Becoming an Eagle Scout has been a life ambition of mine for long time, starting when I became a Cub Scout. When I was a Cub Scout I knew becoming an Eagle Scout be an extremely great accomplishment and would set the foundry for me being able to achieve my life goals and be successful. Being in Boy Scouts has introduced me into many different fields of work and has allowed me to fully develop what I want to be. My first goal is to finish High School with Honors. I may change want I wish to be when I get older but no matter what my high school grades will play a major factor. This motivates to be the best student I can be and work hard in all my classes. Overall, I just want to be contented with my life in the future and not realize that I am miserable and that I have wasted my life. In the near future, I also aspire to do well in all four years of high school. This also applies to college. Another goal for the future that I have is to get a scholarship for college because of the fact that I want to go to college, but I don't want to drown in college debt.
As a student of Saint Lawrence, any kid can be a steward to other people. They can serve others and assist them with their journey to become a more adept Catholic steward. I’m currently a boy scout right now in Troop 101. A boy scout can exemplify as being a steward. They aid other people and serve the nation on what they decided to establish. As a boy scout, there's one community service I associated with with my fellow troop members this year. The service was at Mount Saint Joseph Carmelite Monastery up in the hills. Nuns and priests needed people to assist them with clearing twigs and garbage in one of their fields, so the janitor doesn’t have to do too much work in there and just pick up the trash instead. All throughout my life, since the age of five, I was an active member in the scouting program. My goal throughout my thirteen plus years in the program, was to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. Growing from a young immature child to a young adult that can effectively plan, execute, and fulfill the requirements of the rank of Eagle Scout.
Earning the Boy Scout Eagle rank will be my greatest accomplishment so far in my life. Navigating the path to my Eagle Scout rank has taken half of my life. The rank advancements, acknowledgements and even the challenges along the way have provided their own rewards and have allowed me to grow and better understand myself and others.
For right now, the most important thing for me to do is finish up high school with good grades. By doing this it will look good on my college resume and I might get accepted into a really good college. Plus, good grades should be important to everyone. You should be trying your hardest in class, good grades is something to be proud of. This goal for me might be the hardest of the three. I will have to do many different things just to be able to say that I have accomplished this goal that is set towards my future. With hard work I know that I will be able to do it.
In the 2nd grade I made one of the most influential decision’s in my life, to become a Cub Scout of Pack 920. In Cub Scouts I learned basic skills of character and service. When I was in fifth grade I crossed over into Boy Scouts Troop 87. Boy Scouts taught me how to improve my character and leadership skills. Boy Scouts has given me many opportunities to volunteer in my community. Boy Scouts has given me the necessary skills to be an effective member of National Junior Honor Society.
I am very proud of my time spent in Boy Scouts and earning my Eagle. I have been in scouting since first grade. I’ve acquired numerous instrumental skills such as leadership and time management. I have made lifelong friends that I will always be able to count on and have fun with. I have been repelling, mountain climbing, caving, water skiing, and even some crazy things like riding an ATV off a mountain slope and sailing in 20 mph winds while raining. My family now goes camping multiple times a year, has a whitewater center pass, and is amenable to go on new adventures. In Boy Scouts I held the position of Quarter Master, placing me in charge of our troops equipment. My first few years in scouts we used old cooking boxes that were falling apart and lacking the supplies needed for cooking. I arranged to build new cooking boxes that would be sturdy and fit the patrols stove inside. I developed an organized system for assigning items to patrols so that they would have working equipment that they needed. Two years later, an adult recognized me and thanked me for my contribution and informed me that the boxes are still in use.

A fundamental distinction between Girls Scouts and Boy Scouts is the ranking or phases that are utilized in both of the nonprofit organizations. Phases in a Scouting program is extremely crucial to the progression of the youth. According to “Boy Scouts of America”, the Boy Scouts ranking system has seven phases. The seven phases include: Scout, Tenderfoot, Second-class, First-class, Star, Life and Eagle. Each of these phases require the youth participates to uphold a certain level of integrity and master a particular skill. When a Boy Scout wants to advance in these phases, they must first assemble a meeting with their scout master. Many people believe the Boy Scouts of America, BSA program is blemished due to recent events. However, I think the Boy Scout program is a great thing. This program gave me various life-long experiences and presented different aspects of the world. More importantly, this program shaped my personal experiences by allowing me to understand the benefits of leadership, teamwork, and improve communication.
The History of boy scouts starts way back in the 1900’s as British Baden Powell develops an organization in attempt to develop young men into war ready adults at the age of 18. As the world change, so did the Boy Scouts, from being brought to American to the founding of smaller branches and achievements for the scouts. Not only was development of the boy scouts began, the history of achievements grew within the Boy Scout association, to hitting 1 Million Scouters, 5 million scout handbooks, Presidential invites, to even celebrating their 100th anniversary.
