World War II was one of the bloodiest times in history where the innovation of militaristic technology flourished among the strongest of nations. Nations like the U.S. rivaled Germany with their new and improved tanks, Germany would rival the allied forces with their invention of the machine gun and the terrorising U-boats used to sink allied ships. However, none of the those newly created weapons would compare to the one weapon capable of destroying a a entire army, that weapon was called the nuclear bomb. When I think of a nuclear bomb, the first thing that comes to mind would be the mushroom clouds shown in cartoons. The realest and most modern nuclear bomb I’ve seen would have probably been the one in the Godzilla movie, when Japan decided to nuke the giant lizard. Besides from those childish encounters, I have never seen a nuclear bomb during action. The U.S. was the first nation to use nuclear weapons in real life and the end results aren’t as epic as the ones seen on tv. This topic isn’t something to enjoy because their were nuclear bombs, this topic s be respected and honored. Before I began my research, the one thing I knew for a fact was that the U.S. has bombed Japan during a war. Besides from that, I had no prior knowledge about the event. One of the factors that incentivated me to research this topic, is the current hypocritical stance the U.S. takes when it comes to nuclear weapons. We can see on the news how the U.S. fights countries for their development of
The bomb itself was already controversial, they knew the destructive force of it, so President Truman tried finding different ways of ending the war without using the bomb; they had options, and the use of the atomic bomb was the last of all of them. The United States had four different options they could take instead of the bomb. (www.nps.gov) Option one included the conventional Bombing of the Japanese Home Islands, option two: invade Japan, option three: demonstrate the bomb on an unpopulated island option four: drop the bomb on an inhabited Japanese City. However, even if the president did have these options, they were not used for a reason. For option one, the United States actually had been doing the conventional bombing,
As World War II was coming to an end during 1945, the creation of one of the most destructive weapons known to humanity occurred within the United States. This weapon, known as “the atomic bomb,” was used on the two Japanese cities: Hiroshima and Nagasaki, resulting in a death toll unprecedented by any military weapon used before and an immediate, unconditional surrender. Some historians believe President Truman decided to drop the atomic bomb in order to intimidate the Soviet Union whereas others believe it was a strictly military measure designed to force Japan’s unconditional surrender. In the Report of a Scientific Panel of nuclear physicists, some scientific colleagues believed the atomic bomb was a “purely technical
During World War II, President Harry S. Truman ordered for an atomic bomb to be dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6th ,1945. The second and last atomic bomb to ever be dropped was in the city of Nagasaki on August 9th, 1945. Many Americans believed dropping the atomic bomb was necessary to end the war in a more timely manner, however, many others believed dropping the atomic bomb was too extreme of a measure to take against Japan. With the creation of the atomic bomb, the United States had a weapon of mass destruction that no one else yet had. Therefore, with the power the atomic bomb possessed, some people believed its use should only be used as a last resort. If Japan would not surrender during this war, then the United States would have a valid and necessary reason in using the power of an atomic bomb. For the other Americans that believed in the immediate drop of the atomic bomb, dropping it would end the war sooner, which would then decrease the amount American soldiers who would be killed during the war. Whether dropping the atomic bomb on Japan was the most ethical decision that President Truman could have ordered is still debated.
At the end of World War II, Winston Churchill said, “Never in the field of human
“Truman stated that his decision to drop the bomb was purely military. Truman believed that the bombs saved Japanese lives as well. Prolonging the war was not an option for the President,” (ushistory.org 1). President Truman and the United States government made a fair decision by dropping the atomic bomb on the Japanese citizens in Hiroshima and Nagasaki during 1945. The bomb allowed the United States to appear more powerful and led to them influencing the rest of the world. The dropping of the atomic bomb was also a just response to the previous atrocities committed by Japan to other countries including the United States. In the long run, the bomb saved more lives that would have been lost in the war, since the bombs caused the
Many Japanese and American soldiers died during a period in WW2 from 1939-145. It all started when the Japanese attacked American soldiers on the piers of Pearl Harbor. Not only did this wipe out many of the American troops, but it also was a turning point in the war. This led America into World War 2. The Americans won the battle of Midway, which was the largest and most crucial naval battle.
On August 6, 1945, 80,000 people died within seconds. On August 9, 1945, another 40,000 people died within the blink of an eye. It is said that after the sudden flash of light that was brighter than the sun, their shadows were literally burned into the sidewalks, buildings and streets they were roaming. Tens of thousands of the remaining survivors would later parish due to radiation exposure. What might've caused so many deaths, you may ask? Two life threatening weapons composed of half a dime's weight of nuclear fission uranium 235 and plutonium, better known as "Little Boy" and "Fat Man." These were the first atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan by the United States of America.
