We all know about what a weapon is, the manner by which it appeared, and the motivation behind its creation. It is trusted that the first firearm was made in China in the twelfth century and from that point they spread on to whatever remains of the world. Firearms have a lot of employments, however the primary reason for their creation was for self-preservation, so as to shield the group from assaults by interlopers. Other than that, firearms are additionally utilized for games, exchange, for verifiable purposes of concentrate, likewise in target hone, furthermore in chasing for nourishment. So it is clear that weapons are a vital piece of society. Even though people want more strict gun laws, we should be able to protect ourselves because people buying guns illegally and using it for crime and not for good use. Wikipedia lets us know that weapon control is the laws that manage the …show more content…
26 attack in which reporter Alison Parker, 24, and Adam Ward, 27, were murdered. A third individual, a nearby council of business authority, was injured. Flanagan later utilized one of the weapons to murder himself. A reporter said his expanded background check proposal, supported by a petition containing 28,000 signatures, is aimed at the unchecked market of private firearm transactions, mostly over the Internet and at gun shows, that account for about 40% of firearm sales. Do you think that if our country had certain gun control laws that this would have never happened? A big shooting in Oregon at South Umpqua Community College has began a debate over gun control and the Second Amendment. According to CNBC.com, in 2015 there was 295 mass shootings across the U.S. These tragic incidents have taken more than 375 lives and leaving thousands more injured. This is why there are many groups pushing for more gun control laws and also lobby the federal government. Maybe we should have increased gun
‘“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”’ (“Gun Control”) Due to firearms, more than 30,000 people die in America every year. Mass shootings happen frequently and people die because of the lack of laws and their security. The United States needs better gun control laws because automatic assault rifles are easy to buy, the mentally ill can purchase guns, and many die from guns each year.
Death, violence, individual rights, crime, and cost are many words that arise when researching the controversial topic of gun control. This issue revolves around the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution and states: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Is there a black and white answer or is there a need to find a middle ground? The foundational right must be preserved for an individual to own a gun. However, basic safety measures need to be in place for added protection and security of all Americans. To explore why this balance is the best option, it is necessary to look further into the
America has the highest amount of gun related deaths each year in the world. “In Germany 381, in France 255, in Canada 165 in the United Kingdom 68, in Australia 65, in Japan 39 and in the United States, 11,127” (Moore Michael, 51:15-51:48). Since the United States has the highest number of deaths, it is important to have gun-control laws that restrict people from owning dangerous firearms like machine guns. Gun-control laws should support both sides of the debate. Of course, both sides will not be completely happy with the laws created, but America should have a balance. In 2008, a poll was taken stating: “Adult poll respondents’ views on the meaning of the Second Amendment; An individual’s right to bear arms: Republican 51% and Democrats 41%” (The History of the Right to Bear Arms). Today, the United States is more divided on gun-control than it has ever been. The Second Amendment states: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”(Milestones in Federal Gun Control Legislation). Unless the Second Amendment is changed, we cannot take the right from others to own guns. However, the government should regulate the types of gun Americans can own and who can own a gun because times have changed and American’s mental health system is broken.
