The Restoration Period was an era of new things for theatre, women were just starting to appear on stage and with them, groundbreaking female playwrights also emerged. Among them was Aphra Behn, the first female playwright to to make a living off of her writing. Aphra’s life was full of difficult times and struggle but was still colorful and full of creation. Aphra was many things, a playwright, poet, novelist, She was a woman trying, and succeeding, to make it in a man’s world but it wasn’t without hardship. In her early years of womanhood, she was married to a Dutch merchant after moving to England after living in the West Indies for her 18 years of life. Soon after the marriage she was widowed, she then went to The Netherlands as a spy, serving King Charles II in Antwerp in 1665, during the Anglo-Dutch War. She was the first woman in England to declare herself a professional writer, and she did this at the height of the Restoration Period. In all of the places throughout history for women to emerge on stage this was the time to do it. The Restorations Period was the roaring 20’s of theatre. Elizabethan Theatre was drawing from and fusing with Italian and French drama, architecture and design and with these new trend developing when was there a better time to introduce women to the stage. This was also a time were bawdy comedies were extremely popular, it became an unspoken rule of comedy and Behn did not disappoint, two of her plays The Town Fop and The Rover both went as far to show a scene taking place in a brothel. As she grew as a writer her plays became increasingly political in response to contemporary events, and in particular, the public hysteria over the Popish Plot. Although she was successful she did receive ridicule from some members of the public but she defended herself. When challenged on her play Sir Patient Fancy she responded with this

There was a high food shortage in 1946 and this caused many to ration. World War II left a deep wound in India as two and a half million Indian soldiers were sent to aid the allies and 24,000 killed. Many were unemployed as they lost their jobs after the war since there was no need for war production. Gandhi’s party, Indian national congress, created in 1885 seemed it would be the power that ruled after Britain left. This changed, however, as the All Muslim league became popular during World War II. Muslims were a minority compared to the Hindus. The Partition of 1947 created Pakistan, where the Muslims would live, and India, where the Hindus would live.

When Norse F. Rabalais who was born and raised in Simmersport, Louisiana (Avoyelles Parish) was a child there was no navigation lock to lower ships to the Mississippi, the water just poured out, ships with it, and flowed into the distributary known as Atchafalaya. A lot of parishes above New Orleans and quite a bit north of Baton Rouge (Louisiana’s capital) there’s a navigation lock in Mississippi’s bank allows ships to drop out of the river. Because of nature, they drop up to thirty-three feet then can go west or south. This is something very strange and rare between the river and its adjacent terrain. That adjacent terrain is known as Cajun country. The local parishes are Pointe Coupee Parish and Avoyelles parish.

In contrast to Jefferson, Bechdel does not explicitly list historical figures who promoted and worked for gay rights, but rather views her own life as teetering alongside and intermingling with national history, sometimes shaping it or welcoming its subtle influences into her life. For example, Bechdel describes how she has a “hallucinogenic memory of a throbbing welter of people in a large circle”—probably in Washington Square Park, where the Stonewall Riots had just occurred; she speculates on whether “a lingering vibration, a quantum particle of rebellion” might still have “hung in the humectant air” (Bechdel 104). Bechdel may not have been there for the riots or cited them as an active force in her self-realization, but these riots remind her of the reality of the newly born and
After the arrival of the Europeans, the Beothuk, who were typically coastal dwelling bands, were forced to move further inland in Newfoundland. This change in their natural environment affected their economic production. No longer able to have easy access to the coast and the food sources it provided, the Beothuk needed to increase their hunting of land mammals. Instead of fishing from their canoes, the Beothuk would create "deer fences" which would funnel the herding caribou, making them easier targets to use their bow and arrows. This change in their economic production also affected their demography. Having to adapt their way of gaining sustenance, their population began to decrease as a result. Without the variety and ease that coastal

Anne Bradstreet (1600’s) and Phyllis Wheatley (1700’s) wrote poetry in two different centuries. Their topics, themes and the risks these women took in their writings are groundbreaking in that they paved the way for women’s rights today. Both women are known as the first published poets of the new world. Bradstreet’s writings were first published in 1650 and her poetry included controversial subjects such as the relationship between a husband and wife, displays of affection, and women who have made their place in society as leaders. These topics were not typical of women who were brought up a Puritans. In fact, the puritans did not approve of public displays of affection.
In 1993, Ishmael Beah along with his brother Junior and their friend Talloi experienced a new kind of music called "Rap". These young kids loved the expression of rap and hip hop and the culture behind it. Since it wasn't very popular in Sudan. They had organized a rap group when he was just eight and had been rapping together ever since. They had first seen that kind of music on television and met every other weekend to study it. They didn’t even know for a long time what it was called, but were impressed with the fact that black fellows knew how to speak English really fast and to the beat. Later on, Junior had gone to secondary school where other boys had taught him more about foreign music and dance. This is how they came to know about hip-hop.
Otwin Beschlager, an apprentice blacksmith from Ristedt, a small Ostland village near Schloss Lenkster, was called into service as a member of the local militia known as the "ochsemäntel[1]" during the Storm of Chaos. The ochsemäntel assisted troops under the command of Ostland's Kurfürst Graf, Valmir von Raukov, at the Siege of Schloss Lenkster, and they were forced to retreat with them into Hochland when the castle fell under a bombard of Dämongeist Cannons. Ristedt was sacked in the conflict by Chaos forces and all the inhabitants, Otwin's family included, were massacred. The Kurfürst Graf of Middenland, Boris Todbringer, mounted a joint counter-offensive with Graf von Raukov, but the effort was hampered when Beastmen attacked the primary
It was in 1973, that a young, brazen and ostentatious Donald Trump, met one of New York’s most notorious attorney: Roy Cohn, whose name was synonymous with the rise of manipulative political power acts. Roy was known to be a ruthless prosecutor who had mastered control over all the loopholes in the law and had become the premier practitioner of hardball deal making, offering his help to defend even the mafia networks. Cohn became a business mentor and nearly a second father to Trump. Trump first hired Cohn to sue the federal government. The allegations that Trump faced had accused him of renting his prime apartments only to White people thereby showing a racial bias. This was clearly against the fair housing act which the congress had passed.
Aphra Behn’s novel, Oroonoko, gives a very different perspective on a slave narrative. Her characters embody various characteristics not usually given to those genders and races. Imoinda’s character represents both the modern feminist, as well as the subservient and mental characteristics of the typical eighteenth-century English woman. Oroonoko becomes an embodiment of what is normally a white man’s characteristic; he is the noble, princely, and sympathetic character that is not usually attributed to black men in general throughout most novels of slavery. The complete opposite character style is given to the slavers; the English are viewed as the barbaric, cunning, brutal characters that are usually portrayed in opposite and more generous
