Bee species in the United States and around the world are being put on the endangered species list. Bees are a very important part of our food supply and everyday lives. Bees do more than you think, and there are several reasons to why they are going extinct. Bees are an essential part of our food supply. Most people think that bees only make honey for us to eat, but that is certainly not all they do. Bees pollinate flowers which allows fruits and vegetables to grow. Just imagine what our lives would be life would be like without fruits and vegetables. If the bees didn’t pollinate flowers, than grass wouldn’t grow either. This means that we would not have anything for our meat animals to eat. Without bees, we would not have honey, fruits,
The honey bee is vital to an estimated $117 billion annual production of crops through pollination within the United States more than a half of the food that humans consume has a correlation with the bee either directly or indirectly. The USDA reports the following food products would be immediately damaged if no bees were available to pollinate:
The impact of bees disappearing on the environment is not having enough food. Bees and other pollinators have a role in pollinating one out of every three bites of food you eat. Without bees to spread seeds, many plants, including food crops, would die off.
There are many problems with bees currently. One of those problems includes the decline of the bee population and their hives. On the other hand there are many good things that are related to bees. An example of this is the pollination of plants by bees. If bees did not exist then there would be a drastic decrease in most of the food that people eat on a daily basis.
It was a normal, peaceful Wednesday morning in Tuscon, Arizona. Four landscapers were called to tend to a yard for a ninety-year-old man. One of them turned on his lawnmower. Almost immediately, the vibration of its engine had disturbed an enormous hive of approximately 800,000 Africanized bees nearby. The noises appeared to be a threat to the colony. As a result, thousands of them swarmed the men, injected their venom, and clogged their orifices up, such as their ears and nostrils. There were so many bees that one of the first responders had described the sky getting dark from the flock, although it was sunny out. From this attack, one man died and another received one hundred stings. This one of the many examples
Honeybees are very important to our food supply because they pollinate our plants and help them grow. Other than the sun and water bees bring to crop or plants a lot of the nutrition that the plant is going to need and so the plant is able to produce more. Without bees helping our food grow we would be very short on food supply.
One third of our fruit and vegetables are pollinated by bees, and they pollinate around 70 of the 100 crop species that feed 90% of the earth. To put it simply, the human race can barely survive without bees. Sure, we would probably find ways to pollinate some crops without bees, but humans will never be able to do their job as well as they
L: Link: As a result, the bee population is obviously on a huge downfall. Not only locally or regionally but, all over the world and as the years go on they will soon be extinct at the rate we are going.
Bees are very beneficial to humans in more ways than honey production. Fruits and vegetables all start with a flower. Some types of fruits and veggies need to be pollinated, so that the flower develops into a fruit or vegetable. Pollen must reach the flower in order for a vegetable or fruit to grow. Bees are one insect that does the job of pollinating. Without bees, there are many types of fruits and vegetables that would not produce. Humans and animals are dependent on many of these plants for a variety of the food they produce. Without bees, we would not have many of the foods that grow from plants that rely on their pollination. It has become a topic of study and concern. Many people who understand the important
In October of last year, first time in the United States bees became known as endangered and appeared on the list of endangered species. How do they help with agriculture? Most of the questions are not answered on how they are becoming extinct if there were so many of them years ago, how did they become extinct? Most bees are harmless until you mess with them but that has nothing to do with how they are becoming extinct. In the paragraphs below I will be explaining how I think bees are important to our food supply, possible threats that harm their population, and the step that may help to protect bees.
Bee extinction is an important topic for the beekeepers to discuss. It could prove fatal if it continues over a period of time. These bees are decreasing by thousands every month and beekeepers are having to do double time on their work. Honeybees pollinate more than 90 percent of all crops so without bees food would decrease by approximately 90 percent. For every 3 bites we eat ⅓ of the food is pollinated by bees. Scientist call this The Colony Collapse Disorder. More than 15$ billion dollars a year in U.S crops are
Soon there will be 50% gone. According to CNN, bees are not the only pollinators, the group includes: insects and animals such as birds and bats. They are under threat because of widespread pesticide use, climate change, the emergence of foreign pests, diseases and habitat loss. Our world relies on bees and the other pollinators to produce some of the nature's most nutritious and beloved food.
Have you ever wondered just how important bees are to the planet? I have spent the last few weeks researching bees and how they impact the world and the various ecosystems that they are a part of. Bees are often overlooked, but they contribute so much to the world’s agriculture and their presence definitely makes life much easier for us. Bees are very unique animals that are extremely beneficial to the world but are sadly disappearing. Because of everything they do for us, it is definitely worth it to be educated on how they work and what exactly it is they do for us.
Honeybees play a significant role in helping pollinate many different crops and flowers. As honeybees gather pollen and nectar for their survival, they pollinate crops of fruits and vegetables. “Some crops, including blueberries and cherries, are 90-percent dependent on honey bee pollination; one crop, almonds, depends entirely on the honey bee for pollination at bloom time” (KAUFFELD). According to facts listed by the Almond Board of California, “one-third of global food production volume relies on pollinators, to some degree” (@almonds, Bee).
There are many issue worldwide that plague in the different communities all over. In the state of Georgia, bees play a major role. A lot of people may question why does it matter if bees are around or not. Our community rely on bees so that we may have food. Not only does our community rely on bees pollination, but other communities worldwide. Without the major role of our bees, our food count would decrease. Having no bees would put our lives at risk. The idea of the nonexistence of bees could change the world, not for the good but for the bad. In actuality we should be thanking bees.
Unknowingly, an insect as a bee can have catastrophic harm to our lives. Bees may seem very dangerous but they are the species that has dramatic effects to our supplies and business. Bees are very essential to our everyday lives because without bees our food necessities, health essentials, and economy decrease. Honey bees should be protected because without them we would lose a vital source of food and medicinal treatments, and nature like basic flowers and plants will eventually rot and die.
