Are Trophies Always Good? Last year I played, football for the Red Bluff Spartans the team and I made it to the semifinals but the team we went against was pretty good. When the game ended the team and I ended up losing, the team we were against was too good. Yes the team and I were pretty upset because we practiced alot, and we went pretty far. After the game some of the people in the bleachers complemented The team, and I.They said ‘’good job you did good’’ the coaches also said ‘’good job you guys did great even though we didn't win good effort.’’ The team and I were still pretty upset, but we know we tried and we put up a good battle .The team and I still got a trophy, for participation at the end of the season. I believe, that
While I felt as if we would lose, I still wanted to try my hardest to change that outcome. I played my hardest at Shortstop and was able to get two of the three outs by a double play. Sadly that play had come at the expense of a run from their team. The last batter from their team was struck out and we headed back to get ready and bat. The crowd kept supporting us through the bad calls from the umpire and the strikeouts even to this point. The team was motivated and ready to take this game and head to finals with my morale boosted I got ready to cheer my team on

All the emotions started sinking in as we started to cry with joy. After all the crying, we went to say “good game” for sportsmanship and returned to the mound to complete a bet. We bet Coach Cadena that if we went undefeated for the whole season, the team got to dogpile on him. And we did. All of us returned to the dugout with all of our families and the baseball team congratulating us. Seeing my fathers’ face with a huge smile made me feel so great he got to see me play with four single hits and no outs. I made a contribution to the game that I was awarded second region team. During the end of the awards ceremony, when we hold the championship plaque, all of us had the biggest smiles on our faces and returned home with
Have you ever felt like you’re not good enough, not knowing just how much potential you have? One of the most salient experiences of my life was making the Island Coast High School football team, because it taught me that to succeed you must be confident in yourself. The old me would have thought, “ I’m not good enough,” because I never thought that I could compete with kids that already played football. I suppose that I always felt like i couldn’t compete with football players because whenever I would play football in eighth grade, I would not be able to keep up with them. Little did I know, all of that was about to change the day I made my way to the middle of the humid, scorching fied, staring into the eyes of North Ft. Myers Highs’ freshman football team.
The rest of the team has seen me on my really bad days and days where I feel amazing. We all go through ups and downs. All of us 18 girls on the team had to get through preseason, and although it was only two weeks as opposed to the usual three, it was one of the most physically demanding times of my life. Despite this, it is rewarding to accomplish something after months of summer workout packets and preparation, and we all got to do it as a team. Even serious preparation and practice does not allow us to win certain games. Losing 4-0 to Dock took a toll on us, and for a couple of days it was easier to point fingers to others as to why we did not win. In spite of this upset, I used it to drive me during the next game. Not everything that happens during the season is going to lay out the way we would like it to, but I would not trade this sense of kinship for
Everyone was so happy that we won the championship because my team has not won in 10 years it seems like forever. The crowd was cheering so much for us. I was so happy that I have tried my best all the time and that it is ok to make mistakes. We make them all of the time even if we do not notice
I really didn’t do to well hitting but the rest of my team did and that’s what meant a lot to me and watching my teammates making plays and working as hard as the possible can play in that field made me supper happy. It came down the last inning and we kind of just fell apart in the field but we still have to fight and play hard and just because we are losing doesn’t mean we stop playing. The game finally came to the end and the seniors started getting emotional and then everyone on the team started to get a little emotional it was a very hard loss for the whole team and the coaches. After knowing that we had a great season the team got together for one big last eagles on three for the
My freshman year we entered playoffs with a hopeful optimism that in our first year in 3A, the largest division, we could make a statement that we were here to stay. In the end, the game didn’t go our way. There were some questionable calls made but in the end, it is what it is: we weren’t good enough to win. A tough reality but often times you learn more from a loss than from a win. Sophomore
This is why I previously mentioned college sports are a humbling experience: because no matter what how good you think you are your college team is filled with great talent and most might be better than you and just not care and will be sitting on the bench and you will be playing so you don’t want to be one of those good people that just don’t care.
Sports for young kids are very fun and active so you all can get a trophy and be active but It is one of the worst thing you could do. Some people think you should get a participation trophy and other people think you should not get a participation trophy for losing. I think you should not get a participation for losing because one thing it will cost a lot of money to buy all the trophy and you should try to win and get first or second so you can get a trophy like a champion ship or get a runner up trophy.
Think about giving a child everything they wanted no matter how much it cost. Now think about giving a child a trophy for showing up at a game or practice and doing nothing to help the team win. Horrible, right? Yes, because children should not receive a trophy for being a benchwarmer it is just not right it is like your giving them a hundred dollar bill just for the heck of it. Getting a trophy after losing a game or being a benchwarmer is the most outrageous thing that could ever happen.
Should a child get a trophy to make him happy or because he earned the trophy? People are debating whether a child should get a trophy for effort or talent. People are saying that kids should only get a trophy if they earned it. Children should not get a trophy just because they showed up to their game. They need to be the best to get the trophy.
Failure may feel like the end of the world, but learning from it can be a slingshot to success. Having such a poor record my junior year, resulted in players feeling unable to win. Not achieving a goal can deflate a person, and deflated is certainly how we felt at the end of the season. Shortly after the season came to a close, our coach was fired from his position, which lead to more discomfort in our minds. We had no direction and felt belittled even further.
It only took us twenty minutes to be up 2-0 against a team, our main rivals Clements, we had not beaten them for twenty years and who were also former state champions. It was the best feeling ever, seeing the confusion in their faces from being down to us. All the work we had put in that year was finally translated into the field, where it truly matters. Toe to toe with a team they said we had no chance against, I beg to differ. All was going well, until early in the second half they had scored a goal. I could sense the timorous feeling beginning to rise within my teammates, but I never doubted them and knew we still had a
As the season went on, I had worked on my skills and had begun to have personal success in games. As soon as I know it, I ended up being brought up to varsity to add depth since many of our starters had gotten hurt. Even though I did not get much playing time on varsity, I was still very glad to make the team. I knew that hard work really does pay off.
