Wonder When Auggie’s mom told him that he was going to Beecher Prep he was really nervous, but was happy that he can make some new friends. He will have a great time so that maybe he can’t have a negative impact. He was really happy that he can finally go to public school but yet he was nervous. When Auggie was born, he was not like any other kids he was different from all the other people so that kinda made his life hard for him because he had a rare sickness that does not often happens but for Auggie it happened to him. He thought that was not fair for this to happen to him and not anyone else. When he was born that is when it started for him.In the book it says this “ I know I’m not a ordinary ten-year-old-kid.” (pg.3) …show more content…
In Beecher Prep some one said “And you’ll learn things never learn with me.” (pg.12). So there was something else someone said to Auggie and it was really positive it on (pg.41) “that’s cool about how you’re pursuing your dream.” So it would seems that he had a positive impact When he went to Beecher Prep it had a more positive impact and the rest of the year was a little negative.his life got better over the year he has had,has been much better. Now I have a question, Do you think Auggie’s experience at Beecher Prep had a more positve or a more negative impact on his life? I want to know your answer. That made his life much better than it did when he was home
Near the end of the book Auggie feels accepted. On page 282 we find evidence of this when he says, “It was like I was one of them.” When he says “them” he is referring to the other students. Auggie could finally feel “normal” and it is necessary for August to feel this way because people have always seen Auggie as strange because of his face. At a point August even forgets he has Treacher Collins syndrome. On page 307 we find an example of this, “I wasn’t even thinking about my face. I was just smiling a big happy smile.” August felt like it didn 't matter what his face looked like. It just mattered that he was happy. For once, Auggie didn 't feel like everyone was trying to get away from him; on the contrary, he said, “It kind of felt like everyone wanted to get close to me.” (pg 308) August can finally feel like a “normal” kid.
His facial difference was his main struggle in life. An example of Auggie demonstrating the May precept from Mr.Browne was when he chose not to report the 7th graders who were using firecrackers, bullied Auggie physically and verbally, and took his hearing aids (even though the teachers found out anyway). In the same situation, Auggie wanted to run away from the 7th grade bullies, but he stayed, because he didn’t want to leave Jack behind. More than enough times, Auggie always put up with Julian’s bullying and mean notes, and he never told a teacher. He was never rude when he noticed people staring at him excessively, or looking away when they saw him. Auggie was always very good at being good to everyone he
Julian's chapter is really surprising if you read the first book. It's no spoiler that in the first book, “Wonder”, Julian doesn't like Auggie too much, he portrays a bully. He put mean notes in his locker, he made a game called the pledge, so if you touch Auggie or anything he touched you would have the pledge. Julian also turned everyone against Auggie, you can tell he was a mean kid to Auggie. When Julian got his class picture he made sure that his picture to not have Auggie in it. In his chapter he says, “I hope you’re planning on burning that” to his mom and he meant it. You would not believe what he really thinks of Auggie though, you'll just have to read his chapter to find out.
In the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio, Auggie shows insecurity by being antisocial, hiding his face, and blaming his looks on everything that goes wrong. When his sister Via had a school play, she didn’t invite Auggie because she thought he would be bored but Auggie thought his sister didn’t invite him because he was deformed. “You think I don’t know what’s going on? You just don’t want your fancy little friends to find out your brother is a freak” (Auggie 218). According to this quote, August is insecure because he didn’t get invited to sister’s play and blamed it on his appearance right away instead of considering other possibilities. Another example of August’s insecurity is when he almost missed what ended up being the best thing that ever happened in his life. He explained “Via, I don’t think I should go to the campout. What’s the point? I won’t make any friends because everyone will scream and run away from me. I know I would if I saw someone who looked like me” (Auggie 263). This quote shows how insecure he is because
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go to a new school with no friends and a different face? To have everyone look at you and make a repelling face? That’s what it was like for August Pullman in the 5th grade. Auggie is different that everybody else in 5th grade. Auggie was born with a facial deformity so he looks different that other people he has had 27 so far in his life. Auggie goes to a school called Beecher Prep. In my opinion Beecher Prep has had a positive effect on Auggie’s life because now he has made more friends like Summer, Jack Will, Max G, Max W, and Reid. Sometimes it is hard for auggie to fit in when people like julian step into the picture, but overall Beecher Prep has made Auggie’s life a little easier.
