Birds are closely related to crocodiles because they share the same ancestry with the dinosaurs. To compare the crocodile and lizard, one would think the lizard is closely related to crocodiles, as we read in our text, "similar structures don't always reveal common ancestry." Crocodiles and birds evolved having the same common ancestry as the dinosaur. Lizards, on the other hand, do not share a close common ancestor with crocodiles or dinosaurs, their common ancestry is more distant.
There is a lot of evidence that has gone into this theory are birds like dinosaurs? Evidence that birds evolved from carnivorous predators that ruled the ecosystems was rich and it come from contrasting lines of evidence. Originally the main source of evidence to support this scientific theory was the similar shape of bones eg. The wishbone inside the bird as a wishbone is only found in a bird. Also a variety of maniraptorans, but new discoveries have added other lines of research.
The natural world consists of many wonders. Some can be difficult to see or experience but however some wonders are a bit more obtainable, if you want to see a dinosaur all you need to do is look to the skies where they are flying around us, although this comment is very debatable as people have speculated that birds did not evolve form dinosaurs but from their own ancestors. Birds have the same structure as a dinosaur like for example the pterodactyl this is why people thought that birds evolved form dinosaurs but is that really the case?
Dinosaurs became extinct 65 Million years ago, but they left a legacy that are making paleontologists question if they ever went extinct at all. This legacy are the birds. Birds and dinosaurs are one and the same, sharing striking similarities that are clearer today more than ever before. From Maniraptoran to Dromaeosaurids, and even the ferocious Tyrannosaurs, many meat-eating dinosaurs share their anatomy with modern day birds. Despite this, some paleontologists believe this is not the case. Although the theory that birds are indeed very similar to dinosaurs has been around since 1860, there are still scientists that believe the size difference was too great, the anatomy of the mouth and fingers were not compatible, and that the time for their supposed ascension to the
The reason birds lived when the dinosaurs died? Seeds, scientists say is written by Kate Allen. This article talk about how the birds ancestors survived on of the worst days on this planet which is when the asteroid collided with earth.
Belonging to different animal classes, the skeletons of humans and chickens have similarities alongside expected differences. Analyzing a chicken skeleton led to the discovery that while there are certainly visible differences between the bodies, both skeletons have a myriad of bones in common. For example, the bones that both the chicken and human skeleton have in common include: the mandible, the clavicle, the sternum, the scapula, the humerus, and the patella. However, despite the common bones, the chicken skeleton contains bones that humans do not have such as the pygostyle, furcula, and sclerotic ring, while as humans have bones that chickens do not share such as the hyoid, calcaneus, and stapes.
What would the world be like if there were an actual living dinosaur? No, they should not create a chickenosaurus. Based on “Dino-Chicken Gets One Step Closer”, it states that “even if the scientist give the chickens a new feature they won’t be able to use it”. The scientist could harm the chickens. “When the scientist transformed the chicken’s beak embryos into snouts they accidentally changed the palate”. Base on the Dino-Chicken Gets One Step Closer Jack Horner don’t care about anything the only thing he cares about is creating chickenosaurus. In conclusion even if they create chickenosaurus the chickens won’t be able to use it the new feature that the scientist gave them. Lastly the chickens could get harm.
Millions of years ago a dinosaur group, theropods, consisted of killing-machines like the T-Rex and the velociraptor, but recent research has proven that these bloodthirsty carnivores evolved into birds, trading their sharp teeth for beaks. This mind-blowing realization has confused many people for years, but Amy Balanoff reported her findings to show proof of the line of evolutionary descent from horrendous beast to feathery pet.
Argument 1: Why I believe there is dinosaurs in my backyard because back when there was dinosaurs there was a shallow sea around hallett cove south Australia which it would be where we are right now.
