“Strength lies in differences, not similarities.”August from the story Wonder by R.J. Polaco and, Quarta from the story girl born with only two are and two legs by Stuart Baum. Both have a difficult life. They both look different and get bullied. So let's see the similarities August and Quarta. The first reason that their life is hard is that they get bullied. Unfortunately Quarta gets bullied when people call her names, particularly a freak and when she even saved someone she got bullied when the kids said “Kako got saved by a freak” When August gets bullied kids stare at him while he walks down the hallway and gets horrible mean notes in his locker like “get out of our school” and, gets called mean names. The kids even made a game
They live in a stressful situation, but both hold it firm and lived through it. Their stories had taught a new generation a lesson that life was not easy as thought. Sometime it could be difficult to manage like both characters’ lives happened in the story. They were not crazy, but they were strong enough to live through their stress. Life sometime is unpredictable, but learning how to understand of the change could be a tool helping us to challenge our
Two people can be similar in many ways, but they may not know this. Sometimes the two people don't even know each other. Two people wrote two different short stories about two characters that went through different things but were a lot alike. In Richard Connell's short story “The Most Dangerous Game” and Saki’s short story “The Interlopers,” the main characters General Zaroff and Ulrich von Gradwitz are alike in the following ways: both men hunted on their own land, both men hunted humans, and both men died. Out of all the places in the world both men choose to hunt on their own land.
They have the same name, no dad, house ran by their mom, neighborhoods are similar, and both had trouble in school. They both become different things one become successful and wrote a book and the other became a failure and put in jail for his life.
People can look alike, yet be very different. One of the best examples from literature of people who look almost alike, but are very different are Charles Darnay and Sydney Carton from “A Tale of Two Cities” by Charles Dickens. Although Sydney Carton looks nothing but a worthless person than Charles Darnay, as the book progresses, Carton seems to be changing.
Some individuals can be nothing alike, black and white, or hero and villain. But it is unquestionable that everyone has something in common. For example, in S.E. Hinton’s novel The Outsiders , two greasers who go by the name of Johnny and Dally are far from alike. Dally is mean, tough, and likes to fight, Johnny is kind, sensitive, and a pacifist. But, they still share some similarities; Both characters come from abusive and neglectful parents, and place very little value on their lives. Even when presented with these character traits one could still compare and contrast the two greasers with ease.
Although two people may seem like they are completely different, they can have many similarities. Myrtle Wilson and Jay Gatsby from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby are excellent examples of this idea. Both Myrtle and Gatsby have goals of acquiring money and being accepted into the lifestyle of the upper class lifestyle that the Buchanans are living and end up being victims of their actions. However, Gatsby’s goal of being accepted was to be accepted by Daisy while Myrtle’s was purely for money. Although Gatsby and Myrtle appear to be vastly different people, they are actually quite similar.
In the stories Wonder by R.J Palacio, and The Fight by Adam Bagdasarian, Adam from The Fight is similar to Julian in the book Wonder. and Julian are similar in many ways. Both of them have the same actions, their both powerful, and they our the same at school.
As we analyze the journey they take as they personify these heroic traits, it is quite apparent that they are indeed similar. Both heroes encounter a family related struggle, a female aid during their journey, and the achievement of goals that test the strengths of problem-solving and perseverance.
With all of these similarities and differences presented, one can see how alike as well as different these two characters can be. Stated earlier, the differences seem to
Many people think they are alike characters in a book. I compare myself to Laurie Sanders in the book The Wave by Todd Strasser. Laurie and I have many things in common such as, we both have exceptional relationship with our mothers, we follow trends until we notice something we disagree with, also we are willing to fight for what we believe in. Having a strong with her mother is an essential for a teenager girl growing up. Luckily Laurie Sanders and I both have this.
Have you ever watched a movie and thought to yourself, “Wow, she/he reminds me of myself in a way.”, or, “Wow, he is a lot like Phil.”? I do that sometimes, especially with girls like Elizabeth Bennet. Elizabeth Bennet and I are similar because we are brave, strong and have many sisters. Elizabeth Bennet and I are similar because we are both brave and gallant. In the movie Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Elizabeth Bennet stands up for what she wants no matter what even if it means her getting judged as a result.
Two characters that have a lot of similarities would be Antigone and Song-Sam. Both of these characters have similar morals that cause them to make decisions based on what they believe is right, compared to what the law is. These two people may have very different pasts, but they both think about helping people before themselves. I would describe them as brave, heroic, and caring.
Vietnam soldiers and protesters felt empathy for Yossarian because of the way Heller shows Yossarian’s basic humanity. Yossarian’s instincts, honed by millions of years of evolution, scream at him to prioritize self-preservation above all else. His vulnerability becomes evident in his obsessive hatred of the crawlway on the B-52 on which he is the bombardier, to the point that he “learn[s] to detest every mammoth inch of it, for it slung him seconds and seconds away from his parachute...and seconds and seconds more after that away from the escape hatch” (48). This selection of detail conveys the intense anxiety that plagues Yossarian on every mission as he watches his life hang by a thread. The anti-war protesters and Vietnam soldiers who
After undergoing the life of a Mendez Mustang, Josue Alcaide’s desire was to become a Century Centurion instead of a Godinez Grizzly because of one obstacle. Josue despised the life of waking up at six in the morning and traveling on the bus to Mendez Fundamental Intermediate School. In general, Josue is not very fond of school and as stated by Josue, “I like school, but I am too lazy to try.” Josue is not a studious type of student and is more of a carefree, “don’t care”, and “I’m just here to have fun” student. As Josue further contemplated on his education he believes one can receive the same education anywhere and it does not matter where one receives their education. As a result, Josue did not want to travel far distances on the bus and wake up early in the mornings to attend school. Josue desired and longed for attending a school near his home and near his neighborhood so he would not face these obstacles he encountered when attending Mendez Fundamental Intermediate School. Therefore, Josue wanted to attend Century High School instead of Godinez Fundamental High School.
The woman solves these impossible tasks with her wisdom. The both similar because they used wisdom to solve their problems. The differences between the old woman and the emperor is that the old woman is more loving the emperor were the emperor is more wise. They are different because the old woman loves her son so much that she still breaks branches to let the son now were the emperor would not. The old woman and the emperor are both different but similar in the personalities.
