“Stand as one.” This is the Spartan’s battle cry and motto at the University of Tampa. The University of Tampa is one of the most prominent and alluring buildings in Downtown Tampa, Florida. Its many educational and athletic department buildings each represent the school in their own way. However, one of the more architecturally-beautiful buildings, the Bob Martinez Athletic Center, stands out significantly from the rest. From its historic name dedication, to its location, all the way to its architectural design, the Bob Martinez Athletic Center is certainly one of Tampa’s most well-kept jewels.
The halls of the Center softly whisper out “Bob Martinez” over and over after its re-dedication in 2013. Martinez was born and raised in Tampa. He

Standing in front of the Athletic Center looking left to right, the many sharp angles that make up the exterior walls are more than eviden/t. The subtle, light tan color of the top-half of building touches the brick lower-half like the way water meets oil. The windows are painted on the top-half of the building to add some shimmer as the sun blazes through. The brick half is a razor-edged wave turning corners sharper than a Nascar driver during the Sprint Cup Series. Block, brick, and cast stone make up the exterior walls of the Center. The process includes “laying brick with mortar, painting and application of ceramic products” (Condeixa et al, 2015, table 2). The entryway is a curved tower held up by four brick pillars. The center of the entryway is adorned with a glass medallion; engraved in the glass is the Spartan logo like two lovers names engraved in their favorite tree as a beautiful reminder of what is and what used to be. Keeping guard at either side of the entrance are two Spartan soldiers, they welcome students and fellow Spartan lovers through the shadowy cave that leads to the six glass doors. However, they are always equipped with sword and shield in hand ready to take on anybody that dares to challenge or threaten their arena. Day and night they protect the Athletic Center, ensuring that its true purpose is never stolen: the love of sports and of
During my return trip to downtown Tucson I visited my favorite place and the one which I felt held the most power. The Cadence apartment gives anyone who enters it the feel of a five-star hotel. The apartments gave the ambience of upper class with its constant cleaning crew working to keep it in prestige condition and multiple amenities only the nicest and most powerful of places would possess. When entering, you are welcomed to a long all white hallway with multiple fireplaces and flat screen televisions. The all white building gives the impression of a sleek and clean upper class building. After continuing down the hall, you are greeted by a fully equipped gym and a large pool and hot tub. Overall, with grand sweeping hallways, five star amenities, and classy atmosphere, The Cadence possesses much of the attributions that lead a building to be architecturally powerful.
As a matter of fact, the system of entrance and exit of the Colosseum is another important aspect to explore how significant the impact caused by the Roman social structure on the architecture design is. Corresponding to strict arrangement of seating, after arriving at the Colosseum, the spectators are able to find out the specified entrance and exit routs for different social classes.7 Colosseum has an efficient network of vaulted passageways consisting eighty archways serving as entrance and exit.8 Without a doubt, it is certain that the entrance for the emperor is separated from the gates opening for the crowds. Among the eighty archways, there is only one special entrance used by the most powerful men with a great contrast to the public entrance. The walls leading to the special entrance have rich decoration, such as painting and stuccoes.9 Additionally, in order to achieve the efficiency as much as possible, the “admission tokens”10 with numbers of the seats are created to “enable the public spectators to go directly to the proper entrance for reaching their own seats”.
The building was a marvel of modern engineering. A carbon neutral, solar and geothermal powered monument to the future. The outside of the building a sleek combination of recycled redwood and interlocking solar panels. The inside’s high vaulted ceilings and sleek white pillars formed a cavernous inner space. Three classrooms divided the building into working spaces. The bright L.E.D lighting and modern fixtures completed the buildings futuristic design. This building was the newest in a long line of additions to my middle school's campus.
The current trend in baseball park construction is a retro design, reminiscent of the early years, combined with modern technology. This trend, dubbed “The Construction Era” by Frank Deford of Sports Illustrated, is prominent in three new American League parks: Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Jacobs Field, and The Ballpark at Arlington. The current idea for ballpark construction is to locate the retro style parks in the heart of urban areas. The whole movement was initiated by the construction of Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and it’s radical new design concept.
Dodgers stadium has become a historical landmark in Southern California for its rich history. The stadium has hosted 147 million baseball fans since its doors opened in 1962. Many baseball historical moments have occurred here including 8 world series, 4 world champion. Records
As a student enters the gym doors of Smith-Cotton they can see various trophies from our athletic teams, along with our JROTC National Championship banners that hang up from the walls. One can see by the quality of our gym that our sports are a main part of our school, but as one wonders on into the hallways of our school, they can see how dull they are. By the plainness of the walls, there seems to be no life, in the JROTC hallway you see the trophy cabinet full of multiple national trophies and as you venture on you get to see images of what these teams do, along with the bulletin board that shows newspaper articles of the success of the program. But as you continue to walk toward the other side of the classroom, one can only see some bulletin boards that do not have many things on them except for some advertising. Just by observing this, a new student can see that our school has a great deal to do with sports, but what they cannot see is how well this school performs academically. As we walk down the halls you rarely see a student’s work displayed. So one can assume what James Coleman thinks to be correct, that “altogether, the trophy case would suggest to the innocent visitor that he was entering an athletic club, not an educational institution." This is a dilemma among many schools that is sometime not dealt with adequately.

