APOLLO 13: THE TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGES. WHAT HAPPENED BY ZAVIAN ALI
The Apollo 13 mission left a great legacy and may have been one of the greatest mission of Nasa. The astronauts pulled off an amazing run by having to survive of lack of oxygen and lack of warmth. This is because the rupture in the oxygen tank exploded, which caused the inside of the spacecraft to get damaged. The stability was very unstable. "Houston we have a problem" This is what James A. Lovell to nasa after some problems with the oxygen tank. Some people call Apollo 13 the successful failure. Apollo 13 had a exploration impact on history for making nasa work harder to make better machines and also had a impact on history in the technological way. The astronauts had to

Another thing about Apollo 13 was that important was that it changed science and technology, knowing that people might've died in the spacecraft made scientist realize that technology is important in these types of situations. A long term effect that Apollo 13 left on this earth was that the technology and its tremendous impact on change. For example one way that the technology changed was that The development of that integrated circuit, the forbearer to the microchip, basically is a miniaturized electronic circuit that did away with the manual assembly. Another long term effect that Apollo 13 caused was that it showed that even if you don't think you can overcome it you can. Even today people still use Apollo 13 as a reference by saying nothing is impossible after all of the things the astronauts in Apollo 13 faced. A short term affect about Apollo 13 was how would NASA as a whole respond to this. Would they take a Apollo 13 as a challenge and make better machines or would they continue working with the same machines and not do anything about this tragedy that almost occurred . The answer to this is that yes …show more content…
They were calm and collective in the emergency issues. Nasa made more safety regulations so that space ships would be more careful and more sturdy. Hopefully in the future any oxygen tanks will not explode in air so that astronauts do not have to feel what Apollo 13 astronauts went through. After finding out that Nasa changed the way they build their technology all of astronauts were happy and excited that safety hazards have changed. In my opinion I think that Nasa should have more people on board and then they can help people if any of these situations were to happen again. Apollo 13 made history by having to orbit the moon and going back. They did not complete the mission or objective but they still lived. This is also another reason why it is called the successful failure. Apollo 13 was a great topic to learn about and also amazing to see what happened to the scientists and how they survived in the situation that they were in. They were very brave and not worried at all. The astronauts were calm and collective. They orbited the moon once and had to go back to earth and jump in the pacific ocean. Some of the astronauts were sick to They had the bad case of the flu. It is surprising to how they did what
Every employee of NASA should known the tragic event of Apollo 13; At that time in 1970 the three astronauts James Lovell, Fred Haise and Jack Swigert had to abort their mission to flight to the moon due to an explosion of an oxygen tank. They had to fight against, carbon dioxide, coldness, a lack of energy and the almost certain death. Despite of a distance of 205,000 miles the three men made it back to earth alive in the Lunar Module Aquarius (Lovell et al. 2006). This was only possible with the help of the Mission Control and the Flight Director Gene Kranz which worked together as an excellent team and came up with a richness of ideas to save the
NASA has been around for 50 years, and they already sent over 200 missions into space. Each mission has its own discoveries and its own flaws. They all changed the way we look at our solar system, galaxy, and the universe. Some of them were successful and some were not. These missions have helped NASA a lot. Curiosity, Apollo 11, and Hubble have helped the world by discovering new things, making spinoffs, and successfully completing their mission.
“One small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind.” These were no longer the words of an American… they were of a mere human (The Apollo 11 Moon 18). The Apollo 11 moon landing has played an important role in today's society. It skyrocketed America's optimism in a time of agony and grief as well as boosting the nation’s level of technology within a small period of time (The Apollo 11 Moon 45-54). The landing also changed the view of the world which played into the beginning of the environmental movement (The Apollo 11 Moon 110-121). Overall, the landing of the Apollo 11 was a turning point in history that allotted for the improvement of international cooperation as well as the creation of many new ideas and technologies.
The Apollo 13 mission was a significant historical event, because of the dangerous repercussions that followed the explosion of the oxygen tank on Apollo 13. The story in which the astronauts Lovell, Swigert, and Haise surviving these errors during the flight is truly incredible. In the movie Apollo 13, the creators depicted most of the events involving the crew’s adventure to and from space quite accurately. Although creating most events successfully the creators of Apollo 13 failed in many regards when it came to the creation of the plans the crew used to survive, and the small details that were missed, involving the crew in the process of flying the space shuttle and surviving the accident.
Those inspiring words of the first man on the moon sure have made their mark in history. Not only did Apollo 11, the first successful mission in landing man on the moon, affect future space discovery, it impacted the world, by helping people understand how much they can be capable. For those reasons , putting man on the moon was and still is a significant moment to this day for all people.