Auggie was born with Treacher Collins syndrome and a Cleft Palate. After multiple surgeries, his Cleft Palate is mostly gone and the Treacher Collins Syndrome is better than what it was. According to the book, “When I came out of my Mom’s, she said the whole
On page 15, dad said “ so sending him off to middle school like a lamb to the slaughter .’’ this is stating that his dad doesn’t really approve of him going to middle school at that period of time. His dad is having an argument with Auggie’s mom. She thinks that he should go to school because she thinks it will be good for
August Pullman is a 10-year-old boy who has a mandibulofacial dysostosis. Which causes his face to appear different. Because of Auggie’ appearance, people a very unkind to him. Auggie has gotten 27 surgeries to help him with his facial deformity. He lives with his parents, his older sister Via, and his dog Daisy. Auggie has been home schooled up until the 5th grade, but his parents decide it's time for him to go to a real school. They register him to Beecher Prep and take him to meet the principal, Mr. Tushman. Before Auggie starts school he takes a tour with three students who will be in the same grade as he was going in. On the tour, he meets Jack Will, Charlotte, and Julian. Jack Will was the kind kid, but Julian was really mean to
I knew I wanted to run out of the class right then and there. But I stood where I was and listened to Jack Will finish what he was saying”’ (Palacio, 2012, p. 77). This shows that his actions caused Auggie to feel hurt and abandoned by one of his best friends. Jack’s actions also triggered Auggie to drop him as a friend, and not talk to him unless, he needed him for school.
Another reason I think his time at Beecher Prep was positive was because of how he was talking about it to his mom for instance on pg. 309 auggie says to his mom “Thank you for making me go to school.” This shows that Auggie did like his Beecher Prep experience overall.
Auggie goes to the middle school,Beecher Prep and it is in walking distance of his home. But Via's school on the other hand, is “ a bit of a schlep. The A train down 86th, then the crosstown bus all the way to the Eastside. Takes an hour But it's just a 15 min drive”(pg. 32).
During Halloween, Auggie states that his favorite holiday is Halloween, the reason he was so fond of Halloween, is because he can wear a mast and not show anyone his face abnormalities. During this incident Auggie was supposed to wear a Boba Fett costume (from Star Wars) but since they were running late, he decided to wear his bleeding scream costume he wore the previous year. When Auggie Auggie got to school he felt very happy that he can be like the other kids and when he stands in front of his homeroom class he hears a person dressed up as Darth Sidious and he realized that it was Julian making fun of him and he was talking to two mummies and then he hears one of them saying, “I’ve thought about this a lot, and I really think...If I looked
The 2nd negative impact that has happened upon August was the betrayal. At the Halloween party at school, Auggies overhears Jack will (his ex best friend) talking about him and how Mr.Tushman asked him to hang out with august out of pity. August gets so fed up about Jack Will talking behind his back that he starts to accuse summer for hanging out with him out of pity.( 124-126)
On page 187 it states “ The first time I meet Olivia’s little brother, I have to admit I’m totally taken by surprise.” This shows how he did not expect the face that Auggie has and it kind of shows that he was overwhelmed. I also feel like Justin connected to the Elephant man to Auggie because they both had a deformed
As is expected of Baratheon men, Daveth possessed a keen talent for strategy and leadership as his own father Robert Baratheon and paternal uncles Stannis and Renly. Even for his own family, he is also known for his extreme intellect and cunning, a trait that allowed him to outmaneuver his political rivals such as Lord Petyr Baelish and his own mother Cersei Lannister with relative ease. In addition, Daveth Baratheon received formal combat training at a young age by Ser Barristan Selmy and his maternal uncle Jaime Lannister and grew to be a highly-skilled swordsman in his own right. In contrast to Robert and Joffrey, Daveth is said to be a popular figure by the nobility and smallfolk – but this could be an example of Daveth being charismatic:
