The Abortion Debate
This is a difficult question because the topic of abortion has a lot of people involved for different reasons. E.g. doctors dealing with the medical issues, MP’s is dealing with the legal issues etc. People have different views on this subject and so it depends who you are asking. People who have had an abortion think that it was the best thing to do because of their individual situations and experiences and would disagree. However others would agree, because of their religious beliefs or opinions on when life begins.
Catholics would agree with the statement abortion is never justified. They believe that life begins at conception and by having an abortion you are killing another human being that has equal rights to

Or in the worst case, the mother was raped – this is a very difficult pregnancy because some women cannot bring themselves to love a child who is a part of the man who raped her and caused serious emotional damage. And so, they believe that if the mother has a good enough reason like those, to want an abortion, then it should be allowed. Their reasoning behind their beliefs is that in the early stages of development in the womb, the unborn child is not consciously aware of what is going on and doesn’t know that it is being murdered, or even that is was ever alive.
As a Christian, I believe that the principles and ethics of an abortion are very wrong. However, I can see the other point of view that it is very hard to say, ‘I am against abortion no matter what’ but you have to look at each case individually. If I were put in the situation that I became pregnant after being raped, then it would be very difficult for me to have that child knowing the circumstances and being reminded of that every time I looked at my child, so yes, I would be tempted by abortion, because I do believe that when you have a child it should be with somebody you love. Although I do think it is wrong to have an abortion in cases where people just don’t have time to raise a child and say that they can’t cope because of work etc, because it is a new life you are talking about. It’s a special thing, and you shouldn’t
I don't think abortion is ever okay. I know some say 'well if she was raped' yes, that's a tragedy, something horrible happened to you but you should still have that baby and if necessary, find a good home for it. Then some say 'what if you have a chance
As a catholic-born child, I was brought up with very strict rules laid out before me that would help me with choices such as the holy sacrament of confirmation and marriage to the very controversial choice of abortion. Since I’ve been Catholic all of my life, I am a firm believer in the pro-life choice, which is advocating full legal protection of embryos and fetuses along with high opposition to the legalization of induced abortions. A baby is a baby is a baby. Whether it is an embryo, fetus, or almost a full term baby, it is still considered life. That is how I like to view this topic. This semester I plan to research why abortion is morally wrong
Christians don’t believe that abortion should have happen they say that abortion should not happen because God says that it shouldn’t happen. “For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13). Christians see that life is sacred to God.
How would you feel if someone took away your ability to live? Imagine not having any say in whether or not you want to have a life. Well babies don't have a choice in their mother’s womb. If a woman decides to abort her baby, they can't do anything about their life being taken away from them. Their whole future is demolished. I believe abortion is wrong when committing it for a selfish reason.
In conclusion, abortion is morally wrong. A life is sacred, both the mother’s and the infant’s. It is best to prevent pregnancy and eliminate a difficult life choice that takes the right away from one of those people. A quote by Ronald Reagan says, “I’ve noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been
I personally think that each situation is different, and if a woman gets pregnant and she comes from a strict and religious family she might be pressured by her family to get an abortion. If a woman is raped and she finds out she is pregnant it would be very difficult for her to go through with having the baby. The main problem is there are no specific laws that are in place that are agreed upon so that everywhere in America there is at least a mutual understanding. My beliefs are that it should be a woman’s right to do what she chooses to do with her body, however I think this should only bet the case until after the second month of her pregnancy, because it is within that time period that a fetus is insider her and it develops feelings and there have been documented cases of fetuses being able to survive outside the womb as early as 21 weeks. (Thompson, Ph.D., 2003). It is after the second month of pregnancy that I feel a fetus deserves human rights and should not be aborted because then it can be considered murder since it has developed its heartbeat and begins to develop senses and physical features
If a woman agrees to engage in sexual activity and doesn’t properly use contraception, then she would know that pregnancy can occur. Being pregnant means a woman has a new life growing inside of her and I believe that the woman has an ethical obligation to that life. Woman should not be able to deny a child the right to life just because they made a mistake that they want to cover up. Using abortion as a means of birth control is not healthy psychologically or physically and is not a responsible approach to deal with the repercussions of sex. Women who have abortions are at higher risk for depression, anxiety, and other emotional disturbance, they are also at higher risk for pelvic inflammatory disease, and HIV/AIDS. Abortion can also affect a woman’s fertility and make it difficult/ impossible for her to have children later on if she
Having abortion is morally and ethically wrong, also women shouldn’t be able to have it. Not only it affects the women but it affects the child because women say that they can’t look at the baby the same way. People with religious beliefs say that “ abortion is a mere personal choice but the grave offense against God and his creations”. That’s why so many people go to abortions to go take “care” the baby. Women that carry a baby that a stranger has raped or done anything, most women don’t want to suffer to see the baby eyes because, it makes the them sorry of what she is going to do. So they go to abortions were they technically “ Kill” the baby when it’s not fully born.