Apollo 13 was launched in April 1970. There was an explosion onboard the shuttle three-fourths of the way to the moon, which damaged fuel and oxygen cells. Getting the astronauts safely back to earth was difficult, but the completion on it proved that space exploration could continue even in the mist of huge challenges. The Apollo Space Program was one of the earliest space programs and it brought about huge advances. Having man walk on the moon for the first time is one of the most remembered accomplishments in the history of space exploration. It set the stage for continued exploration and advances in
The Apollo 11 was the first mission to send men to the moon and have them take a step on another planetary body. The objective of this mission was to complete a national goal of a lunar landing set by President John F. Kennedy. People all around the world were anxiously waiting to see the mission fail or succeed; everyone had heard about it from newspapers to the television, and even going to see Apollo 11 launch in person. Two articles had been made to show the dangerous circumstances Armstrong and Aldrin would have faced outside of Earth in the unknown outer space. Another article shows the success of the two men sacrificing their lives to achieve something no man has ever done. “In Event of Moon Disaster” and “The July 16, 1969, Launch: A Symbol of Man’s Greatness” are two articles that have different purposes and how effective they have been, are affected by speaker, audience, and subject, and each article appeals to its own senses of logos, ethos, and pathos. The biggest benefit of Apollo was the inspiration it gave to a growing generation to get into science and aerospace-Buzz Aldrin.
Although this historical event was in fact a victory over the Russians, the fact that we had the engineering capabilities to put a man on the moon was far more important. Each step of the Apollo missions tested a different aspect of what would be the final mission, putting a man on the moon. The main concern of the mission was getting Armstrong and Aldrin down to the surface and back home safely. Genuine experimentation did not occur until NASA gained confidence in their ability to send astronauts to the moon. Upon contact with the moon’s surface, Armstrong and Aldrin unveiled and read the commemorative plaque on the lunar module’s leg, stuck the U.S. flag in the ground, and then spoke to the current president, Richard Nixon. Most of the science done on the moon included the planting of seismic equipment and a laser ranging reflector, the collection of rock and soil samples, and measuring the trajectory of regolith
Apollo 13 was one of the unlucky missions with an explosion and an unfortunate accident. All of the unfortunate event from apollo 13 was seen to be caused by the actual number of 13. Most individuals reference the number 13 with "terrible luck." Apollo 13 was propelled precisely at 1:13pm from the Kennedy Space Center, on April eleventh, 1970. The sum of the launch date's digits assuming that they are all added from left to right, 4/11/70, is equal to the number 13 and the blast that happened on the apollo 13 spacecraft happened on the 13th of april..Apollo 13 was one of 7 manned missions that entered into outer space. During the preparation for the launch of apollo 13 A lot of, what you could say “misfortune” happened, such as equipment going missing, engines not working and the struggle to load the craft the take off was soon dubbed to be an “Ominous trip”.
Apollo 11 a was when Neil Armstrong stepped foot on the moon. It was a race between America and the soviet union. America won the race by being the first one to ever take a step on the moon. It's one of the most important because Neil Armstrong took foot on a different planet that no other country has ever done before. After he stepped
Apollo 13 was the seventh mission in the Apollo program, and the third designed to bring man to the moon. However, the mission was aborted after a catastrophic oxygen tank explosion left the crew without little heat, potable water, and an increasing level of carbon dioxide in the cabin. Despite the challenges faced, the crew managed to return safely to earth, with careful guidance of the ground crew, on April 17, 1970.
This accomplishment changed the world in terms of space development. Some can not say the USSR won too because the US has done what the USSR could not at the time. “Such attention proved rewarding 12 years later on July 16th, 1969, as Apollo 11, the fifth manned mission of NASA’s Apollo space program, successfully ended the space race as it landed on the Moon” (Ebscohost). As the USSR accomplished a lot, so has the US. The US made an incredible comeback into the race after being behind, and that should be respected. As shown, both sides deserve to be called winners because of what they have
Where Apollo 13 took place and launched, was at the complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center. It happened at 2:13 p.m. EST, April 11, 1970. What had caused it to orbit the moon and come back, was a ciple in the oxygen tank. One thing that happened was on the Apollo 13 spacecraft, a oxygen tank was crippled and they had to orbit the moon and return home. The main event was that for the third time, they successfully lifted off once more, just to run into a problem with the oxygen tank. The people involved (meaning on the Apollo 13) were: Fred Haise, Jack Swigert, and Jim Lovell. It kind of ties in with Apollo 11 because they both went to the moon but, Apollo 11 was made up to beat the Soviet Union in the Space Race by John F. Kennedy. Apollo 13 ties in with the three theme words, Exploration, Encounter, Exchange in these three different ways: Exploration, they explored outer space and learned many new things about plants, if anything grows on the planets, if anything lived there they didn 't know about, etc. Encounter, they encounter many new materials (plastic is one of those things). They had encounter a cripple and the oxygen tank that happened on the Apollo 13. Exchange, they exchanged ideas about what to do about the cripple of the one of the oxygen tank. They were trying to exchange communication on how they were doing in space. A fun fact about Apollo 13 is that it is the seventh manned mission in the American Apollo Space Program. Shortly after the

After watching the movie Apollo 13, all I can take away is irritation, several unanswered questions, and poorly explained minute details relating to traveling in space. While some details are easy to understand, such as the effects of gravity on weight and the effects of space travel on the human body, many instances of scientific references are made under the presumption that the viewer understands what is being said. Along with the inability to detail the process of achieving space travel, the details they did include were often inaccurate, for example the display of evident sexism. While this movie did roughly indulge in the chronicles of previous space missions and the tension between the United States and Russia in the on going “Space Race”, there is very little mention of the science behind the mission, making this more of a poorly represented history movie than a scientific examination into the world of NASA, the Kennedy Space Center, and the mission of Apollo 13.