The Atomic Bomb should be used very strategically and tactically in order to ensure a minimal loss of American life and a quick end to the war. Japan will not surrender until defeat meets them face to face. Japan’s women and children are jumping off of cliffs so that they can not be captured by the Allies. The Japanese soldiers are kamikaze bombing our American soldiers. Russia is preparing for an invasion into Eastern Asia. This madness must come to a halt. The United States needs to drop one Atomic Bomb on an outlying city of the capital, Tokyo. This will wake up the Japanese Emperor, Hirohito, and make for a quick surrender. We, however, cannot utterly destroy Japan with a second Atomic Bomb. We must remember that this is 1945 and communication is slow with the Asians. Their message of surrender will take several days to get to the United States. Therefore, we must save the second Atomic Bomb for an emergency situation only. In conclusion, only one Atomic Bomb should be dropped on an outlying city of Japan: to
Nuclear warfare is a strong and deadly strategy to end conflict. Hopefully as a last resort, it should be used with the anticipation and the idea of peace. Japan attacked and dragged the United States into World War II in December of 1941 and paid the price for it in August of 1945. The Documents at the end of Chapter 23 in Exploring American Histories present two different views and ideas; The Manhattan Project either was a good idea or it was not. Many who questioned the idea of dropping the atomic bombs said it was unnecessary and immoral.
The atomic bombs were justified and properly used because of the japanese’s hardcore dedication to this war. They were willing to stop at nothing to complete their goal of winning the war. The attack on Pearl Harbor caused many Americans To dislike the Japanese people as a whole, this Led Americans to believe that the Japanese people as a whole were dangerous. In addition to the speculations of the American people, speculations about the Japanese military begin to grow. They learned that the Japanese military was a very powerful force, their Army was estimated to have over 5 million men.
Every American president makes decisions with enormous repercussions for the future. Some of these decisions prove successful; others turn out to be blunders. In virtually every case, presidents must act with contradictory advice and limited information. At 8:15 a.m., August 6, 1945, an American B-29 released an atomic bomb over Hiroshima, Japan. Within minutes, Japan’s eighth largest city was destroyed. By the end of the year, 140,000 people had died from the bomb’s effects. After the bombing was completed, the United States announced that Japan faced a rain of ruin from the air, the like of which had never been seen on this earth." Background: In 1939, Albert Einstein, writing on behalf physicist Leo Szilard and other leading physicists,
Fellow citizens of the United States I have come to the conclusion that we will be dropping the bomb on Japan. After long nights of deciding what action must be taken to end World War 2 I’ve come to realize that the lives of our country are in my hand. The Japanese military command has rejected the request for unconditional surrender. So we must take action into our own matters. In order to Prevents American citizens from losing their lives; we shall destroy their docks, their factories, and their communications. Let there be no mistake; we shall completely destroy Japan's power to make war. Plus let me inform you all Germans are working hard to find a way to add atomic energy to the other engines of war with which they hoped to enslave the world. I will not risk the fact that they could bomb us first. It’s crucial for us to drop this bomb in order to make Germany lose all their resources to develop an atomic bomb and use it against us.
I had a fight with my my friend. She said mean things to me and then i said mean things to her in return. I really regret saying these mean things to her because they have only made things worse. My mother’s uncle is married to a Japanese lady. One of their daughters has a disease called “Hiroshima”. Until today japanese are suffering from diseases that did not used to exist before the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.
Through the argument of the Deontologists, it is true since it majorly emphasizes on the aspect of obliging to the rules without the issue of questioning. Therefore it is a normative ethical position which judges the morality of an action by the decisions in adherence to the rule or the rules provided hence binding one to the law or the obligation.
Good Morning America today February 18, 2035 this morning there was a nuclear war created by an Artificial intelligence machine, called the B.I.M it caused the world its doom. All Life has died except for one family and the new world order which makes them fight to the death and only 2 survivors may remain. So, far the people / machines who remain are the B.I.M, the Executioners, and the one remaining family. At this moment the nuclear war has happened all over the USA and all other major nuclear test sites. Now, you are probably wondering how all this happened, well the B.I.M created A.I machines that our CSI’s are currently running tests but so far we know that the A.I machines were smarter than the executioners. The executioners then created
