Imagine yourself a kindergarten student who was told that the Book of Mormon is not a source of truth; imagine yourself a grade school student who was told by your classmates and your teachers that Joseph Smith was not a Prophet of God; lastly, imagine yourself a 16-year-old college student of one of the top universities in the country who was taught by the professors that worshipping God in our time is similar to worshipping the Greek gods and goddesses in the olden days – trivial and tedious.
I have felt the deleterious effects on these experiences I faced growing up. Some enthusiasts whose beliefs are contrary to mine have been overzealous to the point of being antagonistic in their attempts to make me a proselyte of their denominations. My self-esteem was greatly affected that kept me from reaching my highest potential. My grades were affected. I have wished, since I was eight years old, to be in an institution that would not ostracize me for who I am. So, when I found out about the existence of the CES schools, I have dreamed of being admitted to one.

I have been resilient enough in the past to not fall away from God while traversing through the trials in life; but for once, I want to experience facing tribulations in life without being told that I am not a real Christian and have not really accepted Jesus Christ. I indubitably believe that transferring to a CES school would help me achieve my goals in life.
There were some setbacks in the past the kept me from applying to BYU-Idaho; but like what I have stated, I have wanted to become a CES school student since I was younger. I was not able to become one right away, but I believe that it is never too late to become what I might have been. I know my life and the lives of my future family will be blessed if I do become
A strong family life, faith, and ambition characterize my development. A lot of who I am now can be attributed to the manner in which my parents raised me. I grew up in a devout Mormon household, so from a young age my parents instilled values of love, honesty, and kindness.

People and religion are a part of everyday life. The world is sure to be empty without the existence of God’s creation. When people and religion are viewed as different, the history, beliefs, and practice are formed unrealistically by outsider, more so than an insider. In an interview with a LDS, the author attempts to write and summarize a Mormon‘s journey through life with God and others.
One of the largest struggles for members in the church is animosity of non-members. On one hand, many express their dislike of the LDS church without even knowing what Sacrament Meeting is or the full the title of the “Mormon church” (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). On the other hand, there are a number supposed experts about Mormon doctrine. Some have belonged to the Church themselves at one point, leaving after finding unresolved dissonance between their beliefs and the Gospel. Others are often learned scholars, criticizing the Mormon doctrine to prove their own views. The following paper involves the latter of the two in an analysis of Ezekiel 37:15-17, a Biblical scripture that the LDS Church believes to refer to The Book of Mormon.
Although many will claim reading the scriptures and saying prayers are the “primary answers” to any situation, I want to share with you how I have found studying the Book of Mormon is one of “The Primary Answers” to protection and lasting conversion in our lives. The fiery darts of the adversary have little or no effect upon us when we begin a serious study of the Book of Mormon; we are protected through the promises of the Lord who said “whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would hold fast unto it, they would never perish; neither could temptations and the fiery darts of the adversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction” (1 Nephi 15:24). We are also promised by a modern day prophet, Ezra Taft Benson, “There is a power in the book which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist temptation. You will find the power to avoid deception. You will find the power to stay on the strait and narrow path.” (Ezra Taft Benson, October 1986, Ensign) There is no other path to true conversion and staying on the path which leads us to the tree of eternal life and that of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
No one has ever been able to articulate just what makes a cult, and what makes a religion different. Yet most people, when listing mainstream religions, name Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism, among others. These religions have existed for thousands of years and have millions of followers; they have thus earned a degree of respect even from outsiders. However, Mormonism—the tradition of the Latter Day Saints movement—is considered strange, and by some, a cult. In the modern age, many consider its very premise a hoax. Mark Twain criticized the Mormon holy scripture, calling it “chloroform in print” (Turner 229), and Jacob Weisberg (editor of the Washington Post) called Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism, “an obvious con man” (Ostling xv). Yet
Based upon the information gathered from Robert Millet about the Mormon perspectives on their religion. The Mormons renounced a distant, unknowable god of the Neoplatonists God of philosophers and worshiping a God, who possesses every divine attribute.(251 Metzger) Some of the Mormons views of God is similar in nature to the Christianity God. Joseph Smith, who is the founder of the Mormons, do realize God is an omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent God. He also knows God is a Holy God, who desire to reveal himself to his people. Muck points out; Mormons believe in the Jesus Christ of the New Testament. They believe "salvation is in Christ and that it comes by and through his holy name. The Mormons
