From the opening chapter of Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre the reader becomes aware of the powerful role that art plays. There is something extraordinary about the pictures Jane admires from other artists, as well as the work she creates herself. Her solitary pastime often operates as an outlet of pain, either past or present, and offers her the opportunity to deal with unpleasant emotions and memories. Jane’s art transcends her isolation by bringing her into contact with others who see it; it functions as a bridge between her desire to be alone and her need for companionship. Despite her struggles with inner conflict and the people in her life, Jane’s art helps her find personal power, marking her true
During my return trip to downtown Tucson I visited my favorite place and the one which I felt held the most power. The Cadence apartment gives anyone who enters it the feel of a five-star hotel. The apartments gave the ambience of upper class with its constant cleaning crew working to keep it in prestige condition and multiple amenities only the nicest and most powerful of places would possess. When entering, you are welcomed to a long all white hallway with multiple fireplaces and flat screen televisions. The all white building gives the impression of a sleek and clean upper class building. After continuing down the hall, you are greeted by a fully equipped gym and a large pool and hot tub. Overall, with grand sweeping hallways, five star amenities, and classy atmosphere, The Cadence possesses much of the attributions that lead a building to be architecturally powerful.
The image I chose for this paper is titled A Rose. The image is a painting painted in oil on a canvas and was painted by Thomas P. Anshutz. The painting was produced in Pennsylvania during 1907. I researched this image on ARTstor by using the term realism and then I narrowed down my search by selecting a filter to return paintings as well as setting the geography filter to North America. The painting belongs to The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s collection and is on display in the American Wing in the gallery of Images of Woman from 1880 to 1910.

R.F Briessendens “ A free-talented tongue: some notes on the poetry of Gwen Harwood” can be found in the “Poetry Criticisms” volume 160 in which the latter provides multiple interpretations , from academics and poets, of the Gwen Harwood’s poem “In the park”. Most notable is the interpretation of the former poem by the esteemed poet and academician Andrew Taylor. In specific terms, Andrew Taylor serves to discuss Gwen’s transition from the life a poet to that of a woman without an identity. Essentially, Taylor’s interpretation of the former poem informs other literary academics, or even layman readers, of the destructive nature of which motherhood can be derived from . Taylors interpretation is significant as it relates to the overall topic of motherhood. Thus, it would be imperative to use Taylors succinct, well developed in depth discussion of Gwen Harwood’s “In the park” for my own literary research essay on Harwood’s treatment of motherhood.

Liz Larner creates art that has a presence and that shows instability. Her art is influenced by poetics. This is shown through the overlap in some sculptures as well as breakage in others. The art that she produces gives a sense of flow and completeness. Using instability as part of her work is something that brings a sense of change to her work as well as almost never using the same techniques. Her relation of her art work to real life shows her beliefs in the balance of reality and illusion.
The two works of art that I have chosen to analyze are 1) Jordan Casteel. Miles and JoJo. 2014. Oil on canvas, 54” x 72” and 2) Aaron Fowler. He Was. 2015. Mixed media, 134” x 165” x 108”. The themes that these works of art represent in regards to the exhibit are love, family, and pain. However, they also fall into other thematic categories. The main theme that seems to apply to both “Miles and JoJo” and “He Was” is Human Experience. Additionally, these arts differ in some ways.
The Resurrection of Christ is from the Baroque period. This work of art portrays the sense of dramatic antagonism that Caravaggio achieved by manipulating light across full range of tones, changing the intensity and transforming its radiance this was done so that every beam and shadow expressed a dissimilar emotional content. (Sayre, 2010) In Rembrandt painting he focused on using emotional contrast between light and dark tones to emphasize the emotional difference. Here you can see pure light radiating out of the tomb of darkness. Christ himself begins to rise from the tomb in the light of true symbolic