For 150 years, college sports have been an important aspect of American universities and abolishing them would eliminate the benefits that they bring (“College Athletics Programs”). One of the greatest benefits of college athletics is that they bind the school to the community. People who live in a college town love to support their institution and showing up at numerous athletic events displays how far their dedication goes. Not only do college sports attract people who live in the college town, but also alumni and future students. The school’s spirit and unity extends far beyond the

It also had a 3 story, 850,000 square foot indoor baseball facility that included high tech film rooms to watch game tape, batting cages, an indoor kickball stadium, plus a pool, and a wiffle ball stadium as well. Just being in this complex made you feel like a top tier player. That Tournament brings back good and bad memories that I will remember forever. My favorite memory is in the semifinals I hit a ball so far it most likely has not landed yet. It was also a walk off home run, so all my teammates dog piled me when I touched home and gave me the famous ice
Florida State University exemplifies great pride in school spirit, encouraged through infamous prominent tradition. Doak S. Campbell Stadium exists as a location on campus where this prideful spirit is in full effect and embraced by students, alumni, and any other visitors. Right in the heart of this scene, in front of the football stadium, stands the Unconquered statue. The massive monument, standing a few stories above the heads of those passing by, welcomes spectators into the stadium as it sets the glorified mood that takes place during Florida State home football games, especially when the spear is lit in flames lighting the way to the gates.
As a candidate for the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Honors College, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the invitation to submit an application for consideration. As a UTSA student-athlete, such an opportunity is an extraordinary moment in my life, reason being, the UTSA Honors College invitation validates that I am worthy of the title a true student-athlete. Accordingly, this opportunity dispels the negative stereotypical categorization associated with being an athlete; therefore, to represent UTSA Football Team in this educational endeavor is an honor.
The gym where I practice to win, the YMCA, is a place where I know who I am. It is a place I can go to escape my problems for awhile and release some stress. It is not the actual physical building, but rather the events that have occurred over the years. It is where I have formed some of the closest friendships. It is the place I have invested years of hard work for many of my accomplishments. To some it may seem odd that a place associated with sweat and physical pain can mean so much to one person. However, in my eyes it is almost like a second home.
During the 1960s, while the United States was going through a civil infrastructure revolution, Texas lead the way in innovative ways; creating modern marvels that would go onto to become “Wonders of the World.” Once such building in particular lead a technical revolution, here in the city of Houston. Home to several professional sports team, and later a registered as a national land mark, the Texas created Houston Astrodome was the first in what would become multi-purposed indoor sports arenas.
As president of the National Association of Safety Regulators, Solomon Alvi, had booked a hotel stay for his convention. This was the hotels first convention in 30 years. What seem to be a pleasurable stay ended up to be a catastrophe!