I grew up knowing this gospel, I lived in Salt Lake City, my parents were extremely emerced in the church with callings like young women’s president, primary president, Sunday school teacher, elder quorum president, 2nd counseler to the bishop, stake relief society president, and 1st counsel to the stake Sunday school president. Their testimonies and examples help me understand the principles of Christ’s teachings. I grew up knowing what was good and what was bad, and from an early age I hated being in the wrong. I liked to please people and felt so uncomfortable with the feeling of guilt. Looking back on it now I can see that is a gift that God gave me, it was great it kept me out of trouble for the beginning years of my life, but it wasn’t
With thinking of going to a community college in mind, I began to search for community colleges around me. I found one not far from my home called Johnston Community College. Living only about twenty minutes away and in the same county as the school was great but what I did not like was the school’s atmosphere. To me, the school reminded me of a prison with its tall grayish brown walls and barely any windows. I did not want to attend a school that to me felt like a prison, so I kept looking for other community colleges. When I was looking around, I found a community college called PITT. One fact about PITT that I liked was how close it was to ECU. I ended up not applying to PITT because to drive to and from school every day would be a total of two hours and forty-one minutes of driving every day. Along with how far a drive to PITT would be every day, the cost of gas to drive to school would be too much money. Searching for the right community college became easy at the end. After searching through a bunch of different community colleges, I finally narrowed my choices down to one
Mormonism is a multilayered religious organization with many faces. The words “multilayered” and “organization” are carefully chosen as they represent the bulk of what we will discuss as we seek to unveil the true essence of the Mormon world as they see it. We will summarize this organization and in so doing we will discover that it was built on human fallacy and deception from its inception. We will then follow with a critical look the claims, doctrines, and documents that frame their beliefs.
I would like to be considered for admission to this Colorado Christian University because I believe that it will be a perfect fit for me. I will have the opportunity to receive a degree and strengthen myself in the Word of God. For many years, I have been interested in studying Psychology. My interest in pursuing this field stems from many factors, but the number one reason will be my love for people. I consider myself to be big hearted and a compassionate person. God has blessed me with a caring spirit. I have love for people and I desire to be a helping hand to as many people I can reach. For many years I have found myself working with foster children or taking care of those who needed caregiver assistance and I want to go further. I believe
In the two-part series, The Mormons, this four hour documentary by Frontline and the American Experience examines the development and growth of the Mormon faith. The documentary explores both the history and the present reality of the Mormon faith, allowing the viewer inside the compelling and often misunderstood religion. The first part of this documentary explores the birth of Mormonism and the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints under the charismatic leadership of Joseph Smith, while the second segment studies the contemporary Mormon Church (including the discussion of Mormon missionaries, homosexuality, and the role of women). Although I was aware of some of the history of Mormonism (my mom was raised in the LDS
Now imagine the world without Christians: Seventh Day Adventist to be exact. I chose a faith based institution for spiritual training, Sabbath keeping, and having the tools that will prepare me to offer different services and deploy me out in the world while building God’s kingdom. While attending Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas. It was training ground, a family based atmosphere filled with love and a little heaven on earth. Knowing how imperative this in a dark, hungry and thirsty planet. I made it my duty to attain all the spiritual training needed to be a light to those dying souls. And I believe at a faith based intuition I will receive the spiritual training needed where I will be able to build a Christian character, develop an inner transformation that will help ignite changes in
The foul-mouthed musical The Book of Mormon opened in Spring 2011 to stellar reviews including The New York Times claiming the musical as "a newborn, old-fashioned, pleasure giving musical" by Ben Brantley (2011). As a story about two Mormon missionaries who got sent to northern part of Uganda for their mission, the musical tells a brief explanation of the real "Book of Mormon" -the sacred text of the Latter Day Saint church founded in 1820s by Joseph Smith, but instead providing satirical view and perception of contemporary musical theater writers (in this case, Trey Parker and Matt Stone of the television series South Park and Robert Lopez) towards the Mormons and a rather stereotypical portrayal of Uganda as a barren land of extreme poverty and savages.
