Values and Motives Questionnaire: The Technical Manual (n.d.). Retrieved from the Liberty COUN 521 website: Psytech International.
The Values and Motives Questionnaire, also known as the Values and Motives Inventory, is designed to examine a person’s motivation in relation to his values and activities. In order to ensure a comprehensive understanding of values, the VMQ assess three distinct areas, including: interpersonal, intrinsic, and extrinsic. Interpersonal values, according to the VMQ refer to one’s relationships with others. Intrinsic values contain one’s personal beliefs and attitudes. Finally, extrinsic values are one’s motivating factors at the workplace. Each of these three areas contain twelve topics
Quality improvement data is followed in all health care setting. The use of Cerner EHRs allows data to be obtained from patient charts to analyze core measures. According to the joint commission influenza and pneumococcal vaccinations measures should be addressed in all hospital in-patients (The Joint Commission, 2015). Data can be retrieved on those patient who were diagnosed with pneumonia to determine if they received the vaccinations for pneumonia and influenza. As well as tracking the time frame between diagnosis and treatment, and additionally the patient outcome. This is captured through the documentation of the clinical staff. The information can be analyzed to determine the quality improvement changes that need to be implemented to improve patient outcomes.
The Quality Improvement (QI) concentrates on the four main standards which is that QI functions and operates as methods and procedures, concentrates on patients, puts emphasis on being part of a team/group, centers their attention on the utilization of the data (Quality Improvement, n.d.). Qualitative approaches gather data and information from informative characteristics, instead of numbers that describe statistical conclusions. Health care systems can gather qualitative data within the medical care field by utilizing patient and staff satisfaction surveys, focus-group discussions, and independent observations (Quality Improvement, n.d.). Control charting is one of the steps that are included in CQI. The steps to control charting is finding,
While it is easy to decide that quality needs attention in emergency medicine the first question when reviewing something is of course, how? Tools and methods must be developed when investigating anything in order to collect information. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) describes quality measures as tools that help us measure or quantify healthcare processes, outcomes, patient perceptions, and organizational structure and/or systems associated with the ability to provide high-quality health care and/or that relate to one or more quality goals for health care (CMS, 2015). In order for quality measures to be used, however, how is that data collected? According to CMS
From the article we read about Toyota I loved the quote; “You can't solve problems unless you admit them” (Fishman, 2006). To me this is what quality improvement is all about. I would apply principles of quality improvement in my current practice a few different ways. First, I would look at the big picture. What needs to be changed? How can I take better care of my patients? After answering these questions implementing new techniques would need to occur. Lastly, I would make sure that my team and myself were all on the same page. Every team member needs to know what is going on and the objectives we are trying to meet in the long run. “At Toyota, there is a presumption of imperfection. Perfection is a fine goal, but improvement is much more realistic, much more human” (Fisher, 2006).
Quality assurance should be number one in patient care, on that note if the medication order is illegible Betty must get clarification from the doctor with a double check of looking in the patients’ medical record. All medication orders are to be entered in the patients’ chart if the physician did this Betty can easily verify the orders from the record. But, before administering the medication, the allied health professional must call the doctor’s answering service to locate the doctor and get advice on how to handle this situation. There’s still one more part of the professional medical triangle who dispensed the drugs, the pharmacist, she can check with the pharmacist also.
This paper intends to identify a Quality Indicator (QI) that measures and improves the quality of care in long term care facilities. The quality indicator is: the percentage of long term residents who report moderate to severe pain. I will describe the facility where the QI has been identified, and how aspects of the organization impact the QI. I will also describe how the QI relates to the facilities mission/vision/and values. I will identify a solution to the QI issue, which will help remedy the issue. I will conclude with my personal/professional philosophy and how it applies to the QI issue. My intention of the overall paper is to look at the facts, how data is gathered, and to find a solution to help with the QI at the

Managing quality and safety is vital in order to deliver effective healthcare today. Unfortunately, very little is known about the quality of care due to the fact that there are a variety of definitions used for the term quality (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2014). This paper will discuss quality management in this country’s healthcare system, some approaches used for quality improvement, as well as the perspectives of quality healthcare from healthcare professionals and clients.
The concept of quality improvement in hospitals has evolved over time. Notably, one of the key areas of quality improvement is patient care. In the 18th Century, an almshouse was a facility in United States that provided health care services. The conditions of these facilities were deplorable, overcrowding was common and no respectable person wanted to be treated there (The Joint Commission, 2008). Unfortunately, patients that were treated at an almshouse had very little options available to them. By 1752, Benjamin Franklin had taken steps towards establishing Pennsylvania Hospital. Pennsylvania Hospital was meant to provide poor patients with quality care.

Using quantitative tools to determine the areas of concern and assist to understand where improvements can be made to stop the waste, the proposed research will provide the answers required to assist the company with cost control and help to provide the customer with desired cost savings.
The quality management plan having been drafted at the juncture of the problem the quality metrics must be reconsidered. Quality metrics can be defined as the definition of the features that make up a process and define its quality. In the given case, each process of the manufacture has its own quality metric. For example, cutting, forming, machining, welding, and final assembly which form the entire production process resulting in the absolute quality of the end product-bicycle can be planned with complete metrics-measures of different quality and quantity that individual processes have to adhere to. (p. 242) For example, what would the cutting process be? How much would it involve in terms of labor, and what type of input, process and output would be generated? This measurement would be standard for the cutting process. In this case the machining activity seems to have defects.
2. Statistical process control (SPC) involves inspecting a random sample of the output from a process and deciding whether the process is producing products with characteristics that fall within a predetermined range. SPC answers the question of whether the process is functioning properly or not. 3. Acceptance sampling is the process of randomly inspecting a sample of goods and deciding whether to accept the entire lot based on the results. Acceptance sampling determines whether a batch of goods should be accepted or rejected. The tools in each of these categories provide different types of information for use in analyzing quality. Descriptive statistics are used to describe certain quality characteristics, such as the central tendency and variability of observed data. Although descriptions of certain
