The children these days are being turned into lamb chops, marshmallows, and princesses because we are banning sports that use physical contact, even dodgeball. The schools should keep dodgeball as a game in PE. Dodgeball helps with children's athletic skills, letting them participate, and not playing dodgeball can make children soft. There are mainly three points on why we should keep dodgeball in schools.

Contact sports are a controversial topic for adults and children alike. Contact sports are sports where the player must come in contact with other players. Children around the world participate in contact sports, and for many it can be one of their favorite activities. It has been argued that playing contact sports have been linked to head and body injuries in children. Some parents keep their children away from contact sports to prevent injury, while others do not. Contact sports are even being banned in some schools, for fear of injury. While some parents and students approve of these bans, others do not. It is hard for people to come to an agreement about these things. Jessica Statsky, in her essay, “Children need to Play, Not Compete” attempts to refute the common belief that organized sports are good for children. She sees organized sports not as healthy pass-times for children, but as onerous tasks that children do not truly enjoy. She also notes that not only are organized sports not enjoyable for children, they may cause irreparable harm to the children, both emotionally and physically. In her thesis statement, Statsky states, “When overzealous parents and coaches impose adult standards on children's sports, the result can be activities that are neither satisfying nor beneficial to children” (627). While this statement is strong, her defense of it is weak.

Everyone knows academics are the main point of school, but athletics have begun to take over and draw away from that focus. Many individuals believe school sports are more important than ever; however, cost is excessive and players often think about upcoming games or matches, detracting attention from homework. Therefore, districts should eliminate after-school sports because they cost tremendous amounts of money, cause academic failure, and are a major distraction.

Dodgeball is just the start of the Physical activity war. The Physical Education Directors start with getting rid of Dodgeball then they will slowly make students start to walking in circles for an hour then going back to class! Do you want to abolish dodge ball? Is it really an apt game? Do you want your children to play this eradication activity? Dodge ball is perceived differently by many diverse individuals. Dodge ball has its pros and cons, but what do you think? While some critics covet it, others do not, like myself, who deems that this hazardous game is not a pertinent exercise for juvenile students.

They think the policy is unnecessary because the fights that are happening at the games, they believe they are too small and don't cause any harm to the spectators. However, they might be correct that the policy invades some student privacy rights, but this policy is necessary for keeping the school safe and decreases the crime incidents. The policy also has increased the number of students attending the games, some may think it would decrease the amount since the policy is strict according to them, but statistics prove it has increased the population of the games. Every grade is attending more and more of the school sports team games, which is what every school would want

Youths should not be banned from sports such as Football, Dodgeball, and cheerleading. To begin with dodgeball should should not be banned. One reason children should be allowed to play these sports is because the sport gets you fit and teaches you mental skills. According to Rick Hanetho, “The game allows kids who are not good athletes to participate in a team sport” (171). This proves that this gives kids opportunities to become good athletes. The sport cheerleading should not be banned for children is because Coaches are trained and they know what they are doing. According to Lord, “You can minimize the chance of having an injury is to have a qualified coach” (173-176). This proves if you have a good coach they know what is best

Dodgeball Physical Education is a great subject at school that helps in many different subjects, agility, teamwork, and anaerobic exercises to name a few. But there is a game that includes all of these exercises and more, Dodgeball!! If our school included dodgeball as a regular sport for all grades, Physical Education would be ten times better. Dodge ball is such a fun and healthy game that when asked, over half the kids that were interviewed said that they would enjoy, and want to come to school a lot more if they knew that dodge ball would be a regular subject in Physical Education. The amount of of kids that said that they would enjoy coming to school more was 51%.

For this assignment I decide to call El Paso Library Main Branch because it was the only library that answered my call. My first option was Clardy Fox Library but the phone that Google provide was off line. I called El Paso Library on Saturday, September 5th at 2 p.m. because they closed at 6 p.m. and luckily they answered me. The person that took the phone was a male, I forgot to ask his name or maybe I do not remember his name at all. Going to the point, the first thing that I ask him was if I could ask him a few question for my communication class, fortunately he said yes. He was very polite. To start off we will do dodgeball. According to Neil Williams, a professor of the Physical education of Eastern Connecticut state University, he says that “Dodgeball will allow the stronger kids to pick on and hunt the weaker kids” (171). This will prove that the stronger kids in the game could turn up to start to be bullied. Another sport we should cover is Cheerleading. This is because in Cheerleading the stunt is starting to get more dangerous. For example, in 2008 the number of emergency room visits increased to about 30000 (176). This shows that some sports could be dangerous or worse because of the things the sport involves. Now for our final sports football.

The use of bullying can lead to the children having different types of emotions regarding this concept. When smaller children cannot win in dodgeball, their self esteems instantly goes down. Games for young children should not promote competition as everyone should get to play and nobody should get eliminated. All games should be fair; therefore, dodgeball should be eliminated

Oh great. Another bad day at school. Good thing we have basketball practice, today, to ease my mind. This is how some people think about sports. However, some do not think the same. Therefore, middle schools are deciding on whether to keep sports the same way they have been or scale back some on sports. Principals and superintendents should not scale students back on sports because it helps them prosper in many ways.

As children grow they continue to need physical activity. One of the methods of exercise that is popular with children in the middle childhood age is rough and tumble play or ‘play fighting’ (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2010). Unfortunately, this sort of play is often discouraged by schools because of the possibility that someone may become injured. (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2010). Teachers must find the balance between protecting children from getting hurt and allowing them to run and jump to release the copious amounts of energy that they have to burn (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2010).
