Bethany Wiggins, book sequel Cured takes place in a futuristic world, where most of the population has died. And there are many who are close to dieing, and are no longer human like. This world is close to no humanity left until two characters start changing it with the help of some very close friends by their side. One of the possible themes available for Cured can be Nothing is too big of a problem to overcome when they have those who care about them enough to stick by their side, and help anyone get through it. *The theme in Cured is shown very early on in the book. One of the most used author's craft is Flashbacks Wiggins incorporates almost one every other chapter. This helps with giving a different perspective of what happened in the first book of the sequel Stung. One very important flashback is in the middle of Cured, This flashback, is when Jacqui goes after kevin, jonas, and Bowen, to warn them about the raiders. She realizes Kevin is the one she was warned about she thinks. “‘Every Time {Jacqui} gave me food, I could see how big of a sacrifice it was for you to part with it. It made me want to know more about you. The day you gave me applesauce, and then started crying because you didn’t want to give it away? That’s the moment I started to fall in love with you. Every Time I saw you after that, I fell in love with you more, until it felt like I was living for the days when I got to see you, and the rest of my life was just spent waiting for those days. His words are still rushed, so rushed I wonder if i’ve him right. I don't have time to ponder what he said because he blurts, ‘And now, I need to kiss you one last time” (Wiggins 201). Kevin after this takes Jacqui’s weapons and unarmed her to knock her out. WHile she is passed out she flashes back to the day Kevin described in his perspective and every time the “Vagabond” came to visit. Jac is being scheduled to be put up against very highly trained dogs to kill all people except the one and only master, along with all woman. The ex-governor of the city declares that any person can be put in Jac’s place and have her be set free. Kevin decides to do this, because he couldn't stand her dying and fighting those dogs because of him. The governor decides they both will be put out there together. One night, the night before they are put up against the dogs, Jonah decides to pretended to be kevin. He knows kevin is not as strong as him, since he used to be a level 10 beaste, and still has a portion of that strength and quick healing abilities. Also that kevin and Jac will both die, if he does not go in there, to try and help them all make it out alive. “{Jonah} whispers.’It is better to be scared of doing the right thing, than to regret doing the wrong thing for the rest of your life.’ … ‘Why did you trade places with kevin?’ ‘Because I would never forgive myself if I watched you die when I could have possibly prevented it. I’m stronger than Kevin. I’m stronger than every man in this place, And i’m your best chance for survival. So go out there and fight
