Comparative Analysis Folktales have been passed down through the years, from one's voice, to being written down on pieces of paper and now through a screen. Still obtaining the interests of people and taking them to a world of wonder and imagination. Through these years these tales have inspired the mind of others creating new versions of the the tales once told each taking a form of its now and creating a new tale…. Beauty and the Beast is one of them in where……….. In the many Versions out there i will comparing Andrew Lang and the one i grew up to know by Walt Disney. Although the stories both focus around Beauty and the Beast in Langs Versions Beauty was once a rich girl with multiple siblings whose father lost his wealth and became
The story of Sleeping Beauty is told in many different forms and is most famous from Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. For example, the fairytale “The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood” by Charles Perrault is quite different than Disney 's version. This fairytale should be researched because it has an interesting historical background and it is still culturally relevant to this day. The three main points that will be discussed about Sleeping Beauty in this paper is historical background, the different ways this fairytale is represented, and the cultural significance this story has on society. Researching this story has opened my eyes that the Sleeping Beauty movie I
Twist on fairy tales can be a bit precarious as most people reading them are already set in how they envision the story based on their interaction with the original work. Rachel L. Demeter boldly shakes up the well established telling of Beauty and the beast, as she strips it down to its raw foundation
Beauty and the Beast, a great story to tell following the lesson of “never judge a book by its cover”. There are many books and few movies. There is the animated one and the recently released human actors one. I’m going to be comparing and contrasting two books, Disney Beauty and the Beast and The Graphic Novel Beauty and The Beast, to the new movie Beaty and the Beast.
The story of Beauty and the Beast finds new life in this magical and imaginative retelling that’s filled with romance and adventure.
The phenomenal remaking of Disney’s classic “Beauty and the Beast” came to life March 2017. An animated classic that refashions the classic characters from the tale as told as time, while staying true to the original soundtrack while updating the musical score by adding several new songs. The remaking of "Beauty and the Beast" was stunning and gorgeous. Beautifully and artfully performed. Dazzlingly colorful and charming. Directed by Oscar winning Bill Condon and based off of the 1991 original film. It is no wonder that this $160,000,000 production is becoming famous world wide.
Fairy tales are stories that allow kids to leave their normal lives and venture into a world of imaginary creatures, princesses, and magical places. The stories provide valuable lessons on confronting fear, overcoming a problem, and responsibility. The Fairy Tales that instill a sense of adventure and children connect with emotionally are classic short stories that have been around since the late 17th century. However, the happy, sweet stories that people grow up listening to are quite different than the original fairy tales. The Disney version of the story, The Sleeping Beauty, is a kind tale of a princess that overcomes obstacles and in the end has a happy life. The story, The Sleeping Beauty in the wood, written by
Beauty and the Beast is a wonderful children’s movie, its directed by: Gary Trousdale, and Kirk Wise, and produced by: Don Hahn. Disney is the main sponsor and gives the movie the best cast of artist and musicians. Who would except anything else from Disney, they are the best at children’s films. At the same time, Disney succeeds in teaching our children a very vital lesson in life, how good looks and fame is not the key to true love. Which is created throughout the movie of Beauty and the Beast released in 1991 with the most sincere reviews and touching style. Consequently, the movie exploits a great deal of feminism and chauvinistic ways unexcitable to this day and age.
Historical children 's tales have been the basis of every person’s childhood for years. These stories, however, do have original versions that should be analyzed when researching the true meanings of these children 's stories. Walt Disney portrays children 's tales as a simple, fun form of entertainment, but the original stories reveal the bigger truths, changes, and adversities of these children books. The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Sleeping Beauty are three of the many children 's stories that have controversial backgrounds. No matter the time frame, these stories have their differences, but strangely enough have more than plenty similarities.
In a paper of this size I neither wish to criticize scholars for neglecting this area, nor do I hope to remedy this problem in one blow. Instead this paper will examine the particular ways in which Disney uses the medium of animation in order to incorporate the medieval into his adaptation of Sleeping Beauty, as well as the very pointed anachronistic exceptions it makes to this medievalesque trend. I will then analyze how these particular implementations of the medieval, as well as the exceptions, serve to create a fantastic feeling of nostalgia for a
The movie the “Beauty and the Beast” by director Bill Condon, is a fairy tale about a young woman and a beast that fell in love. The beast was originally a prince that got turned into a beast. He was turned into this because he couldn't ever see the real beauty in things and only cared about himself. He then imprisoned Belle, a young woman, and her father. Belle then found herself taking the place of her father in the castle and sent her father home. She learned to care about the beats and truly fell in love with him and turned him back into the man he once was. Everything turned back to normal and they lived happily ever after. This movie was the remake of the original Beauty and the Beast that was made back in 1991. It took them twenty six years to make a new movie, but it turned out great. It is a movie with beautiful music, lots of special effects, and wonderful actors that play an important role.
When I was a young girl I was a big fan of reading and watching fairy tales. During that time I could have retold almost any one of my favorite fairy tale stories. My favorite fairy tale would have to be “Beauty and the Beast.” Although there were several versions growing up, I was only familiar with Walt Disney’s version of the story. As we grow up stories and how we remember them are important because people are able to relate to the characters and possibly teach us about different life lessons.
Last Saturday, September 30th, I had the opportunity to see ACT's production of Beauty and the Beast at Richland High School. Beauty and the Beast was originally produced by Disney Theatrical Productions with music by Alan Menken, words by Howard Ashman & Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton. The story is about a young prince who is put under a spell for disrespecting an old enchantress. He is turned into a hideous, fearsome beast while his servants are turned into enchanted objects. the spell can only be broken if he learns to love and his love is returned. 10 years later, Belle is a young French girl, a pariah in her community for wanting more than her simple, boring life in the village. She gets her wish when her father is trapped in the Beast's castle and she trades her freedom for his. After a rather rocky start, Belle learns to love the ma inside the monster and the spell is broken.
Once upon a time in a land far away a beautiful young princess lived in a shining towering castle. All though the princess had everything her heart desired, the princess was spoiled, selfish, and unkind. One day on a cold, bitter winters night a beggar had arrived at the castle and offered the princess a single rose in return for shelter. The princess repulsed by the beggar's jagged appearance turned the old beggar away. The beggar warned the princess not to be deceived by appearance for beauty comes within. Still the princess turned the beggar away and when she did, the old man’s ugly jagged appearance had washed away only to reveal a handsome young sorcerer. The princess then begged the handsome young sorcerer to forgive her but it had been too late for the sorcerer saw that the princess had no love in her heart. So the sorcerer as a punishment had turned the princess into a hideous beast and placed a powerful spell on the castle and all who lived there. The princess ashamed of her beastly form stayed hidden in her castle. The rose the sorcerer had brought was an enchanted rose that would bloom until her 21st birthday, which in that time she would have to learn to truly love another and earn his love in return before the last pedal falls or else she would stay a beast forever.
Jeanne-Marie LePrince de Beaumont was a French Author that lived from April 1711- September 1780 in France. Her most well-known story is her version of “Beauty and the Beast” that was the base for the 1991 film, “Beauty and the Beast”. In Jeanne-Marie’s version of Beauty and the Beast there is a rich merchant with six children who ends up losing all his money. On one of his job trips he causes trouble with the Beast. Beauty takes his place as prisoner and in due time ends up falling in love with the Beast. Jeanne-Marie is able to continue her theme of being humble in the version of a love story with a protagonist, Beauty, who remains virtuous throughout the entire story, and the antagonists are Beauty’s sisters who care too much about having money.
Beauty and The Beast is an all-time favorite children's fairy tale. I think Beauty and The Beast is interesting because it is about a young
