I believe I am the best candidate for this scholarship because of my dedication to become a good radiation therapist. I have been dedicated to becoming a radiation therapist ever since my dad received radiation therapy when I was in high school. Because of this dedication to become a radiation therapist and help cancer patients the way my dad’s radiation therapists helped him I will always work my hardest to achieve that goal. I also believe I am the best candidate because I am extremely persistent, and I don’t allow setbacks and failures to stop me from achieving my goals. I take pride in my ability to learn from my mistakes and improve in the future. Winning this scholarship would greatly help me reduce some of the stress due to the high
In Radiology, there is not too many codes used within the department. However, when a doctor orders an exam, often times they
Radiologic technology is a satisfying and rewarding career. It is a technical and refined science. As a radiological technologist, there are many essential duties and responsibilities that have to be fulfilled in order to be a good one. First of all, radiological technologists have to maintain a well-mannered and professional behavior when gathering information. They have to assure their patients that they are in good hands therefore; they give patients the uppermost quality of care and services. Second of all, the main responsibility of a healthcare provider is to keep all knowledge of a patient’s health record confidential or secluded. That means radiological technologists cannot talk about patients at home or with friends and classmates
Looking at the values listed in the National Association of Social Workers (NASW, 2008) and the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW, 2010) code of ethics, I can see that the values held by the profession are also values I regard highly, such as respect for persons, social justice, professional integrity, service, importance of human relationships, and competence.
Cleveland Clinic Science Internship Program, Radiology (2016) This is a nine-week, paid internship for rising high school juniors and seniors who attend school in Northeast Ohio. This internship gives students the ability to work with nationally-renowned physicians, researchers, and other healthcare professionals. Students are given the opportunities to focus on research, innovation, education, and development of better, more efficient ways to achieve quality in patient care. I had the opportunity to shadow and assist in every specialty of Fairview Hospital’s Radiology Department and completed a research
A gigantic change overnight happened in Australia that made the field extend as a rival in the field of radiography (AIR 2014, 1). In July 2012, another national arrangement of enrollment and accreditation started took off. This implied interestingly that as opposed to enlisting at the state level or at an organization in a domain, or not enrolling by any means, persons wishing to work in these three zones in Australia expected to enroll with the national body (AIR 2014, 1).
The first couple weeks of school are always the most stressful. They get you thinking about how the semester is going to be and different ways to get you motivated. However, the beginning of this semester is probably one of the most stressful semesters that I have encountered because being a part of the radiography program is a very big achievement. It is a program where I know I will have to be ahead of the game the whole two years, which keeps me on my feet. Throughout this paper I am going to discuss the reasons why I wanted to enter into the program, and the things that I have learned so far along with my short-term and long-term goals.
Radiology technicians play an important role in society and have the ability to make a positive impact on people’s lives. They have the ability to make a difference in a patient’s live by employing their communication and patient care skills. Working as a radiology technician would allow me to fulfill my passion for helping others and making an impact while working in a career that I know I would love. I have been fortunate enough to work alongside many radiology technicians for over 4 years and have come to realize the vital role they play in Healthcare. The fast-paced work environment and major responsibility is something that I am intrigued by. I find radiologic imaging such a fascinating technology and am extremely passionate to make a career out of it.
However, if you are willing to take that option and you are wanting to become a Radiation Technologists, you must be willing to take a hold on the responsibilities and duties. These responsibilities and duties may be challenging, but can be extremely rewarding in the long run. You must be very patient while reading the details of an image. In order to protect your patient from radiation there must be a radiation shield over them. But, before you can get started on any x-rays, there are questions about their medical history that need to be asked first. Organizing and neatness can be a major key in keeping up with medical records of patients. Although you think your job may be just x-rays and the like, you still have a physician present in the room at all times who will be giving you instructions on where to x-ray the patient.
By adopting these, a more familiar atmosphere can be created where a radiographer knows what is expected of him and who is he working with. This will help in minimizing the risk factor and improving efficiency(NHS National reporting and learning service 2008).( National Patient Safety Agency, 2009).
In the mid-1960s, an era when Technology was rapidly advancing, it became important for all the Radiology professions governing bodies, ARRT, ASRT, and ACR, to increase the standards and level of training for Radiology professionals (Phillips, 2010). This advancement began to make the term “Technician” quite limiting. So, with more emphasis on professionalism and education, the term “Technologist” was born because it accurately reflected the Associate Society of Radiologic Technologist (ASRT) membership (Phillips, 2010). This development and classification also came with additional responsibility, where all Technologists have to adhere to the standards created by the ARRT.
If you look at any company or organization, you are bound to find a list of values, things that others view as positive qualities in a person. These could be things such as honesty, knowledge, diligence, and compassion. Values set up a foundation for the organization, something for their employees to follow and exemplify in their service to the general public. Employees can use their organization’s values to see what their strengths are and where they need to improve. Values also provide a reference point when hiring new employees, helping employers to see which individuals are already living the organization’s values. The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) has such a list of values, which they refer to as ‘Core Values’. These are Accountability, Altruism, Compassion/Caring, Excellence, Integrity, Professional Duty, and Social Responsibility. It is important for me, as a future Physical Therapist Assistant, to look at the APTA’s Core Values and see where my strengths and weaknesses lie.
Values are what dictate our choices and decisions, values are what determine the course of our life (e.g., relationships, career choice, interacting with people, etc.) Values are not universal; each individual simply adopts the values of his/her parents or whatever dominant in the society. As human we differ in how we experience pain, how we communicate, our attitudes, expectations, beliefs, behavior, actions, etc. My values either the personal or professional are congruent to the helping profession and the ACA code of ethics. The primary value that I feel is significant is the self-determination to promote social justice and be the advocate for change on behalf of the clients and the society as a whole. In parallel to self-determination; are
The article that I read talk about how patient contact becomes very important to the radiologists. Now that patients can access patient portals online, so patients now contact became even more difficult. The author can direct contact by providing reports that easy to understand. The university of Pennsylvania HUP in Philadelphia invented patient oriented Radiology ReporTER (PORTER) to narrow the patient and radiologist relationship gap. The university of Pennsylvania only focused MRI reports and provides medicinal definition for the medicinal terms. The assistant professor of radiology and chief and advanced imaging at HUP, Cook said that PORTER helped the radiologist to interact with their patient more than ever. The patient can look up their report easier and with their in their own time. Now they want to react more patient while provided this service.
As there is alack of consensus as to what fitness to practise encompasses the authors described the need for the study and that is clearly shown in the literature review. This makes a good introduction as said an introduction should sate the aim of the research. The authors have gathered information from a variety of sources such as the Medical Radiation Practise Board of Australia and the General Medical Council which makes their information more reliable as it is from a credible source. The fact that they have also used references from different media e.g. books and journals also increases the validity of the article.
