Bermuda Triangle Conspiracy

Good Essays

Thousands of people, ships, boats, and aircraft have gone missing without a trace while traveling over a triangle region in the south Atlantic ocean; this area has been titled the Bermuda Triangle. For hundreds of years scientists have studied and researched to find an explanation that can resolve the disappearances of all missing vessels but there just does not seem to be an explanation that fits all the criteria. Flight 19 was the first recorded unexplainable disappearance when the U.S. Navy sent five planes over this region and they disappeared without a single distress signal. After that, a rescue flight of fourteen crew members also disappeared while looking for them. The remains of Flight 19, and most other ships and aircraft, have not been spotted to date. Since then, this triangle of death has had a long and ongoing pattern of enigmatic disappearances. The U.S military officially denies that there is mystery associated with the Bermuda Triangle and attributes it just to coincidence; however, evidence proves these people are not just …show more content…

A compass relies on the forces of magnetic energy to give travelers a reliable and constant direction. In the Bermuda Triangle this is not the case. It is one of the only places on earth “where a compass points to true north rather than magnetic north” (Obringer). There is around a twenty degree variation between the two types of north which may seem like a small amount, however, it can throw a ship completely off course and confuse pilots making them unaware of which direction to follow (Obringer). For example, during Flight 19 one of the pilots reported compass problems and became lost quickly. Bruce Gernon also stated that his compass needle was spinning out of control during his traveling (Quesar 118). This could simply be the explanation for why the people lost at sea could not give exact reports of their
