landowner. Although he did rise up, he did deceive the people into believing that he was a poor man that understands the misfortune of being the majority in a place where the minority prospers. He also campaigned as “a man of the people”. As a man of what people? The wealthy veteran, lawyer, slave owners? The people bought his lies and made him a president.
