What do you think when you picture a good leader? Do you picture someone who possesses integrity, loyalty, and knowledge or someone who is strong, loud and powerful? Leaders can have many different qualities and still be successful, respected, and admired. There are some leaders who are in total control, they tell a group of people what to do and people follow orders. Others may be focused more on morals, they teach people and listen to other people’s ideas, and they want to help people; Atticus Finch from Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird is a really worthy comparison to this type of leader. Atticus falls under the INFJ personality type, some people refer to
Everybody in this world, has at one point been nice to somebody. Some people show this trait in daily life and there is one character in particular shows this trait and many other. That character is Atticus in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Atticus demonstrates all the pillars but in particular 3 main pillars. Those pillars are kindness, respect, and honesty and all three of those pillars will be explained in detail and how atticus shows all those pillars.
Atticus believes that Bob Ewell has a minute amount of human decency, even though he does not. Atticus thinks that Bob Ewell already released all his anger on Atticus. Hence, Atticus Finch underestimates Bob Ewell’s capabilities to keep a grudge towards Atticus’s family. Atticus is mistaken, and Bob Ewell assaults Jem and Scout, nearly killing them. Therefore, Atticus is “too good” and idealistic, being flawed in that way. Atticus Finch has valiant qualities of a hero, but what nearly topples him in the end is his one and only flaw - his naïveté and idealism, caused by his determination to practice what he preaches, that there is good in every person. The most important aspect of Atticus Finch’s heroism, which defines one of the major themes in To Kill a Mockingbird, is his relentless efforts to mold the minds of the people around him for the betterment of
In conclusion, Atticus finch shows fairness, compassion, and courage. He is never furious with anyone and does not yell or scream out of anger. Overall, Atticus shows Christ-like attributes throughout the story. Everyone in the town of Maycomb in To Kill a Mockingbird knew of Atticus’s character and respected him as he respected them. When he lost the case of Tom Robinson, everyone, black and white, showed him respect as he walked out of the courthouse. Therefore, people should use Atticus Finch as a model character as he shows many Christ-like
“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them,” Walt Disney once said. Having courage is challenging knowing how other people might judge you, but having courage takes courage. Imagine what the world would be like today if Martin Luther King would have just stood by and not have fought for his dream. Atticus Finch has a dream of equality and he is courageous enough to fight for what he believes in. Atticus’ dream has affected not only the people that live within the town of Maycomb, but he has inspired the readers all over the world. In To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, Atticus Finch is the most admirable character because he is courageous.
Three character traits of Atticus are responsible, courageous and righteous. First of all Atticus is seen as a very responsible man in the novel. An example is that Atticus has brought up his children without a wife to support him. He has been responsible, to bring his children what they wanted, to provide them with the necessities they need, listen to them, answer their questions and mainly love them. This shows how responsible he is because he has brought up his kids in a fairly nice manner and let them fulfil their wishes, but with restrictions against wrong-doings. Another example that is connects to responsibility is that as a lawyer he has taken up Tom Robinson’s case even if he knew it would be difficult. He has showed the character trait f being responsible because he has supported his profession and even if it would cause
Atticus Finch shows continuously the empathy towards more than one character throughout the book. Atticus expresses his intelligence and
Atticus 's empathetic qualities are certainly one of his strongest character traits, and of the characters in the novel, his empathetic nature stands above all others. His conscious effort to understand and consider the feelings of others is not only a fine moral attribute, but it is one of the qualities that makes him a fine father and lawyer. His compassion he shows towards the towns African American’s is exhibited all throughout
His first trait that makes him a good person is persistence. Atticus is persistent by when he took tom robinson’s case. He already knew he had a small chance of winning because the town was mostly of whites and slavery didn’t end that long ago so they really didn’t respect them and
Atticus Finch is a very outstanding man, especially for someone in that time and place. In the novel To Kill Mockingbird by Harper Lee, he represents the moral backbone of a county where morality is often tossed aside as if it doesn’t matter. Atticus is one of the few people there who actually think it matters, and isn’t afraid to show it. Unfortunately, very little people actually see the greatness within him, and instead consider him a traitor, rather than a man of revolution and change for the better of Maycomb County. One can grasp this concept through his fairness towards others who are different from him, his understanding of people that most can’t see, and his tremendous courage when most would back down.
We need more good people in this world like Atticus Finch. Not only is he a wonderful father, but overall an amazing person. Atticus stands up for what he believes. Atticus is also true to his morals. Lastly, he is a good role model for the town and his children.
Could Atticus Finch be the best parent in Maycomb many people would think so considering his many life lessons. Atticus Finch is Maycomb's poster parent he has taught his children many valuable lessons that everyone in this world should know. He has visibly teaches his kids numerous important life lessons throughout the whole book, but the three most valuable lessons that his kids learned were: that life is not always fair, that you have to stand up for what you believe in, and finally that its important to do the right thing no matter what it costs you. One of atticus most prevalent lessons throughout the book is that life is not always fair.
Many famous, leading figures, both real and fictional, exhibit many similar character traits. One common characteristic that they share would be integrity. Integrity, as exemplified by a person, is the ability for an individual to take an ethical and/or moral stand against a particular subject. A great historical example of someone with integrity would be Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln, in a speech to Congress, protested against the Mexican-American War due to his belief that the war was based on a lie. The move put Lincoln at risk of being voted out of Congress, however, he still took that stand against the predominantly popular war. A literary example of integrity would be Atticus Finch. Atticus took the case of a black male, Tom Robinson, who was accused of rape in Alabama during the Great Depression. Atticus took the case due to his belief that Robinson was innocent, and when he took the case, he knew that he would receive verbal abuse from others. He also knew that his children, Jem and Scout, would be harassed as well. However, he still took the case because he believed Robinson was innocent, and he wanted to prove it. Finally, a current day example would be Malala Yousafzai. Malala was a teenage girl who lived under the Taliban. She was an outspoken critic of the Taliban’s policy of preventing girls from getting an education. Despite threats of violence, Malala was not deterred and continued to be outspoken about life under the Taliban despite threats of violence. She
