Black Hawk Down is a 2001 movie directed by Ridley Scott about a U.S. raid in Mogadishu in 1993. The film portrays the team assembling, going into the mission, and dealing with the attack. This elite team of soldiers are searching out Somalis associated with a drug lord, a mission that is supposed to be easy, but turns into a very bloody and dangerous situation. Two of their black hawk choppers crash, several men are lost, members of the team get split up, and they are constantly being shot at by the Somalis. The men in this team are in a very intense situation and they are trying to work quickly under pressure. This movie is very true to the true events that happened with Task Force Ranger during The First Battle of Mogadishu. There have not been many inaccuracies pointed out between the movie and the true events, but the movie was highly criticized by foreign groups. My brother, a former marine, was taken by some of his commanders to see this movie when it first came out and was told it was very accurate. I believe Black Hawk Down is a movie that definitely makes an impact on the person watching it, but it also pays a lot of respect to those who …show more content…
This isn’t a feel good story, or a movie that’s purely entertainment with no real story behind it, it’s real and raw. Black Hawk Down shows a true event that went terribly wrong, and had to have the hard work of many skilled men to make it through the fight. Unlike many war movies, this one doesn’t seem to be trying to make you feel more patriotic, it seems like it is trying to inform you of how rough war can truly be. Many people put their lives on the line for us every day, but it’s hard to relate to them because we have no idea what it’s like to go into battle. Black Hawk Down gives a glimpse into life for soldiers, which helps regular civilians understand and give respect to
At the very beginning of the movie they showed the United States Army invading the Omaha Beach. In this scene, they showed all of the casualties on the beach. The scene was able to show the sand was just covered in blood and bodies. Those bodies lying on the sand weren’t all dead either. Some of the bodies on the sand were people still alive, they were just suffering from their wounds from the gun fires and bombs. This particular part in the movie was completely true to what actually happened in real life during WWII.
The Black Hawk War was a major conflict between the United States of America and the Native Americans. It, like many Native American versus America wars, is fairly unknown. It took place in the year of 1832. There are many things one should know about the Black Hawk War, such as what started it, the major military events, and what happened once the war was finished.
“Nobody asks to be a hero; it just sometimes turns out that way,” SSGT Matt Eversmann said this while explaining to a solider the hardship of trying to explain to civilians the duties of a soldier. There have been many battles fought, and many have been lost. Black Hawk Down is an adaptation of the failed attempt to capture Somali warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid during the Battle of Mogadishu. It started on March 2001 and it was released January 18, 2002. During the real operation there was a dramatic change between it being a simple capture operation to it being a rescue mission that is shown in the movie. Black Hawk Down is historically accurate because the chronological sequence of the operation and rescue mission are correct.
“Hacksaw Ridge” represents one of the movies from last year that I was most curious about. I love Mel Gibson’s “Braveheart,” and the story here seemed interesting. Plus, I was curious to see how Hollywood would react to Gibson’s return to directing after his incendiary past. I finally caught up with the best picture nominee, and it’s certainly a good, but not great, movie.
Steven Spielberg’s master piece Saving Private Ryan earned itself 5 academy awards, including the best director award in 1998. The all star cast starring Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Tom Sizemore and Edward Burns brings to life the horror of war. Seen through the eyes of a squad of American soldiers, the story begins with World War 2’s historic D-Day invasion, then moves beyond the beach as the men embark on a dangerous special mission. Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) must take his men behind enemy lines to find Private James Ryan, whose three brothers have been
Menace II Society, a film about a young Black man who has lived the “hustler” lifestyle and is struggling to leave it, is a perfect example of deviance as the main character, Caine Lawson, and the characters around him violate many of society’s norms. Throughout the film, the characters swear incessantly, carry around guns and drugs as most people would carry around cell phones, commit street crimes, especially burglary and mugging, on a regular basis, and beat and kill people unscrupulously. The following quote captures just how deviant Caine and the other characters in this film were, “[Caine] went into the store just to get a beer. Came out an accessory to murder and armed robbery. It's funny like that in the hood sometimes. You never

Sling Blade’s main theme is the redemption of Karl’s lost childhood. Karl Childer’s overly religious parents believed he was a punishment from God. They severely abused him, treated him like an animal, and forced him to live in a shed in solitude. Everyone in town picked on him and called him names. He was seen as a “retard” or slower than others. He had little to call his own. His only possessions were a Bible and several books on Christmas and carpentry. Karl was taught the Bible as a child, but it wasn’t really the Bible. The stories they told him were not in the Bible. His parents had made up their own stories and had led him astray on the rights and wrongs
Saving Private Ryan is a movie that generates strong responses from most people that see it. While interviewing four individuals and reading three movie reviews, I found that each of my subjects would recommend it, not one of the individuals interviewed felt the violence was senseless, and all of them left the movie with a strong emotional response of some kind. It appears that Saving Private Ryan is the kind of movie to which many can relate.
The film Saving Private Ryan, is about a United States Army Captain (CPT) and his chosen squad that are tasked with locating and recovering Private (PVT) Ryan, after the news of his three brothers’ deaths reaches the Army. The CPT chooses a few specific men to aid him with this mission.
Starting off with the facts of the movie, case that is being presented is a criminal one. Two Marines, PFC. Louden Downey and Lance Cpl. Harold W. Dawson, are charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and conduct unbecoming a Marine. The reason I
The film makes the viewer feel patriotic because we should all feel proud, with all of the bad things happening during the war people wanted to go to America. Out of the countries they could have fled to they picked America. The viewers should also
The film showed me a lot about the horrors of the war. It was a very hard and long war.

Black Hawk Down, directed by Ridley Scott, is a war film that illustrates the true story of the Battle of Mogadishu. The intent of this essential operation to the United States was to capture the Somalian warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidi. The film begins by introducing us to an audacious group of Delta Force soldiers, Army Rangers, and helicopter pilots. As the film develops, the original plan to capture Aidi is changed to a mission of survival when two american helicopters are brought down.
