The Life and Times of Frida Kahlo 1. Frida Kahlo was born on July 6, 1907, in Coyoacán, Mexico City, Mexico. She grew up with her parents and three sisters in a blue house built by her father. Kahlo’s father, Guillermo Kahlo (1871-1941), was a German immigrant. Many sources have said he was of Jewish heritage, but recent genealogical research has shown he was from a Lutheran family.

Robert Marion La Follette was born on June 14, 1885 in Primrose, Wisconsin. Nicknamed Fighting Bob and Battling Bob, La Follette attended the University of Wisconsin from 1875-1879 and after he graduated he became the county district attorney from 1880-1884. During his time as a district attorney La Follette married his college sweetheart, Belle Case on December 31, 1881. La Follette was elected as a congressman for the southwest area of Wisconsin. As congressman, La Follette often voted against the majority and the party bosses. During his reelection in 1890, La Follette lost drastically and decided to go to Madison, Wisconsin to practice law. From these experiences La Follette became a popular leader due to his personality; he was outgoing and was an eloquent public speaker.

As a child she felt so isolated, spending up to 7 hours a day practicing the piano, and growing up in the south in the segregation era, she felt as she could not fit in neither with the white or black community, even when surrounded by other children all they wanted to

Ella grew up in the chaotic streets of Harlem listening to a variety of pop, blues, and jazz artists, as she developed a unique style of jazz voice that represented combined elements of American culture. Ella Fitzgerald helped to not only popularize jazz, which was seen as a feeder of the rebellious 1920s lifestyle, but she also aided in the acceptance of American music of the black female. Her music proved to powerfully advance racial relationships and the role of women in the American music industry.

Her Mother was Hannah Stanley Haywood, she was an enslaved woman owned by George Washington. Anna had two older brothers, Andrew and Rufus. Andrew was a slave in early years, but in later years fought in the Spanish-American War. Rufus was a slave in early years, but later he became musical group leader of Stanley's Band. In Anna's early years she started school at the recently opened Saint Augustine’s Normal School and Collegiate Institute in Raleigh. During her many years at the school, she retained a lot of knowledge, and became a very bright young lady. She was very good in many subjects like math, science, and English literature.

Annie’s photographs have appeared in a numerous magazines and publications. She had such a successful career as a portrait photographer as she made many accomplishments and achieved big time awards. She was born into a Jewish family where she was one six children of Samuel Leibovitz and Marilyn Edith. Unfortunately, her parents never got married. Her father, Samuel Leibovitz, was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force, and her mother, Marilyn Edith, was a dance instructors. The family moved frequently with her father's duty assignments, and she took her first pictures when he was stationed in the Philippines during the Vietnam War.

Oskar Schindler is a hero for saving over one thousand Jews, he used his position and money to save the Jews. Nobody really knows why he saved the Jews but they are happy that he did. We can’t imagine what all the Jews went through.