“Some favor increased regulation of firearm transfers and sales, believing that measures such as universal background checks help protect the public by preventing dangerous individuals from owning firearms” (DiLascio). Despite the beliefs of ineffectiveness that reforms will prevent firearms from falling into the wrong hands, those that approve of further regulations have good intentions of the people and their safety, but are also narrow minded and are not thinking of the bigger picture. Stacey Newman is a soft-spoken leader of the Progressive caucus in the Missouri House of Representatives. Newman has recently passed a bill that states, “gun buyers would also be required to tour an emergency room between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on weekends, when firearm victims are present, and meet with at least two families affected by gun violence as well as two individuals who have officiated at the funerals of minors who were shot dead” (Johnson). While those that believe adding more laws would benefit the people, it is really not. Adding more regulations will only prevent law abiding citizens from being able to buy firearms to defend themselves. On the opposing side, “Some favor increased regulation of firearm transfers and sales, believing that measure such as universal background checks help protect the public by preventing dangerous individuals from owning firearms” (DiLascio). They also fail to realize that criminals are criminals and they will find a way to get what they want, regardless of any rules or laws that are passed. “The decision went on to list laws that would be permissible, such as imposing conditions on commercial sale of firearms and prohibiting guns in sensitive places like schools” (Johnson). Some laws also prohibits anyone to sell any type of firearm to individuals under 18, the mentally ill/disabled, and anyone with a criminal record
"The world is filled with violence. Because criminals carry guns, we decent law-abiding citizens should also have guns. Otherwise, they will win and the decent people will lose."-James Earl Jones. I chose this quote because if you don’t let good citizens protect themselves then criminals will take advantage of that. There is no real way to get rid of guns and there will always be guns. Just to clarify something a lot of people don’t know is that all automatic rifles are already illegal in our country. You can only buy semi-automatic rifles. The only way people can make semi-automatic rifles automatic is by illegally converting them using a device called a bump stock. President Trump is already pursuing a ban on all sales of bump stocks. Gun Control does not work because no evidence proves it deters crime rates at all, it just takes away guns from good citizens
Ever since Columbine, the people of the United States have been urging to get stricter gun laws. At this point in time, even with all the occurrences, no laws have changed. There has been an alarming number of mass shootings. Virginia Tech 2007; 32 killed, Sandy Hook Elementary
getting a gun. A gun can be given to anyone from anywhere as long as
Since 1791, the United States has allowed citizens the right to bear arms; citizens have depended on the ability to carry and use firearms. What if that just, went away? Every citizen would give up their firearm and there would be nothing for civilians to use to protect themselves with, at least, not something that they are used to carrying or having in their homes. The government should not restrain the ownership, the use, or me the concealed carry of firearms for the reason that owning guns has shown to lower crime rates; keeping guns prevents the Second Amendment from being violated; and banning guns does not prevent criminals from disobeying the law.
Should congress pass gun control laws? Gun control laws is an important issue that everyone should be talking about in and since nobody wants to talk about it, I will. There has been so many mass shootings in America and it’s becoming a serious problem. Guns are not the problem, it’s crazy Americans. Gun control is an issue that our hated President should be talking about.
The first of these new proposals is the requirement of universal background checks for anyone who wants to purchase a firearm. This will hopefully close some loopholes in the National Instant Criminal Background Check System and prevent criminals and people with a history of mental illness from obtaining firearms (Remarks). As the background check system stands now, people who buy guns from gun shows and other unlicensed sellers do not have to complete a background check (Stopping). For the Columbine massacre on April 20th, 1999, the killers purchased their guns at a gun show from an unlicensed seller, so no background check was performed. On April 16th, 2007 was the shooting at Virginia Tech and this shooter obtained a gun from a licensed gun dealer which he should have been prohibited from buying. He was able to purchase this weapon because his records were never reported to the FBI’s gun background check system. Again in Tucson on January 8th, 2001, a killer acted with guns he should have been prohibited from buying because his records also were not in the database. These considerable loopholes in our current
With the recent events that occurred during the music festival Las Vegas, where Stephen Paddock shot into crowds of civilians killing 58 people and injuring 530 others (“Las Vegas Shooting”). This is a very tragic thing to happen, but as always, this incident will bring up an uproar about gun control and how guns should be more heavily regulated. At this current moment it has not been released what type of firearms were used but some are saying it may have been a fully automatic rifle (T. Jackman).
Gun is a very danger weapon. You only can saw the gun be used in war before but now you can find it in a moderately family. Guns become very cheap and easily to buy. In part of the country, civilian have guns are legal. I think Guns should be control because more gun control laws would reduce gun deaths, guns are rarely used in self-defense and legally owned guns are frequently stolen and used by criminals.
Kids see guns and try to play with them. They think their adult toys. Every kid thinks it's cool to play with guns. Gun violence costs billions of dollars. If you do not use your gun, your gun is unnecessary.
According to the author, the public does not think that tougher gun control will work even though the public supports stricter gun laws. The people who want additional gun laws are the same people who do not pay attention to the facts of lawful and responsible gun owners. The President of the United States however believes and wants gun control to work. Unfortunately, creating new laws on buying a gun will not have much of an effect on the guns that are illegally used or bought as “there are some 200 million guns in private ownership” (Barnet126). Only about 2 percent of legally owned guns have been linked to crimes. Most of the guns in the hands of criminals are bought off the black market meaning in the streets, guns that have been stolen, or private purchases which are all unaffected by any new laws created. To put it in a different perspective, in 1992 police had made many arrests for having an illegal gun. This number
Did you know that 270 million guns are owned in the United States ? In our society, there will alway be danger if we don't do nothing about gun control laws . There is evidence that more guns equal more crimes .
