• Festival Area: I am not going to beat a dead horse and talk about all that's no longer part of the BattleFrog festival, but the fact is the current DJ just doesn't kill it like the previous one and for other reasons it’s just not the same amazing fun times it’s used to be. The festival area was setup well, but nothing about the festival portion blew me or anyone I asked away. • The Course: The course started out with a longer than typical (compared to the other BattleFrog courses I have run) distance sprint before coming to the first obstacle, the “Rope Climb”, I have to be honest and admit, I was happy to see the rope climb come nice and early on the course as it made it easier and the ropes didn’t get nearly as muddy or wet as they have at all my other BattleFrog events, but with that said, the ropes where very close together and on my first lap when arriving at the same time as dozens of other racers, I feared either kicking or being kicked in the head by other racers on the ropes to both the left and right of me. The ropes where attached to a suspended chain and this caused the ropes to have more bounce than I typically experience in a rope climb, but the ropes where not that high up so they where not that difficult. Like any highly anticipated boxing match, some in the crowed (including me at times) are booing because we had and have such high expectations and this isn’t the fight we were expecting, but they keep fighting on and enduring to survive another round and I personally view the addition of the above mentioned amazing Platinum Rig as a great start of the latest round and I hope they continue to claw and scratch to survive to the late rounds and come back with a furry only seen in the most epic fights in history, time will
Operation Forces were engaged in an intense fire fight with al Qaeda forces on a mountain top
The rough times, the hungry days , the cold nights they suffered through. According to the background essay, it was winter at camp Valley Forge in Philadelphia during 1777-1778. George Washington led a continental army to train soldiers to fight in the american revolution against Britain. If you had been a soldier in Washington’s army would you have given up and left? I know if I were a soldier at Valley Forge I would quit because of the cold winters, numerous amounts of deaths and illnesses and also the harsh conditions.
The war had begun in the spring of 1861 and somewhat ominously for the Union.
“Many historians consider the Battle of King's Mountain on October 7, 1780 to be the turning point in America's War for Independence.” (hankla)
The importance of the 1864 election cannot be overemphasized. The fact that Lincoln faced a tough re-election and ran against his former Union General George McClellan, the voting statistics were 212 to 21. One of the reasons that Lincoln got elected for his second term was all of the Union victories, including William T. Sherman’s capture of Atlanta in September. This presidential victory for Lincoln, changed the racial future of the United States.
Would you believe that America’s revolution might not have been won without a certain battle? The Battle of Cowpens took place in South Carolina and the patriots fighting in this battle were under the General Daniel Morgan’s command. The British soldiers were under Lieutenant Banastre Tarleton who’s boss was General Cornwallis control. This battle took place after losing two battles in South Carolina the third battle had to be won or else they would loose South Carolina to the British. Morgan decided that the best way to do this was to create a fool proof plan. When Tarlenton and his men were on the attack, Morgan told his army to fight in an unusual way then to leave the front line after shooting a couple of times. When seeing the patriots
The First Battle of Bull Run took place on July 21, 1861 in Virginia. The Union's was slow in positioning themselves, so that gave Confederates time to arrive. General McDowell ordered the Union army to attack. The two inexperienced armies ran into many difficulties. The Union plan was far too complex for the young soldiers to implement and the Confederate army had troubles communicating. However, the superior numbers of the Union began to push the Confederates back. It looked like
The Confederacy persisted through another year of war as societal rules of the South became lax. Scarlett became flirtatious again, as if she was never married to Charles, as if she were not widowed. Rhett called upon her quite often and bought her affection with presents. I believe that Rhett knew to get Scarlett, he would have to sweeten the pot. She would never have taken Rhett without his money and gifts to her. The summer of 1863 came, and the Battle of Gettysburg with it. For the first time in her life, Scarlett felt sorrow for another. Almost every boy she flirted, danced, or batted her eyelashes at was dead. But that feeling of sorrow quickly disappeared when Melanie cried to Scarlett about wanting to have Ashley’s baby. Even though
The Barbary Wars were fought between United States and the African Ottoman Empire that consisted of Algiers, Tripoli, and Tunis, and Morocco known as the Barbary States (Huff). The United States and the Barbary States fought two wars; the First war took place between 1801-1805 and fought by the Tripoli and America, the second took place between 1815-1818 between America and Algiers. The first war is considered to be the first American transatlantic interference, helping the development of American policies (Monsieurs). The start of the wars occurred due to President Thomas Jefferson refusing to pay the Barbary State of Tripoli ransom to bring back the sailors the privates kidnapped in the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean was one of the biggest
The Battle of Verdun was one of the worst battles in history with a plethora of soldiers lost. Alistair Horne describes the Battle of the Verdun as “a soldier’s battle” since nearly one million soldiers were killed there and the battle lasted for three hundred days and nights. (Horne notes and Verdun slides) Moreover, soldiers Verdun witnessed endless bombardment, which meant their dead troops could not be buried. (Verdun slides) In other words, soldiers probably had to fight one another for space so they would not have to walk on the dead bodies since they could not be buried. Last, there were bloodier aspects of the Battle of Verdun besides shelter.
For years leapfrog has sold reading items to help children learn to read and help with basic math skills like counting, adding, subtracting, etc. Leapfrog claims will help children with it’s 32-minute program. The problem is that children will not focus on a television show for thirty minutes. Especially if the episode skips around from plot to counting without an explanation. Leapfrog was disappointing and hard to watch. Not only was it non-educational but it was poorly done. I can tell that parents do not watch this show with their children sincei am an adult I could not fully understand what leapfrog’s intent was. I got lost when they were showing children how to count and never said why there were counting and why numberland exsisted.

The Battle of Poltava was part of the Great Northern war. This battle was between the Russians and the Swedes. The Battle of Poltava happened in 1709-1729. So this war lasted about 20 years. The Russians were dragged into this battle because the Swedes wanted more territory. Also that King Charles wouldn't accept the peace offering from the Russians (Peter) to not come near their country, but Charles wanted to invade St. Petersburg which was Peter’s new capital. This battle was important because it marked the beginning of the end of Sweden as a major power in Europe and marked the rise of Russia as a major power.

As a child, I loved movies, so my parents showed me movie after movie. For the most part, I would watch child-friendly movies that would lighten my heart and stick in my mind. One day, my father decided to show me a movie called Gremlins, thinking it would be appropriate for me. However, that wasn’t the case. After watching the movie, I became deathly afraid of darkness, and it took me years to overcome this fear. The movie started with featuring by featuring a cute, cuddly foreign animal named Mogai. I immediately wanted one of my own, but it didn’t exist in real life – something I didn’t know at the time. What turns this story into a nightmare is when the Mogai is not cared for according to precise instructions. When deviation occurred, it resulted in the multiplication of the creature, and then those creatures turned into monsters called Gremlins.
