I apologize for not getting back with you sooner, I had a family emergency to contend with. I as not aware that I may have been able to take a class this semester for I have not gotten my transcripts to your office. I do have on hand a copy of my transcripts from the Office of the Registrar from Armstrong Atlantic State University Savannah, Georgia but have not requested my transcript from Central Texas College. I would like to talk with someone to see how prior classes might transfer to your institution, I am retired military but do not have any educational entitlements remaining. I just recently came to the Huntsville area from overseas and the tution costs may prove prohibitive.
My name is Rachael Crosby I am in EDSEC 376 on Monday/Wednesday at 1:30. However, due to late enrollment in my classes I was unable to get into the same class at 12:30 Monday/Wednesday. The reason I was unable to enroll until after finals was because I was waiting for conformation of being able to be in the college of Education. Therefore, I was inquiring weather it would be possbale for me to take the 12:30 class instead of the 1:30. If not I completly
A landmark event for Aboriginal People’s struggle for rights is February 13, 2008, when in Federal Parliament the then-Prime Minister Kevin Rudd stood up to apologise to the Aboriginal People, for Australia’s past mistreatment on laws, policies and practices that effected the people of the stolen generation (Welch, 2008 and National Sorry Day Committee, 2014). Aboriginal People have struggled for rights since the British came to Australia but it was especially highlighted when the Aborigines Act 1905 came out. There were multiple things that lead to this landmark event, though the Bringing them Home Report in 1997 was a huge step in helping the apology to come about (National Sorry Day Committee, 2014). This essay will discuss in more depth what led to this event, what the goals of the apology were, what the outcomes were and the ongoing impact has resulted.

Arguably the greatest contribution to the eventual downfall of the Roman Republic was the institution of Gaius Marius' popular, yet dangerous reforms, and his repeated usage of questionable political tactics to achieve his underlying personal goals. By undermining the power of the senate through illegal political conduct, and by introducing reforms that created the open potential for abuse of military power, Marius paved the way for future military monarchies, civil conflict and the eventual downfall and segregation of the Roman Republic.
Kevin Rudd’s apology was to the Aboriginals; but in particular, to the Stolen Generations. From 1909-1969, the Australian Government forced a policy know as assimilation upon the Aboriginals. Assimilation is the forced integration of minority groups onto the dominant society. Inhumane acts were inflicted upon these proud people because of the ‘Aborigines Protection Board’ which entailed that the Australian Government had full rights to forcibly remove half-caste children from Aboriginal care without parental consent nor a court order.
At Harvard School of Public Health, Lucian L. Leape discovered, that many patients appreciated several aspects of the post adverse event apology. The discovery also sheds light on the fact that most patients accepted the apology and did not consider suing. Patients have appreciated the apology that was given; which also was made known that," an apology gave the patient a sense of satisfaction and closure, which led to faster settlements and less demand for damages"(Hodge & Saitta, 2012). In addition, when a physician took on that responsibility it also displayed that they took ownership and created a sense of ease between the patient and care provider. When apologies are perceived as having feelings from a physician to a patient the patient
In A Sorry State, the Canadian government’s attempt to make several apologies is thoughtful; however, simply uttering the words, “I’m sorry” cannot undue the trauma of the past. The apology is more for the people giving them, rather than for the actual victim. As Stephan Harper apologized for Canada’s colonial past, he said: “it is the core of Canadian soul” (Miyagawa 2012). This simply portrays that the government is apologizing because it is “Canadian” of them to do so. This is a limitation of an apology as it creates an “overly-celebratory image” of the government (Farley 2017).
I would like to offer you my most sincere apology for my rude and offensive behavior during your service at the Eunice Country Club. I understand that you were just doing your job, and I have let my frustration overcome my actions. I have taken full responsibility for the offensive things I have said or done. I can assure you that there will not be a repeat of misconduct at any time during my employment, or during any encounter with a member of the Eunice Police Department. I realize that my behavior has not only negatively affected you, but also the Eunice Country Club's business. Because of this, I will focus more on doing my job in a correct and courteous manner. I hope you accept my apology and forgive my disrespect
Even though an apology on its own may not sufficiently imply liability in negligence, if it is not carefully worded it could possibly strengthen the claim against the medical professional. Having said that, it is important to note that implementation of the Apologies Act marks a fundamental step by the Government towards encouraging a culture of openness and transparency within the NHS as does the recent proposal to implement the statutory duty of candour.
The theme of the movie Osmosis Jones follows the monomyth stages. The monomyth by Joseph Campbell is when a hero goes on a dangerous adventure, and in a crisis wins a victory, and returns home with knowledge, treasure, or love. It is when a hero starts out in their normal daily lives to a dangerous adventure that will change them either physically or mentally. Jones was a regular white blood cell cop that made lots of mistakes, but he wanted to change his reputation by curing Franks’ illness. The hero when in a crisis like Jones wins the victory by either strength, bravery, or courage. The hero then returns with knowledge of two worlds. All heroes follow the monomyth stages and have themes that ordinary
In this paper I will be discussing the four charges brought against Socrates in Plato’s essay The Apology# and why exactly each of these charges is completely fictitious. The four charges brought against Socrates were that he argued the physical over the metaphysical, he argued the weaker claim over the stronger claim, he went against the gods, and he was corrupting the youth (Singer, lecture, 9-15-11). Each of these four charges is false for varying reasons and I will be addressing each explanation on why each charge is a complete sham, after discussing each charge.
Socrates is at the age of seventy and appearing in a law court for the first time. For the people of Socrates time is accusing Socrates, for miss leading the youth corrupting them and boasting about being wise, causing him to become very unpopular. Socrates says to the jury I am going to speak the whole truth, for it is me by myself that I have to defend. He says my accusers are many and I don’t know them, they say, “you should be careful not be deceived by an accomplished speaker like me” (Cohen, Curd, & Reeve, 2000). The accuser goes on to say that Socrates is accomplished speaker; Socrates starts to praise them, because their lies are so good well put together, that Socrates himself is almost convinced but then he says that they do not
When Socrates first began by acknowledging that he is not an accomplished speaker and does not know it all. Instead he began to explain that he felt that it was his duty that he questioned the wise men and expose them as fakes. While the youth may look up to him because he was not afraid to speak his mind, those who were older looked at him with resentment. It is because of this resentment that so many came out to accuse him and stand against him in a trial.
In the year 399 B.C., Socrates was put to trial for impiety and corrupting the youth. During the trial, Socrates had to deliver his defense speech, called an apology, which derives from the Greek word apologia which means to ‘speak in one’s defense’. There are two accounts of Socrates’ apology; Plato’s and Xenophon’s. The main difference between the two accounts is that Plato was present during the trail and paraphrased what was said. Xenophon, on the other hand, was not present but instead based his on Hermogenes’ reports before, during, and after the trail. Although both show Socrates to be incredibly pious, just, and accepting of death, they have many differences.
Aristophanes’ Clouds, if read hastily, can be interpreted as a mindless satyr play written in 419 BCE. Yet the chorus warns the reader not to expect the play to have farcical ploys like “a hanging phallus stitched on” the actors to evoke a laugh, but has underlying seriousness as “she [the play] comes in trusting only her words” (Clouds 538-44). Even if the play does use some low devices, the play’s message is sophisticated and can be read as a warning to Socrates. Aristophanes is a “friendly critic” of Socrates and warns Socrates to change his ways for Athens and for the good of himself (Whidden). Plato’s Symposium and especially his Apology of Socrates justify the claims made in Clouds about the dangers of philosophy and Socrates to