Abortion is tremendously unethical, just like murder is highly immoral. Many religions oppose the idea of abortion; Christianity considers abortion to be a sin under all circumstances; Hinduism considers abortion to be a form of violence. In addition, when the woman decides to have a sexual intercourse with a man without any proper use of contraception, she knows that pregnancy will result. If the mother did not want the baby in the first place or if she could not take on the responsibility of the baby, then she should not get pregnant just to later on kill the unborn innocent child in her womb. Abortion can not only harm the baby, but can also cause physical and psychological damage
There is not really a clear verdict when it comes to abortion being right or wrong. Looking at abortion as being a dynamic subject depending on the situation; is a better approach. In the case of it being a rape, I feel the woman has full rights over her own body. She may not want to experience the agonizing, even traumatizing ordeal that is giving birth. I understand that some consider it to be murder.
Is abortion right? Every abortion kills an innocent human being. Life starts at conception, all unborn babies feel the pain the doctors who abort them are causing. Sutcliffe, Paula who worked in a clinic that does abortions stated that
Of course, with certain viewpoints, there are opposing viewpoints. Some women do have reasons as to why an abortion was the best choice for them. In some cases, there are couples that simply cannot afford to have their first child, or another child in that moment. An abortion would be the most desirable decision for her in the case that she does not want to have to deal with financial damage trying to support not only herself, but also a baby. In another case, sometimes the women is still being taken care of by her parents, so the fact that the parents have to take care of their child, as well as their grandchild makes things complicated, making an abortion a better idea. There are some parents who are disappointed in their children if they have a baby at a younger age, therefore the young woman believes that if they have an abortion, their parents would never find out that they were ever pregnant, and they can live a normal life. In most cases, teenage girls get abortions because they want to continue living their life, they believe that they “are not ready to be a
Women should have the right to make decisions regarding their own reproduction system. There are many motives in why a women get abortions some include: rape, teen pregnancy, or health reasons. Regardless on what their cause may be, abortion should not be despised. Women should have the freedom to do what their mind and heart tells them to do.
Women choose to have an abortion because the child might be inconvenient, too expensive, or too difficult. It’s a lot of pressure to having a baby, but if you don’t think you can handle one, use a condom or do not have sex at all. Women do not think about terminating their child because of their health problems or rape. They think about the wrong things when they find out that they are pregnant. For instance, I cannot have a baby this young or I’m not ready for a baby, because I don’t have a job. I know it’s not easy, but it should be no reason you should kill one of god’s children. Most women think that aborting their child is the best decision for them. I would understand if you were raped, but if that did not happen to you then you should not be able to lose your child. They should make a law saying having an abortion is illegal unless you were raped. Other reason should not be a good reason. If you are brave enough to have sex with someone without a condom or have sex period, then you should not have no reason to abort your baby if you have one.
My view on abortion pertains to the individual situation. For example, rape is considered mentally traumatizing to a victim. A woman is raped. Rape is an act of violence. Therefore, the woman is mentally traumatized by an act of violence. How is it ok to make her go through a pregnancy resulting from a violent act? Some women can handle it, but the number is small.
