He was a private businessman who made enough money to retire early and to spend the rest of his life in politics. Around this time period only the rich were able to retire early. He was industrious. Franklin continually put forth the idea of the industrious American. He had support from the middle-class who did not care if he was rich but he was a man who was self-made and worked hard. Out of all of the founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin in my opinion is the one who had the greatest impact on our nation and still has a great influence on our nation today. Mostly people are familiar with Benjamin Franklin from his head being on the front of the 100 dollar bill, but there’s more to him than just his face being on the 100 dollar bill. He made a huge impact on us and not everyone realizes it, but that’s how he made it on the 100 dollar bill. Not only was Benjamin Franklin apart of founding our nation, he was also scientist, diplomat, businessman, and philosopher. Benjamin Franklin was born on January 17th, 1706 in Boston, Massachusetts to soap maker Josiah Franklin and his second wife Abigail Folger. Benjamin Franklin was apart of a big family and he was the 10th child out of 16 siblings. His siblings names were Jane Mocum, James Franklin, Anne Harris, Joseph Franklin I,  Samuel Franklin, Sarah Davenport, Mary Holmes, Hannah Cole, Josiah Franklin Jr, Ebenzer Franklin, Peter Franklin, Thomas Franklin, John Franklin, Lydia Scott, Elizabeth Douse, and Joseph Franklin II.  When Benjamin Franklin was younger his father wanted him to become a preacher, so he sent him away to a grammar school when he was only eight years old. Less than a year later, the family went through some financial struggles so he had to be transferred to Mr. George Brownell’s school for writing and math. During the second Continental Congress, the delegates decided that they needed to protect themselves and declare war against England. After money, supplies, and soldiers began running low the Continental Congress chose Benjamin Franklin to negotiate a French alliance. Benjamin Franklin played many roles in the American Revolution had previously introduced the Albany plan which later became the groundwork in writing the Articles of Confederation (first constitution). He also testified against the Stamp Act and helped draft the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Later in 1776 he went to France as an American delegate and successfully got French help in the Revolutionary war effort.

Once they heard that all of these were in Lexington and Concord they quickly headed that way, but as soon as they reached town they were met with angry armed colonists that made them swiftly retreat after intense fire. Having been born in the first month of the year 1706 in Boston, Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin has been regarded an iconic figure not only in the history of America but as well as the world.1 Although he had a deep passion for reading, he could only manage to attend school for two years. He then joined his brother at the age of 12 in apprenticeship at a shop. At the age of 15 people were reading his very first newspaper in Boston. It is after his letters had become a hit that he declared to be the writer. His brother, James, got furious about his writing so he had to run away to Philadelphia at the age of 17. His love for experiments could be seen at an early age for he carried out an experiment on kites during a lighting storm. This one was in regards to lighting and power. Franklin was a famous politician as well as a civil activist during the Enlightenment Era that took place in North America. He was widely known as he played his role as the Ambassador to France and the effort he made to acquire French military assistance when the American Revolution was ongoing. Among other achievements, Benjamin was among the Founding Fathers that put their signatures for the Declaration of Independence besides helping in the drafting of the United States Constitution. Besides being approachable and self-effacing, Benjamin Franklin was an extremely brilliant person.2 he was first a businessman as well as a scientist although he later got involved in civics and politics.

In response to the cries of the colonists a group of important figures met and called themselves the Continental Congress. This group contained many leaders such as: John Hancock, George Washington, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin. All of the colonies except for Georgia participated. The first meeting sought fairness from the King not Freedom. In this meeting all of the colonies agreed to boycott British goods and create groups of fighters called militia to protect the colonies until the acts were alleviated.

Patrick Henry and his fellow Americans were able to see that a war was inevitable, every effort to declare their independence have been ignored. This was a meeting of delegates from colonies to discuss what to do about the British. This first congress, decided on two actions. The reality of the battle sent a message that there was no going back and in 1775, the Second Continental Congress presided by John Hancock declared war against Britain. On July 4, 1776, in Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson wrote a declaration of the colonies’ independence and separation from England. To approve or deny the “Declaration of Independence” is presented to the Second Continental Congress. Jefferson declares that the colonists deserve “unalienable rights” and that the colonists should be able to “throw off” any government that displays “absolute tyranny.” This document leads the way for the formation of the new “independent states”, where colonists can find “their safety and happiness.” Therefore, Jefferson persuades the colonists to join him in the separation from Britain to claim their rights and accuses King George as a tyrant.