A traditional archeological dig, facilitated by new technological advancements uncovers raptor fossils by a team of researchers. This is how the movie Jurassic park begins. It shows almost a foreshadowing of the events to come as the doctor looking at the technology shows weariness to the usage of the machine to do the work they could have done by hand. Likewise, the Jurassic Park movie tells a story of an increased scientific presence in the scientific study of the dinosaurs of the Mesozoic Era. Due to the ardent work of dinosaur researchers, dinosaurs are brought back to life for the purpose of education and entertainment. With this financier and developer of the program, Jeff Hammond brings together a team of scientists, a lawyer and two of his grandchildren on an adventure to experience the park first hand. However, due to a series of unfortunate events the parks loses functionality resulting in their team having to physical experience survival during the time of the dinosaur. While half of the team fights to stay alive the developer his group of survivors must find a way to rescue the visitors and get back in control of the park. I found the movie to be more entertaining than educational. It was more for the purposes of telling a story, which I believe was about the power that genetics has brought humans. The story seems to warn against going too far with the use of genetic information. This, in my opinion, is greatly exemplified by one of the last scenes in the movie.
The extinction of the dinosaurs has caused great controversy all over the world. There are many theories of how they were killed, such as; an asteroid impact, volcanic activity, climate change, and eggs that took too long to hatch. Their extinction allowed humans to rule the Earth in their place.
Dinosaurs are a diverse group of animals from morphological, taxonomic, and ecological viewpoints. Birds are the most diverse group of vertebrates apart from perciform fish. With the help of fossil evidences, paleontologists have recognized more than 500 definite genera and over 1,000 distant species of non-avian dinosaurs. Dinosaurs are represented on every continent by both surviving species (birds) as well as fossil remains. During the first half of the 20th century, before birds were acknowledged to be dinosaurs, the majority of the scientific community suspected dinosaurs to have been listless and
In 1861 Myer also discovered the first archaeopteryx specimen. Researchers state that “archaeopteryx is the oldest known fossil that is accepted as a bird, they are said to date back to one hundred and fifty million years ago which was during the late Jurassic period” (Archaeopteryx, 2014). Archaeopteryx is unique in that it shows characteristics of both reptiles and birds. The reason the species is seen as half reptile and half bird is because it has feathers like a bird, it has teeth which is dinosaur like, and it has a long boney tail. Some other characteristics of archaeopteryx is that it’s hands, shoulders, pelvis, and feet are distinct, not fused. Knowing these different characteristics one can agree that Archaeopteryx can be recognized as an intermediate between birds and reptiles. Archaeopteryx is seen as a clear transition between, two different classes of species, class reptillia and class aves (Kritsky, 1992). This is proof that evolution does exist and it is gradual. Through this species we are able to see that it is the transitional fossil which links dinosaurs to
How did dinosaurs become extinct? This has been a question of society for 340 years and counting. Back in 1676 Robert plot who was the curator of an English museum described and drew a thigh bone that he believed belonged to a giant man. Despite the fact that the fossil disappeared without a trace the illustration Robert Plot had drew suggests that it could have been part of a Megalosaurus. Large teeth were later discovered in England by Mary Ann Mantell and her husband Gideon. The remains they had found were thought to be from an iguana. Richard Owen a British scientist realized that these fossils earlier found were very distinct and like no other living creature. Owen believed because these ancient animals were so different that they deserved their own name so Owen designated the group “Dinosauria” which means “terrible lizard”. From this point forward more and more dinosaur fossils are being found and the question still remains how did the dinosaurs become extinct?
For my animal research project, I chose to do research on the ameraucana chicken. The common name of the Ameraucana chicken is the Ameraucana chicken. Its scientific name is Gallus gallus domesticus, meaning that the Gallus gallus domesticus is a type of domesticated fowl, and it originates from the red junglefowl. It is the most common species of domestic animals. The chicken’s phylum is chordate. Chordate means an animal of the large phylum Chordata, combing the vertebrates together. The classification of the chicken is a bird and a reptile. Did you know that ameraucana chickens lay blue and green eggs? I genuinely believe that the ameraucana chicken is a very fascinating animal.
